Masteria Online: Shattering the Dark God's Grand Scheme
Chapter 232 - The pit
TWANG!
Suddenly, countless tree branches snapped as a trap went off. Immediately, countless sharp wires lifted up from the ground and pulled, the sharp strings intertwined in dozens of spots, trapping Currway.
"You joke!" Currway immediately slammed his foot hard into the ground in order to lunge forward. His strength was more than capable to effortlessly destroy this trap that "bound" him.
However, that required being able to use the strength.
As soon as he slammed his foot into the ground, it gave as the ground shattered, revealing a pit that had been dug for him. He didn’t even fall. No, he was strung up mid-air, with no access to any surface to exert leverage with.
Hazy stepped out of the shadows. He didn’t speak, nor did he order with his body. The plan was already in motion, and nothing would stop it.
Currway struggled against the wires for just a second, before realizing his predicament. Instead, he exerted strength through his right arm, breaking through the wires. He then slashed at the rest with his claws...
But that took time.
In the time it took for him to half-escape...
Sploosh!
Several glass bottles were thrown against him, breaking, spilling their sticky contents. Immediately afterwards, magicians cast dozens of fireballs at the demon, and he was set ablaze.
"AAH-" Currway wanted to scream, but then he remembered, that girl, that demon in human flesh, must still be around! If he dared open his mouth too long, he’d get a bomb shoved in.
"Here," Behind a boulder, a trio of Fire Wizards from Herene had just finished with a crucible. They carefully passed the burning hot pot to Lena. "What... what was this for?" Though they had received the instruction, it was without explanation.
"Shhhh." Lena cheekily silenced them, and jumped out, carrying the molten metal. She teleported over on a preprepared spot she had planned on the spot with Hazy.
To release himself, Currway instead forced his left arm out, and clawed at the wires stifling his legs. He was free, and gravity sent him down. As soon as he fell into the pit and touched the dirt...
"AHHHHHHHHH!" He could no longer hold it in. These humans were demons, demons! Much more than him! As if being on fire wasn’t painful enough, it was the case that the bottom of the pit was filled with a sticky glue laced with spice! He was on fire with spice inside a body riddled with cuts.
Lena didn’t make a single sound. If she dared make her presence known, she was sure Currway would shut up immediately. She had gone as far as to take off her robes and roll around in the mud for this, just to make Currway hesitate for even half a second.
She reached the end, and poured...
The molten metal fell directly into the screaming demon’s mouth.
"For Micheal!" Jumping out of the trees, two dozen members of the Church of Micheal came out, all wielding guns.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
They flooded the demon with gunshots, aiming at any weak point he had.
Currway was in absolute agony. He was able to move, but life was torture for him at the moment. He was injured. He was on fire. He had spice in his injuries and eyes. Molten metal in his mouth.
The entire time, he was not idle. He kept trying to find his footing, but he was in impossible circumstances. He eventually stuck his claws into the wall, and lunged upwards, flying out of the pit. He finally stepped on solid ground again...
"CHARGE!" A row of shieldbearers rushed Currway at full speed, knocking him back. Currway’s expression shifted with endless malice.
If they wanted him in the pit, they could come with! He brought out his massive arms, embracing as many warriors as he could, six, and grabbed them, bringing them falling into the pit with him.
CRUNCH.
He crushed two of their heads in, one in each claw. As if popping bubbles, he moved to the next set of two.
CRUNCH.
Then the last two.
CRUNCH.
Currway got on his feet, and lunged out...
Only for a massive gust of wind to hit him, halting his momentum early as he fell back. He would not let this happen for free, not anymore. In his hands were the mangled remains of the warriors shields.
He noted the group of mages and archers who had generated such a force, and threw the managed shields out.
BANG!
It was too difficult to react to a piece of metal thrown faster than a car. Two bowmen immediately had their guts shredded and died on the spot.
This time, Currway would not simply lunge or jump. He dug his claws into the wall, and began to climb, one step at a time.
This time, it was impossible to stop him, despite the arrows and spells landing on him, cracking his scales and tearing his flesh.
Hazy materialized from the shadows directly behind him, dagger aimed at his spine. The blade struck- or would have, if Currway’s tail hadn’t intercepted it by pure combat instinct.
But Hazy had attacked with the intention of being retaliated against, as he dissolved into shadows before the counter-attack could land, becoming temporarily immune as he used Dark Sight.
Another thief attacked from the left, with their dagger seeking the soft tissue under Curraway’s jaw. The demon blocked with his forearm, deflecting the blade.
At the same exact time, another thief lunged at him from the right, aiming for his kidney. Yet another from above, having climbed a dead tree, dropped down with both daggers extended.
Their blows landed, though none of the strikes did significant damage. But they forced Currway to defend from all angles simultaneously. His attention was split, his focus divided, and he was left with his powerful attacks interrupted before they could land.
Currway closed in on Hazy. If he just used Dark Sight, then he must be vulnerable now. He reached his claws out, and though Hazy attempted to dodge, he was grabbed by the head.
During this time, a shadowed figure quickly used Dark Sight, turning invisible and invulnerable, approaching Currway...
