Oreki shakes his head

he is always lazy.

This was him before the Fall

After the Fall, he changes a bit. But he still likes to delegate his works to others. And if it is something that he did not need to attend personally, he would not do it

But maybe because of the laws he cultivated, there are times when his heart is anxious and he became impatient. It is fortunate that his lazy aptitude seems to be a good restraint to this created personality that emerges with his deepening of understanding the path of power he had chosen

And now, Hikigaya and Raymond once again spoke about things that seems like some kind of cryptic code.

But Oreki knows what up. These two are reminiscing things. And inject their own thoughts in their own words.

The meaning of the depth of these words, only they would understand it.

Just like Hikigaya would not understand the kind of feeling that Raymond is feeling when he said all of those words, Raymond also does not understand the dept of the feeling that Hikigaya said when he said those words.

In times like this, Oreki did not want to pretend like he understood. But....maybe it is because he has bene with Hikigaya for a long.

Even if he did not want to understand, he actually knows what Hikigaya and Raymond is talking about

They have bene in this new world for twenty years.

A new world after the Fall. And he has also travelled the cosmos and travel through the breaches and look at other worlds.

And his thoughts and his views of the world had also changed. After all, everyone changes. And it is not always a bad thing. Sometimes, this change help you grow.

Oreki....if he had to describe whether his experience made him regress or grow, he believes that he has grown because of it.

Certain things he did not want to know...certain things he wanted to pretend not to know...now....he knows he should know about it and cares about it

He scoffed first.

And his tone is full of cynicism

"Whether it be the authoritarian regime or the democratic regime, the rulers did not change"

"The system changes, but the rulers never change. Only the people are stupid enough to think rulers had changed"

"Democratic powerful nation uses pleasure and convoluted numerous laws to control the people, authoritarian uses torture and death"

"One uses the carrot, the other uses the stick, and the people born in these two regimes, have different viewpoints of the world. The one in the authoritarian regime knows there is a leash on their necks"

"But the ones living in a democratic nations, blinded by the words and the glitter could not even see the leash on their necks"

"They can speak, they can protest, but nothing changes with their speaking. The only things that rulers understand is action. Not words, not protest. It is when their heads are on the line, they would listen. Whether in an oligarchic country dressed up as democracy, or an authoritarian regime controlling with fear....it is always when their life on the line, only then....they would truly listen"

Oreki pause for a moment and he smirks.

"Hence...the most effective way to erase history is always.... to kill"

Raymond nodded

"I check the history of this place. And I found something interest"

"There was a great war a hundred years after the founding. Even that war itself is hardly described. It is only mentioned as a great war. Something certainly happened"

Hikigaya frowned

"Any suspicious things?"

Raymond nodded

Then he added

"And then after that great war, there was another great war. Every few hundred years, there is a great war in the Untainted Land"

"Sometimes, it is because of some divine treasure. Sometimes it is because of some Heavenly Thread that could make someone break through to the highest level in this world. Other times it is a relic from some different world. There is many reason why such war started"

"But for some reason, I felt there is someone guiding this from behind. Like some kind of....scheduled annihilation"

Hikigaya understood the implication.

"Slowly erasing history. Slowly erasing people who knew the true history. These are not normal actions. Someone must be behind this"

Haish, they all sighed.

There is one option they could use.

Bringing down heavenly punishment.

Unlike the heavenly will of their world, in this world, while it is quite independent, it could not exceed the power of the real heavenly will.

A prototype nascent heavenly will that is cultivated by the wishes, desire and will of the people of this world.

But if Raymond and other wanted to they could cleanse this world. They could bring about something like the Great Flood.

Or they could bring about meteor raining down to this world and cleanse the entire Untainted Land.

It is like erasing everything on the canvas. But the reason why they did not choose to do such a thing is simple

These are people.

People. Lives. Souls.

Even though they have godlike powers, Raymond, Hikigaya, Oreki did not yet lose their humanities

They have their arrogance and they have their flaws. And they could be ruthless.

But...there is no reason to do all of this

Just because they are weak, does not mean they did not have souls. And the cause and effect involved in this....even if one survives...then the cause and effect that would be formed would be enormous.

Not to mention the possibility of them forming inner demon.

This is the thoughts of mad men.

Whoever orchestrating from behind should know that this is a possibility but this person still dares to mess from behind

Outsiders don’t care if the world powers wipe the Untainted Land. Maybe the person behind all of this is even hoping the world powers do this.

Rules and laws have been established. And these rules and laws are only a decade old. But it is already becoming a shackle.

Once you break the rules and laws that you yourself created, then Earth would once again return back to those years of chaotic times

The thing is the three of them did not know what the mastermind behind all of this wanted to achieve. And this is the frustrating thing.

Because they did not know, they had to guess. and the more they guess, the more restricted their action is.

Raymond even has thoughts that maybe he is overthinking it.

But he could not just ignore it either when there is so many evidence on the contrary proving that there is evidence of people tampering with the formation of this Untainted Land.

Raymond shook his head

"Where is Loki?" he suddenly changes topic. Hikigaya and Oreki could only sigh

"No one knows. He made himself scarce the moment he arrived here. The last trace I could sense was that he went into some city. Though he only went there for a brief time"

"But he’s here?"

"he’s here" Hikigaya answers

"Do you know....what is his realm right now?"

"Disk Formation" Oreki answered. But Raymond frowns and he shook his head. This is hard for him to believe. Oreki, the one answering it also shows a bitter smile.

"Are you sure?" Oreki shook his head and he sighed

"I could not say for sure"

Raymond nodded

Oreki then continue saying

"You know that he has many methods of concealing things. If he did breakthrough and wanted to hide it from us, I doubt we could see though the tricks. If there is anyone that could confirm for certainty, it would be Death Monarch"

Hearing this Raymond could only smile bitterly

"Loki must have his reason for coming here. But he would not betray us. He knows what to prioritize. His stance is sometimes fickle, but he would not harm the world. I strongly believe this"

For a moment there is silence inside the room

Raymond then added with a bit of schadenfreude

"It is weird actually. Loki, that Trickster did not mind meeting us and talking to us. Even though all of us publicly said that we would arrest him the moment we saw him, Loki would meet us and talk to us like he is not on the wanted list"

"And we....even though Loki is in front of us....we would not capture him or apprehend him"

"But for some reason he never wanted to see Death Monarch. Death Monarch had already said he would always find a safe place in Pandemonium"

"Out of all the world powers and out of all the organization in the world, only Pandemonium promised safe passage for Loki. Yet, Loki never seem that eager to meet with Death Monarch"

Hikigaya nodded.

Raymond is not the only one feel weird about this.

The world doesn’t know but those who were directly involved at the top, all of those leaders of world powers know who was really to blame in the matter of the Multiversal Convergence

It was not Loki.

It was Death Monarch and Will the Speedster.

..
