Chapter 2866: 2866. Academy Focus

The academy grounds had been tilled with hard work and some farmers who wished to pay forward their hard work to ensure that those researching farming might get a head start here. This also helped with the various training grounds being built on the outer edges of the academy.

It was a simple reasoning that the academy had to have the training grounds separated. Firstly, there was the fact that the different training grounds would have different uses.

There was the change in terrains so that people would be able to learn a little more about what sort of terrain they could exceed in if they were training fighting techniques or magic. Then there was the secondary fact that these different terrains would allow for alchemists, herbalists, farmers, and even crafters to work on their skills in these environments as well.

The third reason for this was the fact that some students may need more space to test skills. While most people would think about a magical attack that could cause area damage, there were other classes that would need the opportunity of space.

Trackers or scouts being one class that would need the space to search for things within different terrains. A small training area would limit their base discovery of skills. It would also allow them the freedom to make more mistakes and fix their base skills for better future development.

It also took in to consideration that there would be tamers who came to the academy. They would need space for themselves and their tamed monsters. They might even need space to go through taming rites or rituals that were necessary for some tamers. This wasn’t even bringing in to thought the summoners who might appear.

Summoners were actually becoming a little more prevalent recently. Most likely because many of them summoned intelligent or unintelligent monsters from the elemental planes. Walker could delve in to the spatial relationships that had but he knew that it would be a long term dissection of the skills. It would lead him down a rabbit hole of how the world and elemental planes worked.

He didn’t have time for that right this second, but the thoughts remained in the back of his mind.

Walker helped the entire party stay flying in the sky while they overlooked the entire area. They could see the forest building being taken seriously along with the earth mages condensing earth in to solid stones. Even some herbalists transplanted roots here and there to create herb patches that would be cared for and harvested by students.

The idea that students would be here for a short time to begin learning the basics of their skills while also getting a headstart before they joined guilds was coming together. It felt like they were seeing the foundation for something greater being put in place before any one else had the chance to see the bigger picture.

"Those stables are going to be for those who need companions for their training, right?" Onyx had heard of the classes that were not tamers but needed a monster companion.

"Yes, I believe that they are the knights mostly. There are knights that ride various monsters. One that rides an obsidian horse provided all of their saved assets so that others like him could find partners." Since Su had met the man, she knew of his struggles.

It had been seven years since the man had his system while growing up. He had failed to find an obsidian horse because their numbers in the wild were so few and far between. Yet, once he had managed to save one from a trader caravan, he had brought it back to health and been the sole reason that the obsidian horse monster population flourished. One man had done all that and still used more of their influence to do even more.

"There are other similar classes, the basic soldier class, cavalry soldier is one of them. Not as many as I would expect, but they can ride simple monsters, nothing specific." Gil chimed in, having met similar class holders. They would have the chance to learn here too. "The water over there won’t be connected to the rivers. It will be a free standing pond with connections to the underground areas. They are making false caverns under all of this."

That cave system was going to be perfect too. Traps, dangerous pitfalls, and other aspects that would be added to ensure that miners, explorers, and ruin researchers could learn something before they would get out and about in to the world.

"Waker, what do we have to do here again?" Remey was looking at all of this and felt that everyone working on the project here were doing great work. Nothing appeared to be missing and even the things they did not see were somehow being put together. They would be looking at a fully completed academy made by and for the people soon.

"We need to tighten up any issues we find and also make sure that we are here to witness everything being put in place. We also need someone like you to view the building of the alchemy labs for basics. Su can check the various accommodations for healing on site and also the training areas. Midnight needs to check the places where monster races will live, see if we are missing things they need. Onyx should be checking the libraries and ensuring that everything is up to standards. Gil, you should be with the crafters. They will have various crafting rooms made and I know you understand what needs to be done."

Everyone looked at Walker wondering what he was going to say he would be doing. Then they all saw the larger stones being brought in on tougher carriages pulled by some massive iron earth boars. "I will be helping with the foundation for the main academy building where the pen and paper classes will be held. Culture, history, and theory."

They all understood why Walker would focus on the pen and paper knowledge. He could memorize every book he had read and knew that he would be the best person to spot issues in preparations for learning such things. He had also spent a lot of time learning about every single race’s cultures within Genesis. Even the cultures that seemed small and unimportant because of fewer members of that race, he made sure to live up to who he was and learn about them.

How else would he stand as someone who could protect them if he didn’t know their people at all?

With the groups splitting up and heading different ways, many of the workers and staff in the areas they made their way too were shocked. They did not imagine that the hero party would have any time for this project. Yet, here they were, ready to help out the moment that they arrived. It brought the morale of the workers up drastically and in turn, the production.

It also helped spot some glaring issues.

Specifically, a few of the workers brought forward issues related to the rune formations being used in the training areas to acclimate the terrain. Su managed to get the bulk of these worries right away and immediately began explaining the ideas to make the runes interchangeable.

Many of the people working here had yet to hear of this. The interchangeable rune formations would be made on special metal tablets. They could be slotted in to formations to change weather just like the elemental domes project worked. However, these would be more advanced and were being made in special crafting areas so that they would not be damaged. They were also made to much higher durability so that they would last for much longer. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Gil quickly found that the crafting side of things was slow. Not because he was seeing a loss of materials or missing building plans. Simply put, there were too many cooks in the kitchen. All the crafters trying to design the basics crafting areas for students were starting to clash. They each wanted certain tools, certain tables, specific burners.

All of this caused there to be clashing orders. He had to straighten it all out to get the most basic crafting labs for education and not advanced this or that.

Midnight and Onyx surprisingly similar issues. That was the fact that people just weren’t motivated to keep working harder. For Onyx the library staff were not able to read books and were forced to organize and build shelves. So he began to change that. For Midnight, she found that those working on the areas for monster races were not putting enough care in them because they did not understand how they would be lived in. Both needed guidance properly.

Remey found herself with different problems. So did Walker, but they might be better off watching for a while than jumping right in.
