Married For Now
Chapter 252: SURVIVOR’S GUILT
OUT OF the 180 passengers and crew of the flight, at least twenty people were injured, while six people had been confirmed dead.
Sohee felt his heart break for the victims.
But, deep inside, he was glad that his husband didn’t get into that flight.
"What’s wrong, Hyung?"
"Hmm?"
"I can’t breathe," Kim Heedo said jokingly. "You’re hugging me too tightly."
Oh.
That was true.
Their family was back in Seoul after his husband had been discharged from the hospital.
Garam Hyung and his family had already returned, too.
Sohee hadn’t contacted Lim Garam yet because he didn’t want Kim Heedo out of his sight and reach.
Hence, even in their sleep, he couldn’t help but cling to his husband tightly.
"I almost lost you, Heedo-ya," Sohee said. The fear in his voice was clear even to his own ears. "When I heard your plane had crashed, I thought my heart stopped beating. If something bad really happened to you, I’m afraid I would have done the thing that would make our children resent me forever."
Because I’ll follow Kim Heedo to the afterlife, even if it means abandoning them.
Yes, Sohee was being a horrible parent.
But maybe that bad thought only crossed his mind because he wasn’t in a good headspace at the moment.
"Hyung, you must be tired because you’re saying strange things," Kim Heedo said, hugging Sohee tightly. "I understand what you’re trying to say. And although I appreciate the fact that you’ll follow me anywhere, I’m afraid we can’t be that selfish anymore. We brought three beautiful children into this world, Hyung. They didn’t ask to be born, so the least thing we could do for them is to make sure they’ll stay happy and healthy with us."
Aww.
Sohee was proud of Kim Heedo.
His husband had truly matured now, huh?
Is this really the same Kim Heedo who said he would choose me over the twins in case he ahd to choose while I was giving birth?
Well, the children had already grown a lot since then.
And I can see how much my husband’s love for our children grows every single day.
Of course, it was the same case for Sohee.
"I’ll be extra careful from now on, Hyung," Kim Heedo said, kissing Sohee on the forehead. "I’ll never leave you and the children alone. If ever something bad happens to me, I’ll make sure to crawl back to you."
Aww.
Of course, Sohee wasn’t delusional— he knew that death was something they couldn’t avoid.
An Alpha wasn’t a god, after all.
But I’m satisfied to know that Kim Heedo has enough will to live for our family.
"Me, too, honey," Sohee said, closing his eyes as he buried his face against Kim Heedo’s chest. "I’ll live for you and our children for a very, very long time."
Kim Heedo just chuckled, and then he kissed the top of Sohee’s head again.
He thought his husband was already ready to sleep.
I am, too.
Drowsiness was already pulling Sohee in when Kim Heedo suddenly spoke.
"Hyung?"
"Yeah?"
"I’m thinking of donating money to the families of the victims of the plane crash, as well as to those who suffered serious injuries. I know the airline and the government already promised to give them compensation, but I still feel bad," Kim Heedo said in a low, sad voice. "I know money can’t bring the dead back. But I heard some of the victims have young children."
Oh.
Oh.
Is my husband suffering from survivor’s guilt?
"That’s wonderful, Heedo-ya. I agree with your plan," Sohee said, and then he looked up at Kim Heedo with a worried look on his face. "But I also want you to think of yourself. Should we visit a therapist later?"
Kim Heedo looked confused at first, and then he smiled sadly. "Did it show, Hyung?"
"Of course, silly. I’m your husband."
"Hyung..."
"It’s not your fault that the plane crashed, and it’s not your fault that you survived," Sohee said, cupping Kim Heedo’s face between his hands. "We’re happy and grateful that you came back to us, Kim Heedo. Me and the children had prayed hard for your safety."
Kim Heedo looked touched, and then he nodded. "Thank you for making me feel better, Hyung."

"HONEY, why are you still awake?"
Lim Garam was on the bed, lying on his stomach while reading a document on his computer tablet, when Song Sihyuk lay on top of him. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Then his husband kissed his nape, licking the bite mark that he had left there.
"Hyung."
"Yeah?"
"Two of the victims of the plane crash were a young married couple," Lim Garam said carefully. "They left a young daughter. I think the poor girl is only around Woohee’s age?"
"I see," Song Sihyuk said, obviously nonchalant. "Don’t worry, honey. Kim Heedo and I decided to donate money to the victims’ bereaved family."
"Hyung, that’s not what I’m trying to say here."
"Then what?"
Lim Garam turned around until his back hit the mattress.
Song Sihyuk already shifted into a more comfortable position, but the Alpha remained on top of him, careful not to crush him with his weight.
And now that they were looking at each other face to face...
"Hyung, I want to adopt the girl."
Garam didn’t decide that on a whim.
But while he was browsing through the little girl’s photos, he didn’t know why, but he felt really attached to her even though he hadn’t met her yet.
I may be losing my mind, but I really want to adopt her.
"What did you say, honey?" Song Sihyuk asked, obviously confused. "Did I hear you correctly?"
"I asked Jung Han-ssi to run a background check on the family. Unfortunately, the poor girl’s relatives don’t want her," Lim Garam said, gathering his courage because he knew it was going to be a long ’fight’ convincing Song Sihyuk to do what he wanted. "So, I want to take care of the child."
"No," Song Sihyuk said bluntly. "We already have Song Gunwoo, and he’s more than enough to complete our family, Lim Garam."
Haaah.
