Chapter 2890. Head To Head

"Think that was enough fun to start more people in to researching classes later?" Gil looked like a man with a plan, Walker just gave a single nod and kept listening. It was very interesting to see where Gil was planning to take this.

At one point, Walker realized that Gil had begun to properly think further and further ahead. Not just about his relationship and the family he and Alma was building. He was considering the potential that releasing information would have.

"Bea is important because she has a set of skills that use spatial mana and can be very valuable to the merchant side of Genesis. Especially since more and more people will try to make their fortune in trade with every kingdom. There will still be arguments and disagreements, but the council has been handling the big ones perfectly."

He seemed to be picking up energy while talking. Walker had only seen this enthusiasm when Gil spoke about the arrows and archery training he did or with Alma when he had first made decisions about being with her.

"We can document the protection that Bea had as a new class user who could forge a path for the merchant guild and apply it to how others are treated in other guilds and kingdoms. It will set a standard that everyone who is awakening their class should have the value and opportunity equally. Make sure that people are not being thrown to the side for their class because even those tossed away or considered useless can awaken a newer class or progress their class to something beyond the norm."

This was the important part.

Classes were now something unique that could be grown and changed. People had grasped that, but it was only surface level. The overall public needed to hear and see more evidence to really let that fact sink in to their hearts. It was hard to adjust when most of their lives they had known that they would be lucky just to awaken a connection with the system of their own.

But the world had been damaged. Now that it was fixed, opportunity was too small of a word for the potential that everyone could possess.

"From there we share the research results and put value on tracking how someone gained a class or how people can try to do the same or find new classes. If we do it right…" he trailed off with a big goofy grin. All the while the sound of Bea protesting her need for rest to a researcher who was equally falling asleep in their chair.

"You seem to know everything you need to know to make all of this work, do i even need to do anything?" The laughter that they shared was enough to know that this small side event was a foundation being placed for a future that Gil was going to support.

"You know I can't head out anywhere for a while. The elemental planes, exploring, anything but being here with Alma will become what I have to do until our child is running around getting in to trouble like us. We are still young but we aren't really. Time sort of became an after thought."

This was all too true for the party. Their strength had shown that they would not age the same as an average weaker person. They had stepped to a level that had their lifespan much higher and most likely breaking every idea that someone of a longer lived race would have.

Gil knew this, so he grasped that his perception was changing. That he and everyone else of the party were slowly losing the fact that they could spend days or weeks on something and feel like it was just a couple of hours or even just a single day.

That didn't come from someone who knew they might only live a hundred years. That came from someone who subconsciously understood that their lifespan was in hundreds or close to thousands of years if they chose to keep growing and keep progressing.

For Gil, he understood that even to a normal high elf, he was something different.

His mixed blood or standing aside, Gil had strengthened resistances that no one other than the party had. Even Alma would not be able to stand beside him in that. It made him sad at first, but it also made him think smarter. Look at the future with more intent and focus.

If he would live this long. Life so long that he might see children, grandchildren, and children's grandchildren, then he was going to ensure that he was able to be prepared. He would make sure that the world they grew up in was so well built that they didn't need to worry about building it.

They could be free and enjoy life to their heart's content. Dreams, passions, and whatever else came up, he was paving the way for it all now.

"Seems like you have it all planned out." Walker knew that Gil had just cemented his feelings and didn't talk about all this like he was doing something different than everyone else.

What Gil was saying was that he had his goals clear in mind and had accepted he was forging the path every day. Whether he could go on adventures or not, he was prioritizing this path for now. Once he was comfortable in it, he would look at other aspects of what he could do.

"I think the more annoying part is, even if you take a break from training entirely you'll still find a way to keep up with everyone." Walker just knew this was how it would be.

"Don't say that like you are complaining! You and your monstrous growth will make it look like everyone else wasn't even trying." The response made Walker laugh even harder.

"By the way, do you think we can make some teleporting arrows? I fire them, they teleport, then they hit what I aimed at as long as there isn't any mana interfering too much. What are your thoughts?"

The conversation drifted to familiar territory. It led Walker and Gil for a while before eventually they split back up. Their conversions and plans fresh in their minds. Whether they were related or not, they could only ever think of one another as brothers.

Meanwhile….

"Sister, just because you have grown does not mean you can compete easily with me." This comment made Midnight somewhat angry. She was used to Onyx helping but was not used to him taking an arrogant and forceful route against her.

But that was what came when Onyx took charge of the future of every hatching serpent within Genesis. He fought back and stood his ground, he just hadn't had to show Midnight his firm side just yet. She knew of it, but now she was getting a real taste.

While the two glared at one another, the cause of the problem was still at the forefront of their minds.

Not only had a newly hatched serpent gotten in to a fight with a hatchling, the fight had caused damage to a food stall and harmed several workers there.

The apologies and compensation was simple to pay from both sides. Dragon and serpents. But the cause and reasoning of the fighting was tougher.

The hatchlings couldn't easily explain their cause for fighting. They had both wanted food. Their guardians were focused on getting that food. But once it was heard that they were going to be getting the last serving the two followed their instincts more than their teaching.

Where Midnight and Onyx came it to it was the aftermath.

Which one was the right one? Who was the wrong?

Both could argue either to be the one at fault and the two of them trying to stand for who they were supposed to brought even more complications.

Midnight had expected that Onyx would fall in line and own up to it. But he had knuckles down and placed blame on her. How she had taken time with the dragon hatchlings meaning that this was also a failure for her.

But Midnight believed the same for Onyx.

While they had argued before as siblings, this was the first basis of arguments that came for them to stand up for their own races.

Where they were blind though, was that they were both at fault. That both should stand united and speak to how they needed to teach the young better. Potentially adjust guardianship to the young to teach them these things. To remind everyone that every race had the same destructive potential if they do not take the time to be mindful of others.

At the moment though, their hissing and growling is as all people saw.

It was not the image they needed to embody in everything they did.
