Masteria Online: Shattering the Dark God's Grand Scheme
Chapter 231 - Lock In
They may be weak strikes, contributing nearly nothing to his death. Yet when there were enough of these meaningless strikes, they would eventually add up.
Currway scoffed, and swept his tail through the warriors, killing them both.
[Duo Rhere has died]
[Jay C has died]
Three more rushed in immediately.
Currway snarled. He was stuck in an endless cycle. He killed one, got hit by a dozen weak attacks, he killed another, and got hit by another weak attack. "Is this all you have!?" He growled with his mouth mostly closed. "Weak attacks from weak humans!"
He leapt past the row of shields, landing on top of a bowman. He rammed his foot into their head, smushing it into paste. He stared directly into the eyes of another to see if he would see fear.
Instead, they smiled.
"AGHHH!" Currway swept his tail and smashed her chest in. He was killing most of them in one strike, their blows barely affected him, and yet he was breathing slightly harder now. The constant assault was slowly, but surely getting to him.
"Hey buddy!" Lena shouted out through the battlefield, hoping to catch his attention. "Can you come kill me, pretty pretty please?~"
Currway physically recoiled. Go to her!? She must have a massive trap set up! No way, no way he’d be baited by her words again.
"Holy Arrows!" Lena swept her wand out and cast literally nothing. "Holy Arrows! Holy Arrows!" She still didn’t cast. She frowned exaggeratedly, "Come on, why don’t you dodge my arrows."
Another mace hit Currway’s thigh before he realized that he was being scammed by her yet again! She was wasting his time!
He immediately turned his body, swinging his tail hard enough to send two thieves who were approaching flying.
Boom! One of the players who had attended the Church of Micheal congregation blasted Currway in the snout, the bullet landing directly in the demon’s nostril. In a single movement, Currway impaled the man, and with a twist of his wrist, fully severed his body.
"Holy arrows!" Lena spoke once more, but this time, she truly did cast her spell. Multiple arrows of pure holy energy shot from her wand, striking him directly.
Searing hot pain suddenly radiated from his back. Yet, he couldn’t even turn around as the blow struck his back as three more warriors appeared in front of him. They grinned and swung their greatswords at him.
The pain was sending a rush through his body that he had long forgotten with decades of idleness. His eyes grew savage.
"Die."
He lunged forward to the three warriors. He understood his problem now. He was reacting. He was thinking. All he had to do was kill. To slaughter everyone as fast as he could.
His large maw gaped open, when he lunged, he immediately bit the middle warrior in half, as his two claws impaled the other two. He smashed them together, breaking their bodies and leaving them lifeless on the floor.
There was the priest, wasn’t there?
Currway spun, trying to locate her in the chaos. His eyes scanned the battlefield, searching for the one who had tricked him.
Lena had already repositioned herself behind a cluster of warriors for protection. She stuck her tongue out. "Boo! Can’t catch me! I’m very good at not dying!"
"Endless... slaughter..." Currway’s body began to vibrate. He noticed the line of shield bearers were about to reach him again.
Good.
With a twist of his leg...
SWOOSH~ The demon turned into a rapidly spinning hurricane of death, and flew into the formation of warriors. He had learned his lesson. If all the shields at once could take him, then he’d merely circle the edge and concentrate his force.
BOOM!
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
With each rotation, his sharp claws and heavy tail struck a few warriors, sending them flying across the battlefield.
"Heal!" Lena targeted a warrior who’d taken a direct hit from Currway’s tail. The player’s ribs were broken, yet he was alive despite being slumped against a tree. His eyes went wide he saw his meager health bar go from nearly empty to half. "How overpowered..."
He met her eyes. "Thanks, Lena!"
"Anytime!" She was already scanning for her next target. "Just keep him busy!"
"Holy Arrows!" She sent a few more attacks while she ran across the battlefield to find the injured warriors.
Scattered at long range were various archers. A volley of arrows filled the air, nearly fifty projectiles arcing up before descending toward Currway. Most bounced off harmlessly, deflected by his natural armor.
"Archers!" Vice’s voice cut through the chaos from his position at the rear. "The demon is missing plenty of scales. Lock in! You’re all great shots, so aim at the exposed spots!"
When the next wave of arrows came, the results were much better. Many had still entirely missed, but some really met their marks.
One embedded itself in the thigh, adding to the damage already there.
Another struck his right arm, impaling within and sticking in.
A third grazed his snout, drawing a thin line of blood.
Currway’s movements became slightly more awkward. The arrows weren’t doing much damage individually, but they were adding up. More importantly, they were interfering with his mobility, making certain movements painful.
The problem with arrows was the lack of way of dealing with them when embedded. If ignored, you were fighting with a sharp piece of metal in your flesh. If you tear them out... you destroyed your own flesh.
Hazy’s voice whispered in the corner. "Thieves. What we talked about. Now."
Currway leapt directly at a five-man squad of mages. He intentionally landed on two of them, killing them instantly. He didn’t even reach for the others. He grabbed a boulder, and when the magicians teleported away in a panic, he hurled it at one of them.
Unable to teleport again, that magician exploded into bloody bits.
Before he could be surrounded by warriors once more, he leapt at another magician with his maw wide open. This time, he didn’t even need the follow up because his speed was so incredible that the magician was unable to react, and got chopped in half by his massive maw.
But when he landed, Hazy silently grinned. It was time for the snake to bleed.
