Marvel : Starting by Copying Wolverine's Power
Chapter 320: The Price of Truth
The bands of light tightened.
Then the calculations of the Recorder of Truth abruptly halted.
The runes flowing across its body froze into an ancient symbol:
DENIED.
The same voice echoed through the void, delivering its conclusion without hesitation.
They were not registered inhabitants of any timeline.
They were omitted variables.
Errors in the model.
The giant’s spherical head turned toward Levi.
"You contain fourteen mutually incompatible fragments of law. Even the Phoenix Source, the Concept of Dominion, and the Anti-Monitor’s Authority of Nothingness reside within you—powers no mortal should possess."
Then it looked toward Wanda.
"Her blood carries pure Chaos Magic, Chthon’s curse, and a force fundamentally opposed to the order of the multiverse."
The giant raised its right arm.
An unimaginably complex array of runes appeared in its palm, so intricate that merely looking at it caused pain.
"The World Library records truth. It does not harbor threats."
Its voice remained utterly emotionless.
"Leave. Or be erased."
Levi did not move.
He merely raised his head, meeting the gaze of the three-hundred-meter giant with eyes glowing gold-red and silver-white.
"A threat?"
His voice was quiet.
Yet it carried the weight of a mountain.
"Are you certain that’s how you want to define me?"
The Source of Dominion revolved slowly within him.
An invisible ripple spread outward.
The runes covering the Recorder of Truth accelerated, as though encountering an equation it could not solve.
The spherical head tilted slightly.
It was reassessing him.
Dark crimson Chaos Magic leaked from Wanda’s fingertips.
She could feel the pressure of the giant colliding with Levi’s source power.
The surrounding void trembled.
Yet she remained standing firmly at his side.
Levi took a breath, suppressing the battle instinct rising inside him.
He could fight.
If things truly escalated, victory or defeat was uncertain.
Destroying the library itself, however, would be easy.
But that wasn’t why he had come.
He was here to find clues about Labum Alal.
To uncover the conspiracy surrounding the Beyonders.
Destroying the greatest repository of answers in existence would defeat the entire purpose.
So he chose another path.
"You say we’re threats."
"You say we’re errors."
A faint smile appeared on his face.
The golden-red glow in his eyes softened.
"But have you considered that being variables is precisely why we’re qualified to stand here?"
The Recorder of Truth remained silent.
"You were created to record truth."
Levi raised a hand.
A miniature galaxy appeared above his palm, countless stars slowly rotating.
"Then what is truth?"
"Those old records stored in your database?"
The galaxy collapsed into a mass of chaotic energy.
Moments later, a newborn universe emerged from the chaos.
"Or the evolutionary paths that have never been recorded?"
He watched the tiny universe expand.
"The fourteen laws within me. My concepts. My sources."
"I started from nothing."
"I devoured them. Understood them. Mastered them."
"And finally wove them into a complete system."
The miniature universe vanished as he closed his fist.
In its place appeared a sphere woven from fourteen different colors of light.
"This has never existed before in the multiverse."
"A mortal built an inner universe through sheer will."
The sphere rotated slowly.
Each color represented a different law.
All fourteen coexisted in a miraculous state of balance.
"You call me an error?"
"No."
Levi looked directly at the giant’s faceless head. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
"I am a new direction of evolution."
His voice echoed through the void.
"As a recorder, don’t you want to preserve a path that has never existed before?"
The flow of runes accelerated again.
This time there was something close to longing within it.
The Recorder of Truth existed for one purpose:
To collect the unknown.
To archive every moment of the multiverse.
Levi was right.
He himself was a miracle.
A mortal carrying fourteen laws.
A being possessing an inner universe.
And Wanda’s Chaos Magic, purified and reconstructed into something entirely new, represented another unprecedented branch of possibility.
If those things could be recorded...
The giant’s body trembled slightly.
It would be the most valuable acquisition since its creation.
Yet it still upheld the rules.
"The value is indeed extraordinary."
"But not sufficient to grant entry."
Its voice remained cold.
"The World Library recognizes only one rule."
"Equivalent exchange."
"If you seek knowledge, offer something of equal value."
Levi’s smile widened.
That was exactly what he had been waiting for.
"Equivalent exchange?"
"Fine."
He raised his right hand.
The fourteen-colored sphere appeared again.
This time, at its core floated a golden rune—the core of his inner universe.
"I’ll give you all the evolutionary data of my inner universe."
"From when I was an ordinary human..."
"To obtaining my first ability."
"To merging fourteen laws."
"To constructing a complete system."
"Every step. Every breakthrough. Every critical moment."
The Recorder of Truth shuddered violently.
Runes erupted into a frenzy of calculations.
Several seconds later, it delivered its conclusion.
"...Priceless."
For the first time, something resembling greed entered its voice.
"This data is sufficient to purchase access to any area of the library."
"Including the Forbidden Zone."
"Deal."
Levi extended his hand.
The sphere expanded.
Streams of data peeled away from it, transforming into golden rivers of light that flowed into the giant’s body.
Countless glowing currents poured into the Recorder of Truth.
Levi could feel his evolutionary memories being analyzed frame by frame.
Waking up on Normandy Beach.
Copying Wolverine’s Healing Factor.
Devouring the timelines of the Council of Kangs.
Battling the Anti-Monitor.
Everything.
The giant saw it all.
It felt strange.
Like someone reading your diary while you voluntarily handed them the key.
The flow of runes accelerated even further.
The crystal tower resonated with a deep humming sound.
Wanda watched as the golden streams entered the giant.
New runes emerged across its surface.
New formulas.
New theorems.
New evolutionary models.
These represented paths that had never before existed within the multiverse:
The mortal path to godhood.
The methodology for constructing an inner universe.
The balance point between fourteen simultaneous laws.
Every one of them had the power to rewrite established theory.
Every one was a forbidden dream sought by countless civilizations.
Several minutes later, the streams stopped.
Levi withdrew his hand.
His face had turned pale.
Nearly thirty percent of his mental energy had been drained.
Wanda immediately steadied him.
Dark crimson Chaos Magic flowed into him, helping stabilize his mind.
Before them, the Recorder of Truth stood motionless.
Its body still glowed as it integrated the newly acquired data.
Several seconds passed.
The light faded.
The runes returned to their normal flow.
The giant lowered its head.
For the first time, its voice contained reverence.
"Remarkable."
"Your few years of evolution are equivalent to the entire lifespan of a universe—from birth to maturity."
It paused.
"More astonishing still..."
"Your inner universe possesses autonomous evolution."
"Stars."
"Planets."
"Life."
"Even the earliest foundations of civilization."
The giant raised a hand.
A three-dimensional star map made of runes appeared above its palm.
It was a representation of Levi’s inner universe.
"This is the first time in the history of the multiverse that a mortal has created a genuine universe within themselves."
"Not a simulation."
"Not a projection."
"A true universe with complete physical laws."
Then it turned toward Wanda.
"Her Chaos Magic is equally unprecedented."
"What was originally Chthon’s cursed power has been redefined under your guidance."
"It has become an ordered form of chaos capable of self-purification and self-evolution."
The runes accelerated once more.
"You have filled two missing pieces in the puzzle of multiversal truth."
"The path by which mortals transcend."
"And the possibility of chaos becoming order."
The giant stepped backward.
Making way for them.
"The exchange is complete."
"All areas of the World Library are now open to you."
Behind it, the inverted crystal tower trembled.
The runes covering its surface exploded into countless golden motes.
They gathered in the air, forming a colossal rift.
The crack tore open the tower’s outer shell.
Inside was a vast realm composed of endless timelines and chains of causality.
Levi saw countless spheres of light floating in space.
Each one represented a complete timeline.
Civilizations rising and falling.
Lives beginning and ending.
Every triumph.
Every tragedy.
Golden threads connected the spheres into an immense web of causality stretching throughout the entire realm.
The threads pulsed like living blood vessels carrying knowledge.
Farther within stood endless floating bookshelves disappearing beyond sight.
Every book radiated an ancient presence powerful enough to distort space itself.
This was the archive of the multiverse.
A complete record stretching back to the birth of the very first universe.
Levi tightened his grip on Wanda’s hand and stepped into the rift.
Behind him, the Recorder of Truth spoke again.
This time, it carried a warning.
"The library is open."
"But some knowledge is poisonous."
"The records concerning the Beyonders are located in the deepest section of the Forbidden Zone."
"Every word there carries conceptual contamination."
Levi paused and glanced back.
"You’re worried about us?"
Several seconds of silence followed.
"I simply do not wish for the source of the valuable data I have just acquired to self-destruct during the reading process."
The tone remained cold.
Yet Levi could hear a trace of humanity in it.
He laughed.
"Don’t worry."
"I’m not that easy to kill."
With that, he led Wanda into the library.
The rift closed behind them.
The Recorder of Truth looked up at the restored crystal tower.
Its massive form gradually sank back into the structure and resumed its eternal duty.
Just before disappearing, a line of text flashed across its surface:
WARNING: Portions of the records concerning the Beyonders on the Seventh Level of the Forbidden Zone have been deliberately erased.
Identity of the eraser: Unknown.
Time of erasure: Three Earth days ago.
The message existed for only a single second before being swallowed by the endless flow of runes.
---
Inside the library, Levi and Wanda stood upon a platform formed entirely from condensed knowledge.
Bookshelves stretched infinitely in every direction.
Each book seemed to breathe beneath a faint glow.
Above them floated countless spheres of light like stars, illuminating the entire space with a brilliance approaching daylight.
Wanda gazed upward in awe.
"This place really records everything?"
Levi nodded.
"In theory."
"From the birth of the first universe..."
"To the extinction of the last civilization."
"It’s all here."
He closed his eyes and activated the Source of Dominion, searching through the ocean of knowledge.
A few seconds later, he opened them.
Golden-red light flashed across his gaze.
"I found it."
"The records concerning the Beyonders are on the Seventh Level of the Forbidden Zone."
"Labum Alal’s file is there as well."
Wanda tightened her grip on his hand.
"Then let’s go."
Levi didn’t move immediately.
Instead, he frowned.
Because he could sense a lingering presence coming from the direction of the Seventh Level of the Forbidden Zone.
It wasn’t the Recorder of Truth.
And it wasn’t part of the library itself.
