Chapter 2874: 2874. Split training

"Do you think brother will be alright?" Midnight walked along with Onyx in her shadow. They had left Walker, who had crossed his legs and tried to mediate right then and there. He had forgone leaving for a more peaceful area so that he could challenge himself while he reflected on the manas within his body.

It also helped that Gil could be left alone too since he was trying to adapt his own mana and knowledge. He was being helped by Walker and could use fewer distractions as well.

"They will both be fine. Gil is going to learn a lot. But, sister, our older brother is trying to understand what he is and how he can keep standing as a pillar for everyone. He is trying to be a champion of the world."

The way that nyx put it brought everything in to a better perspective for Midnight. She understood Walker as powerful and driven. A shining example of what people should strive to become in life.

Yet, she also didn’t fully grasp the turmoil within his heart because he shielded a lot of those emotions from their bond. Onyx could understand to a different degree because he had become a pillar for the young serpents as well. He even became the first of his very own race changing the standing of every little serpent born and one day to be born.

"He will be stronger too?" rolling her shoulders and slightly shifting her hands in to claws that would be more similar to her dragon clawed from, Midnight chose to ignore the hard to grasp intricacies. She would rather think about the strength that Walker would have if he managed to succeed in his current goals.

"Brother is always getting stronger. He doesn’t share as much mana with us any more. I noticed him holding back from our bonds because sometimes he has too much mana in his body." Midnight faltered and showed a downtrodden expression that onyx did not like at all coming from Midnight who was always so energetic and free.

"He is worried about us, so we should get stronger too. You and Su train a lot, I train a lot. But what if we challenged ourselves and tried to break through a weakness of who we are?" This captured Midnight’s entire focus.

She liked to think that she would be able to surprise Walker and everyone else by taking a massive leap ahead. That way she wouldn’t feel like she was still falling behind as she and everyone always felt when comparing themselves to Walker. His growth was always rapid.

"I can try to break free of my limited mobility. I use the shadows, but why can’t I use the light as the light forward affinity young serpents do? If I could, I could move through the sky." This was making Onyx excited now too.

"I will become stronger than all the royal dragons together and mix all the manas together to make a dragon core." Onyx lost his happy excitement and froze for a moment.

What Midnight was saying she would do was similar to how Ignus and Remey had shared unique fire mana and condensed it. They had gone through a process to step toward Ignus becoming a fire dominator dragon. But Midnight was saying she would not only do something similar, she would take something that was somewhat fantastical for dragons and make it real.

The stress and worry associated with that was all too clear for Onyx as he looked at her, but he would never convince her not to. She wasn’t going to shy away from this now so he could only hope to support her.

The two stuck together with their own goals now, meanwhile, Gil was looking at the manas mixing around Walker and opening himself to them.

The mixing of water and fire to make steam kept him focused for a moment, but when Walker added wind causing the fire mana to become lesser and the water to condense, he understood clouds better. He started to understand the rain better.

These small interactions as manas shifted and balanced at different ratios were the situations that Gil needed to see more. He could wait for nature to show him and struggle for the right opportunities to learn. Or he could challenge Walker to keep showing him these unique ratios of mana. Keep pushing himself to grasp why they worked and what caused an imbalance that broke the flow.

This would set his base for channeling manas from his techniques in to his arcane archery. Bring it above the level of understanding he has and progress to new skills. Not only forming the basis for others to follow him, but also to become unique archers within their own right.

He had considered a woman who had been a ranger before she came to Genesis. She had hated the place. No trees. Not enough nature for her. Too many people of all shapes and sizes. So, she had left in the middle of the night during a rainstorm only to find that she was comfortable within Genesis while it was downpouring.

Gil and heard her describing her inspiration. How she saw the drops of rain falling and wondered if she could use long distance archery in the same way as rain fell. That idea had spurred her to become a raining archer, an archer that channeled water mana in to her arrows and allowed it to fly in to the clouds causing the mana she added to help steer the arrow in to targets further and further away.

It was unique but specific. Perfect to show how inspiration could start with emotion. Progress with awe. That being comfortable somewhere might be the issue.

Therefore, he made sure he wasn’t comfortable. He let the flames from fire mana lick his skin while channeling mana. He let the ice build across his arm when he saw the mana shift and become windy frost. He let the light and darkness mana dance around him as shadows gaining a deeper shaky effect as earth mana was added.

As these effects touched Gil’s techniques and altered his perception, Walker also was sensing different things.

He was sensing how Gil allowed the mana within his body to interact with the manas Walker controlled. He saw how Gil let down his defenses and accepted that some harm may come by allowing the effects to touch him.

These reactions were worrying, but Walker understood why. Gil was trying to let his body and mind meet the true understandings that most people would miss. Mages would delve in to the mana they wished to learn and surround themselves with it, so why would Gil go against such a tactic when it worked?

But this interaction showed Walker that the manas he manipulated could be taken and used. Gil was able to channel them which was something they had done before. Walker used natural mana to buff or help others gather mana. It was normal for him.

Where this changed was when Gil took that mana and controlled it. The difference in delicate handling or manipulation was showcasing the difference in perspective and how mana should be channeled by certain skills or spells. The methods were different because of who utilized them.

Seeing that Gil’s internal life mana also shifted while doing this proved another point. Gil was pushing himself to develop against a barrier of potential. Something held back that would need the stress to advance.

It was the same as people who did the same thing every day. They would get used to it. Complacent. Gilw as breaking that wall of complacency and his body was reading that change. Feeling that stress. The muscles that Gil used were being worked differently and his internal manas that he could not freely manipulate like life and death mana that would naturally dwell within everyone reacted.

These natural reactions told a story that Walker could only look at and realize he too had forgotten to stretch these muscles.

He wanted to teleport through space and that chaotic area between the world and the elemental planes. Because that chaotic mana area existed as a buffer, it allowed for an opportunity.

The idea rang through his mind.

That buffer space with chaotic manas was not entirely open like the chaotic space outside of the greater elemental planes. It was between the world and the elemental planes keeping them separated from one another. Causing the chaotic mana to potentially come to the world and the elemental planes and requiring the bridges to exist.

If he learned to push through those chaotic manas that could cause corruption, not only would he grow stronger as a member of the origin race, but he might just be able to walk through them using teleportation magic of some form. The idea sparked in his mind while he raced through potential ideas.
