Master Of None
Chapter 2863. God Class
The storm clouds began to swirl making a wall. Walker didn't even hesitate to step through them controlling the various water, wind, and fire manas moving around. He could easily manipulate it all. Not because he was using his strength, but because he felt welcomed.
The others found it harder. Gil was using his strength and the high elven dagger technique to channel natural mana to allow himself through. Remey was increasing her usage of flames and basically punching through the clouds trying to block her. Su didn't let the clouds even try to push her back, she was immovable just as her shields needed to be.
Onyx and Midnight did not hesitate either. With their fully exposed proper forms, they cut through the clouds like butter. Did they care that this was an ancient being that had embodied what storms were in the world? No, their older brother and family was in there so they were going too. They would be supportive in this unusual event.
"I was called by the world to meet you, so don't go hiding away. I saw shadows made by your lightning." The words echoed through the mana gathered here and caused the entire storm to begin to swirl.
In just seconds the gray clouds opened up creating a peaceful center. An eye to the storm that had been approaching so rapidly just moments ago.
"Weakness to me. My lightning became static. My clouds became fluffy. The rains that cascaded and eroded mountains had become a mist. The storms had died while I fell to slumber on the very earth itself. I lacked so very much."
"I do not feel lacking any longer."
"Because of you."
The lightning cracked as the clouds and bright flash took the form of a shattered dragon.
Was shattered the right word, or was smokey? Would that fit at all? Walker couldn't make up his mind. This was too similar to the true sages and how they made their bodies out of the elemental manas that they lived and strived to be one with. They had given up their forms to pursue the true essence of those manas and Walker felt that this was the same for the god of storms or lightning or whatever they would call themselves.
But dragon, was right.
Scales made of the gray clouds flashed with lightning in between. Water rolled off its body like storm rains hitting glass windows. Even winds seemed to be moving around it where wings should have been. It was an odd sight, to see a storm take the form of a living being.
"I once crawled on the ground. I once took flight. I once fought the storms of nature themselves. And when I gained victory, I became the storms. I will be as such again now that the world welcomes me. Now that you come to welcome me."
The oddity of how this god class holder spoke seemed to be exactly the way that an ancient being may speak. Not entirely clear, but blunt and somewhat hidden. Intentions unknown yet all too clear.
"You bring a storm that could harm all the people I united. They are preparing for the worst now. Do you come to bring wrath on them?" Walker spoke out and the others stood behind them as they cut through in to the eye of the storm as Walker had done so too.
"I bring nature's balance. I bring destructions with rebirth. I offer lands of barren a breath to take. I cut the tallest to ashes so that a sprout may grow. I embody that, I cut ties so that new may form. Your people must lose so that they may grow again. The world is not built on one people. It is built on balance of all its aspects. My storms will shake those from their slumber. We shall once again exist and offer opportunity and punishment alike."
Walker didn't feel that it was malice, just something that did not comprehend the ways that the intelligent races lived. Yet, he also felt that if he were to fight this dragon, he would find himself making more harm to nature as a whole.
"Then why do you bring a storm here now? Why must you-"
The crack of lightning shot from the clouds and touched the ground causing lightning elemental mana crystals to form.
"I bring forth a new age. My storms will now return. The calm must be equal to the chaos." Walker didn't feel progress was here, but he also understood that if this was an embodiment of storms that could offer opportunity, then he might be able to guide the god of storms better. Maybe, there were places in need of the destructive rebirth he spoke of.
"There are barren lands harmed from the loss of the mana to the world. The broken flow caused them to suffer. The foolish choices of a past race caused damage. Can you be the one that guides it back to the balance you speak of?"
Negotiating like this made the rest of the party a bit surprised. Yet, they also thought of the desert they had been in. The lack of farmland and the downsides of not having much water flowing. For some of that land to return to how it had once been it would take years. Yet, what if this god of storms did something here?
"The balance here is not damaged. It is held closely in the hearts of those with intelligence. Those lacking such intelligence survive safely in their own paths. You do not bring forth the potential for destruction. You are one of the outsiders that has been born within. I feel it from you, a touch of the world, and something greater. You will one day leave here, and return to build it beyond what others may imagine."
"Wise hand of the world, and the greater will. I, god of storms returns and leaves to awaken those who will stand as pillars of what balance should be. Welcome the lightning and I shall bring my storms to all of the world. Allow the storms to balance."
In these words, Walker saw flashes of lightning striking towns. Destroying homes and causing winds to throw entire shacks in to pieces against mountains. He saw floods. Devastating attacks of nature.
He also saw the very things the world needed. Rain in barren soil. Winds to sweep silt toward farmlands and prairies. Lightning to start fires to clear older forests and welcome nourishment to the soils that the seeds would sprout from next.
He didn't see a targeted attack on the people or monster species. He saw balance that would assist everyone equally.
So why was he hesitating when this god was not a class holder awakening to cause turmoil, but one that was looking to balance the world as it was necessary to do so. Why would he consider causing a battle that would harm everyone and everything here just to place a new person in that position who would most likely make the same decisions or grow to fight against him and the people because of their understanding of harm to the balance of the world.
"Then swear you will never act out of malice to destroy for the sake of destruction. Swear here and now that you will speak to me or others who stand to represent the intelligent people if they are doing grave harm to the world. Do not act until all doubts are gone that we can save ourselves from the harm we may be causing. Allow the people a chance to ensure that they can repair their mistakes before your storms grow and destroy them. Now or in the future."
"I do not exist to embody the death of all life. I exist to do what must be done."
"You, child of origin who rose to become more. I swear upon the storms that I will give the opportunity to others to repair damage. To reconcile with their issues. I will never need this form, I am storms. So you, child of origin, may rest well. I have greeted you as the will has asked. Now I shall return to do as I need to do. The storms will always come. They are nourishing. They are as they should be."
The clouds moved and the deep storm became lesser. Yet, it still moved and the winds still threw the light woods or grasses astray. Yet, Walker felt that there was not an intensity that would intentionally cause downfall in this storm.
Even as the dragon's form faded, Walker realized that it had never intended to destroy everything here. It had simply shown that the storms everyone may fear came with a promise.
A promise that the world would be awakening on a whole new level. Not just to become as it should be, but that it was waking up and allowing for the more important class holders to exist again.
The god classes were here and strong. They would grow, they would embody more than what Walker might be able to explain to others. But it was necessary.
