Or perhaps that wave of madness was the result of the Blood God’s incomplete descent.

The hunger born from bodily imperfection, combined with the arrogance of transcending one’s former limits, influenced the nearby vampires, driving them to attack the "meat" around them.

A bloody, brutal massacre—more slaughter than battle—erupted without warning.

The dying screams of the first victims acted like a catalyst, dragging the situation inside Eternal Night Temple into an abyss.

The remaining humans, though unable to see their surroundings, opened fire wildly in every direction as long as they still had weapons in hand.

That only further stimulated the vampires, pushing them into even greater savagery.

Collapse came in an instant.

This turn of events had not been expected by Green Arrow Duck.

It left him hesitant, unsure whether he should go down there and get involved.

The humans were not being slaughtered entirely without resistance.

Their weapons had originally been prepared to deal with Blade, the half-vampire.

Which meant they were equally effective against vampires.

Even in complete darkness, some unlucky vampires ran straight into gunfire.

And as the bullets spread wider and wider, more of them did.

Still, overall, the underground darkness favored the vampires.

The humans’ hysterical shooting quickly exhausted their ammunition, leaving them with no way to fight back.

As for the man most likely to reverse the tide—

Blade had already picked up his tactical vest and was heading underground.

It looked like he intended to confront Deacon Frost directly.

That guy clearly didn’t need worrying about.

Green Arrow Duck simply didn’t want to interfere because it was troublesome.

This wasn’t an online game where kill-stealing the boss got you loot.

As long as the Blood God died in the end, and Blade—the useful hired thug—survived, then whatever happened between them was none of his business.

However...

There was one person he couldn’t ignore.

Karen Johnson, the doctor who had been the key reason Blade walked willingly into the trap.

This should be the Black woman who had earlier rescued Blade from the stone coffin and willingly let herself be bitten.

At the moment, she was curled up beside the base of a stone pillar.

That might protect her from blind gunfire by fellow humans.

But to vampires, it meant nothing.

What could be seen, would still be seen.

Several vampires were already moving toward her position.

Green Arrow Duck moved.

Using the micro-hover system, his movement was like skating—silent and fast.

Since the main propulsion system was useless in the current confined environment, both arms and all ten fingers transformed into extensions of magnetic railgun launch rails.

He precisely shot dead or crippled every vampire and human along the way.

The point was simply not to let anyone get back up.

He reached the female doctor’s location quietly and spoke:

"Dr. Karen Johnson? I’m reinforcements sent by Abraham Whistler. Are you there?"

Because screams and fighting filled the temple, his voice wasn’t particularly clear.

He could already see exactly where the woman was, but speaking first was wiser to avoid misunderstanding—or injuring her by accident.

He repeated himself.

Only then did he hear a very soft voice ask:

"You say Whistler sent you. How do you prove it? What happened to him?"

That second question was the real danger.

If he didn’t know the old hunter’s condition, things could go badly.

Green Arrow Duck answered:

"Whistler was tortured by vampires. He looked awful, but he was saved.

"If Blade remembered to tell you, then you should know that.

"And our mutual friend is the one who created the Embrace Serum."

After a moment of silence, Karen Johnson asked:

"Do you have a flashlight? How are we leaving? I can’t see anything.

"Are you a vampire? Only those monsters can see in the dark here."

Green Arrow Duck extended a hand toward her.

"It’s not only monsters. We must believe in the power of science.

"My hand is directly in front of your face. Reach forward and you’ll touch it."

Half doubtful, Karen stretched out her hand.

As expected, in the darkness she touched something.

It felt like touching a sculpture wrapped in velvet.

Soft on the outside.

Hard underneath.

Then several new voices sounded in the dark.

One female voice was instantly recognizable to Karen Johnson.

"Hehe... look what we’ve found. A strange big fellow and a pathetic human trying to flee."

"So you’re the Robin Hood Donald Duck that Edgar reported?"

"I never expected you’d actually dare come here."

"Let me see who’s hiding inside."

"You said that old man helping Blade didn’t die?

"Did you turn him fully into a vampire and feed him a bucket of human blood?"

Vampires naturally had sharper hearing than humans.

So it wasn’t surprising they had overheard the conversation and followed the voices here.

Green Arrow Duck couldn’t be bothered exchanging nonsense with them.

Once violence had started, there was no need for dialogue.

Even if the leader among them was the high-ranking female vampire—

Raquel.

One hand needed to hold Karen.

The other needed to guard against surprises.

So Green Arrow Duck activated another weapon system directly.

Inside the helmet, infrared panoramic sensors marked every cold-bodied vampire target.

On the white duck backside, rows of missile hatches flipped open.

Ten miniature multi-directional tracking combat missiles launched from each side.

Twenty in total.

Each missile was only slightly thicker than a thumb.

They shot toward the incoming vampires in erratic, twisting trajectories.

From launch to impact took less than three seconds.

Even the more alert vampires who tried to dodge the moment they saw smoke and objects launching from the duck’s rear could not evade the close-range tracking missiles.

They were hit one after another.

Some tried offense as defense—charging Green Arrow Duck with vampire speed in hopes of killing him first.

But the missiles simply altered direction, turned sharply, looped back, and struck them anyway.

These maneuvering missiles had predictive intercept paths for multiple movement patterns.

Even if one somehow outran a missile, another from a different trajectory would still hit the target.

That was why twenty missiles had been launched against far fewer vampires.

Not only to account for vampire evasive speed—

But to guarantee success.

And naturally, the warheads were specialized anti-vampire munitions.

Split left and right, they carried either silver nitrate payloads or ultraviolet payloads.

A direct hit from either type was lethal to a vampire.

If hit by two or more...

Death was guaranteed.

One after another, bursts of explosive light flashed across the darkness like fireworks.

Each flare briefly illuminated the damaged metallic surface of the Duck-form Duck-Leopard Armor.

The scene was eerie.

And strangely beautiful.

Every spark paid for in vampire lives.
