Chapter 1030

While the battle was divided between Grey’s core allies and the Zodiacs, the others who weren’t participating in those specific duels—Amir, Killian, and Rivock, for example—were helping in any way they could on the main field.

With the three of them active, they were able to help the Dawn forces stabilize their footing against the Otherworlders and their beasts.

’Ah, curses...’ Rivock groaned inwardly as he blocked an ogre’s heavy attack.

He immediately sidestepped and lashed his leg forward, crashing it into the beast’s side before spinning back around and bashing the sole of his foot into the face of a warrior who had tried sneaking up on him.

’... Why do they get all the main fun while I play cleanup?’

Quickly crouching down under the wide swing of the ogre’s axe, a ki longsword materialized in his hand and quickly shot forward, ripping into the beast’s midsection.

The strike was intended to be fatal, but due to the beast’s incredibly tough hide, the sword was unable to pierce completely through.

Not that the descendant needed it to go that deep, though.

Quickly springing backward, he clicked his tongue, and the embedded sword glowed brightly before detonating fiercely, tearing the ogre apart.

Landing in the midst of a few warriors and mages alike, he spun around once, sending more than a dozen ki swords flying in all directions, tearing through their ranks.

The men dropped down with a wet thud as he lifted his head to look in the direction of one specific clash.

’... Damn it! I wasn’t notified on time. If not, it should have been me instead of Mada. I mean, why does he get a Zodiac while I get minions?!’

Angrily whirling around, he snatched someone’s wrist and twisted it, breaking the hold completely before kneeing the man brutally, sending the body flying backward as fluid sprayed out from the impact.

Another person who was tearing through the enemy army was Killian.

With his two swords in hand, he began blurring forward.

Leaping to the side in time, he deflected an incoming arrow before crouching down just as a wind sword tore past his head with brutal speed.

Swirling Ki around his feet, he exploded forward with immense speed, the soil bending beneath his feet.

He reached the wind mage and quickly struck him down before twirling around fluidly with a slash of his crimson sword, sending a fiery projectile speeding toward a warrior who quickly tried leaping away in order to avoid it.

Before the man had the chance to escape, Killian thrust his black sword into the air, which met the atmosphere with a loud bang.

An invisible, bullet-like force was fired out with rapid velocity, smashing into the man’s knee and crippling him for a moment, while the fiery slash tore a deep gash across his chest, setting his armor ablaze.

Smiling at this scene for a moment, he cast a brief glance at the core members fighting against the Zodiacs.

’Guys... best of luck. Please don’t die.’

Looking up, he caught sight of Lilly and Randin on top of a building, shooting out projectiles to save as many allies as they could.

Before an enemy could deal a devastating strike to a frontline soldier, an arrow from Lilly would smash into their joints, buying enough time for the Dawn forces to finish them off.

Randin kept blasting out strange balls of energy from his cannon, ripping through some weakened beasts and neutralizing the mages of the Otherworlders.

Amir was dancing through the rhythm of the battle.

Even though he had given the command for the elite team to split up and handle the Zodiacs, he hadn’t moved to join them.

Instead, he decided to manage the frontlines and push the beasts back.

Metal swords and spears were flying around him like bullets, smashing into the opposition faster than they could react.

For the beasts, it took much more effort to take them down, especially since they had all set their eyes on him and were currently dashing toward his position with full speed.

But he didn’t care; he simply created a gigantic metal sword that hovered in front of him, its tip pointed outward.

BANG!

The weapon was launched with devastating velocity as it cut through the air with blazing speed.

Within seconds, it smashed directly into the first beast, then exited the other end and continued onward.

The massive blade tore through the beasts with crazy force until the fiftieth creature was dealt with; only then did the sword finally lose its momentum and plunge into the ground, cleaving the earth open.

Grey watched all of this happen from his initial position.

Elara was poised behind him on a thick tree branch.

She hadn’t joined the main battlefield yet as she was still gathering power, trying to feel for any vegetation in the town she could utilize.

Grey remained unfazed by everything going on as his eyes scanned the entire battlefield calmly.

Those he couldn’t keep track of visually, he could feel and hear through the echoes of the clash.

Since Gustav wasn’t making a direct move, Grey had been given the rare opportunity to tear his gaze away from the man to see how his allies were faring.

’I wonder why he isn’t doing anything. Is he just observing like me? I have been watching him intently since the start of the battle because he is unpredictable and I didn’t want to be caught off guard. But so far, he is content with just watching.’

Grey allowed his mind to wander for a single moment as he contemplated whether to step in and help his friends or not.

’... Come on. Why aren’t you doing an—’

He returned his gaze to the metallic throne where his father had been seated just a moment ago.

He was gone!

Grey’s pupils dilated in alarm.

He was about to flare into movement when he suddenly felt a rush of hot air directly behind him.

’Damn. Not again.’ 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

"Come on, son. This place isn’t for us. Let’s head over to our own space."

He felt a sudden tap on his shoulder, and in the next fraction of a second, he vanished completely.

Nearby, Elara’s eyes widened in sheer shock, as she hadn’t even registered what was going on.

One moment Grey was standing right there, and the next second, he had entirely disappeared from view.
