Chapter 2872: 2872. Stronger Still

"You ditched us to go to the water elemental plane?" The annoyance was clear in Remey’s voice as Walker showed up and found them talking about a few of the smaller building issues while eating sandwiches.

From what it appeared, Midnight and Gil were more than happy with their food but Su had paused to look at Walker once he arrived. And of course Remey was ready to ask him exactly what had kept him so long and why they had waited for him for over a day without anyone spotting him.

"I went to help with an issue. There were monsters threatening a race of sentient bubbles that were very much like the spirit race here. They help keep the water mana flowing in balance while also being areas become better for herbs and others to live in. A new elemental plane was added on top of them and the monsters inside it were trying to eat them all."

"They gave me a few herb seeds as thanks. Should I hold on to them or give them to you?" Walker smirked since he knew he had just played a winning card against Remey. There was no way that she would be against receiving some new herbs or seeds. Even if they were some she had seen before, she would be interested in them since they might be of a high quality.

"One root stem of a kelp cactus, never seen it before. Then there are two of the bubble kelp seeds and a few stalks of cylinder grass, seaweed that drifts and gets longer and longer the older it gets." all herbs that could be experimented on by the alchemists and herbalists that would do much more with them than Walker.

"Just give them to me." she grumbled as she pulled out vials that could hold them and keep them from being damaged by other manas. That was a good perk of having Walker hold them for the moment, he could keep other manas from damaging them when they entered the world.

So many herbs and items from the elemental planes developed with singular mana as a focus. Therefore, they would be damaged by the other manas balanced within the world. It was always better to have a way to prevent that damage from happening if someone wished for the herbs to grow or the materials to maintain their quality.

"I think I will get pulled on quests to go to the elemental planes even more soon." This made everyone quiet down and stop eating. Onyx looked up with a worried glint in his eyes. He knew that Walker needed to venture to places without them, but being in more and more dangerous situations without the party didn’t make them happy.

"The elemental planes being brought and merged with the greater elemental planes are causing everyone who serves and works with the elemental kings or the true sages to be too spread out. It’s risking entire races now. I don’t think it’s intentional to cause these risks, but I do believe that it is going to keep happening no matter what."

The worry in the air was enough to tell that everyone thought it was a bad idea to be there alone. But they also understood that Walker was the best of their group to do such things. They also knew that he was being pulled there because of his unique abilities to be able to venture through each of the elemental planes and assist.

"You can’t just go back there and run around for weeks or months again. We will go with you if you need to go. But you have to think about the world and the people here that rely on you." The way that Su spoke wasn’t to berate or go against what Walker was speaking about. She was making sure he was considering everything about what could happen in he were to leave now and what actions he needed to take before any other trip. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

"I know I can’t leave everyone behind. I can’t leave Alice behind either. And I sure as hell won’t be missing Alma and Gil building their family while representing every elf in the world." Walker spoke with a firmness that came with promise and not a maybe in sight.

"That’s why I am going to take time away from projects and learn more about space mana. I can teleport short distances alone. If I wish to be like the original race members I have seen, then I need to think bigger. I need to learn how to teleport through the world to the elemental plane and so on. If I can do that then I will be able to help everywhere and not just in one place. I could avoid traveling for months."

The idea was not a bad one. The issue was that he would need time to understand and figure these things out. The rest of the party knew this all too well.

Being able to teleport was already a major innovation for the elemental teleportation formations being used within Genesis. Being able to do so by using elemental manas to influence space? One Walker and maybe a few others could be called competent enough to do that.

But being able to teleport outside of the world and in to the elemental planes without going through a bridge? Impossible maybe? Or only possible under certain circumstances by those who could learn and grow certain affinities?

The answers were not solid but they all believed Walker would be the person who could do so.

"I know that it seems like I keep leaving projects partially finished, but I think it’s better that I let people develop the ways that they would without me holding hands or using skills they can’t use themselves. I even have skills and strengths that others can’t use in the entirety of Genesis. I might cause a break in what might be possible, then leave and set everyone back months or years in their research."

It wasn’t something unfounded again. He knew that he was influencing others constantly.

Case and point, he has helped with the rune formations lately. The elemental domes were inspired with what he had helped show. But would they have developed that quickly without him? What about the floating islands? Would he have been any help without showing those naturally occurring rune formations?

No, he had influenced those projects and they were able to move ahead because of his input. If they wish to keep progressing, he shouldn’t keep pushing them beyond those walls because they may not be able to progress if they don’t overcome those walls themselves.

"I need to trust our people to grow without us. That’s how more will take the lead and become strong like us. So I need to step back and push for what you can do for the greater picture in the future. I will enjoy the now because of who and what I am and as things get bigger, as my vision expands, I will make choices."

Everyone nodded, accepting his thought process and ideas. But Walker noticed that a few glances were saying that if he didn’t take things slower he might get beaten up.

"So, I think we should also talk about the fact that I saw a monster from the depths of the water elemental planes brought to the edges to handle dangers too. That means we would see monsters that might sleep for years and years at any point because they are the strongest and capable beings able to help these issues."

Now everyone was interested. They had seen some wild things in the elemental planes. But the monsters that would threaten massive areas of the elemental planes were few and far between.

"It was called a gulper catfish. It could eat entire lakes and ponds to gather the water mana it needs. So, I was wondering what else might be around that we were protected from when we visited the elemental planes. I am pretty sure not all of us could have fought that gulper catfish easily."

The ideas started to flow as Walker began chatting strategy. The more that he got in to it, the more that Gil started to explain some unique arrows he had made for trapping or temporarily poisoning monsters.

Whether everyone realized it or not, Gil and Remey had worked on some amazing toxic potions that could paralyze dragons easily. They had been working to make potential arrows that would help if they had to fight beings like the party saw the last time they were in the outer elemental planes.

While they were nowhere near the strength of those massive and ancient beings, it was a start that proved more to Walker than he realized.

His family was stronger too, and he hadn’t realized it.
