Thank Bilatis for this Chapter.
I am off to write again, bye.
Aria then looked at Asher, who was searching for a place to stay since it was about to get dark, and asked, "So what’s our strategy for tomorrow’s clash with the other students?"
Asher replied without looking back, "Simple. We rest today, then head to the center tomorrow, hide, and wait for the other teams to eliminate each other. Just before the portal opens, we’ll come out and leave this test site without failing."
Adam looked at him and said, "But that means we won’t get any points for eliminating enemies. And what if they don’t fight and just wait for you instead? You do know the other students either hate you or are jealous of you."
Asher finally stopped walking, glanced back at Adam, and said, "Other students hate me. Why? I never did anything. Well, I did ignore or disrespect some nobles and a princess, but nothing more than that. Why would they target me? And what are they even jealous of—my special modified fruit juice? They could have just asked for it if they wanted some. I’m not that stingy; I would have given it to them. I have plenty."
Adam sighed and said, "To nobles, being ignored and disrespected is akin to being hurt. They will hold a grudge against you."
Asher then said, "These noble kids are really petty for some reason."
Aria also instinctively nodded. "Hmm."
Noah looked at both of them and thought, Aren’t you two also nobles? And even the highest-ranked ones at that. I can understand Asher, but it seems even Aria is getting influenced by him.
But Noah didn’t say anything about these thoughts and instead targeted the easiest person—Adam. "Aren’t you also a noble? You were humiliated by him too, so why don’t you take revenge?"
Adam didn’t take the bait and simply ignored Noah. He thought, I’m not an idiot to fight this monster who can kill a gold-rank beast alone in less than five minutes.
He then continued, "As for jealousy..." He glanced at Aria and didn’t say anything further.
Asher sighed and thought, Do these guys have a brain between their legs or something else?
Aria ignored Adam’s last comment.
She then shook her head slightly and said, "Not all of them will do the same. Eventually, someone will run out of patience."
She glanced toward the darkening forest before continuing, "When that happens, they’ll start fighting each other for rankings and points. Fear and ambition will push them into conflict even if they try to avoid it at first."
Asher then said, "As for rest, I’ll just defeat them if they come in my way," a dangerous smile forming on his face. He then continued walking.
The others didn’t say anything on his comment and simply followed him.
Asher soon found a suitable spot near a cluster of large rocks, slightly elevated from the forest floor. It offered decent cover from the wind and reduced visibility from a distance, making it safer for the night.
They all settled there and ate fruits for dinner. When it was time to sleep, they followed the same order as the previous night for keeping watch.
As soon as the first light of the sun touched their temporary camp, all of them woke up and then had breakfast.
Noah then said, "Finally, it’s the last day of the test. We’ll finally be able to bathe and sleep on a soft bed tonight."
Everyone nodded at his words, and they all started traveling toward the endpoint of the test, where the portal would open.
All four of them continued toward the center while ignoring the beasts and killing only those they could not avoid. With all four of them together, there was hardly any beast capable of harming them.
But suddenly, both Aria and Asher stopped. Asher had a serious expression on his face, with a hint of interest in his eyes.
Adam asked, "What happened?" in a nervous tone.
Asher manifested his mana and created a dome of mana around them.
Aria raised an eyebrow in surprise and said, "An isolation barrier to hide our presence from enemies? You can use stealth techniques too?"
Asher thought to himself, I infiltrated one of the biggest assassin guilds, took over half of its members, and am planning to take over the entire guild. Of course I can use stealth techniques. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
But he wasn’t an idiot who would reveal something like that, so he simply replied, "Of course I can use them. Did you forget that I’m an assassin?"
All three of them nodded and thought, ’You don’t fight like one, you kill like one.’
Aria pointed her hand in front of them.
When Adam and Noah looked there, they saw a humanoid figure, but it was completely black, and its body swayed like a shadow in the wind.
Asher then said, "It is a mutated beast that can use the shadow element, and its rank is Gold 5-Star Peak. It will probably break through to 6-Star within a week."
Mutated beasts are born with a natural attribute from birth, and their entire bodies can transform into that element without reaching the Master Rank, unlike humans. Humans can only transform their bodies into the element they have mastered after reaching a high enough rank and possessing sufficient mana, but these beasts do not need to reach the Master Rank to achieve this.
They are extremely rare.
A normal beast can also reach the Master Rank by mastering an element, just like humans.
Adam then asked while looking at Asher, "We’re not going to fight it, right? It’s a Gold 5-Star mutated beast . It won’t be easy to kill."
Asher said, "Yeah, we are not fighting it. We’ll take a detour to reach the center," and then they started walking away from the beast without letting it sense their presence.
Adam and Noah sighed in relief, thanking God that this crazy bastard had decided not to fight it.
Meanwhile, Asher thought, ’Why kill it now? After the test ends and the supervisors leave the island, my other vessel can take care of it easily.’
