Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride
Chapter 1362 - 1356: Depending on How Relentlessly You Pursue Me
Sophia Hamilton’s text had just been sent when Evander Lancaster replied.
...Don’t worry, before the baby is born, I’ll make sure Mom is satisfied.
Sophia Hamilton: So I’m just here to make Mom happy...
She added an enraged question mark afterward.
After the message was sent, her phone indicated the other party was typing, and shortly Evander Lancaster replied.
...Slip of the tongue, I mean make both you and Mom happy,
...Does that work for you now?
Looking at the two messages that followed, Sophia Hamilton curved her lips. Just as she was about to send a text saying she wanted to sleep, another message popped up.
...Stop overthinking, go to sleep early, or let my son stay up and wear you out!!
Even though it was a threatening tone, Sophia Hamilton’s heart was sweet, and she quickly edited a reply in Evander Lancaster’s tone.
...Be here on time tomorrow morning to pick me up. If you’re late by one minute, I’ll wear you out!
Disconnecting her phone from the internet, she placed it on the bedside cabinet, pulled the thin blanket over herself, and drifted off.
In the apartment, Evander Lancaster looked at the message from Sophia Hamilton, his lips unconsciously curling upward. After putting his phone away, he leaned back against the bed and sighed.
Honestly, he didn’t care about that piece of paper, just like he initially assured Juliana Lancaster, as long as the two liked each other, that little book was just decoration.
But for Sophia Hamilton and her mother, it was a form of acknowledgment, a legitimate proof for her daughter.
With two months left until the child is born, he must get the household registration from his mother by then, as promised to Juliana Lancaster.
In the morning, Sophia Hamilton was eating the food her mother made, grumbling as she ate, "Mom, your skills have declined. The grouper isn’t as delicious as Evander’s... This Chinese broccoli is a bit greasy; olive oil would be better..."
Juliana Lancaster moved a chair over and sat down, casting an impatient glance, "If it’s not good, let Evander make it for you! Honestly, you get picky despite having food, all thanks to Evander spoiling you!"
Even while being criticized by her mother, Sophia Hamilton remained unbothered and delightedly said, "Mom, you should be happy your daughter found such a good man."
"Yeah, I’m happy, even lanterns couldn’t find a man as good as Evander!"
"Exactly," Sophia Hamilton echoed happily, despite criticizing her mother’s cooking, she had two bowls of rice.
Before leaving, she stuffed her crossbody bag with snacks. Juliana Lancaster sighed helplessly; her daughter had truly been spoiled by Evander Lancaster, becoming fussier with food and resembling a child, perpetually needing snacks.
"Mom, I’m off to work. Bye-bye."
Sophia Hamilton waved at her mother, who feigned impatience, waving back, "Go on, you’re annoying!"
"Hehe, I’ll come back tonight." Sophia Hamilton cheekily grinned at her mother, closed the door, and exited happily, carrying thoughts of that check.
Five million, seems like I’ll need to ask the president for leave soon.
In front of the apartment building, Evander Lancaster’s car was already parked there. Sophia Hamilton opened the passenger seat door and got in.
"Hm, prompt pick-up for the princess, you deserve praise!"
Before the car started, Evander Lancaster glanced over, amused, asking, "Little thing, are you that happy after just one night apart?"
"Of course, distance makes the heart grow fonder!" Sophia Hamilton adjusted the seatbelt to its longest length to avoid it pressing against the baby in her belly.
Evander Lancaster maneuvered the steering wheel, passing the building in front, heading out of the community, "How long do you plan to stay with Mom?"
"Well, that depends on how tenaciously you pursue me."
"Little thing, rest assured, I guarantee your satisfaction!" Evander Lancaster gritted his teeth, just pretending for his mother, fine, he’s willing to cooperate.
The sedan came to a halt at the company’s entrance, and before getting out, Sophia Hamilton reminded him, "Come early to pick me up after work, make a statement, preferably with a bouquet of roses or something."
Evander Lancaster was somewhat amused, "Alright, my ancestor, got it."
Sophia Hamilton raised her brow, satisfied, and as she climbed out of the passenger seat, her expression instantly shifted coldly, addressing the man in the driver’s seat, "Watch it, don’t repeat it, and don’t pester me in the future!"
She slammed the car door shut and strode coldly towards the company’s entrance.
Evander Lancaster was somewhat taken aback by her shouting, and seeing the staff trickling into the building, he quickly realized.
Little thing, turns out it’s just for show.
Sophia Hamilton wobbled her pregnant belly towards the elevator area, and inside a female staff member whispered in another’s ear behind her hand. Once she walked into the elevator, they immediately separated, greeting her with smiles, "Good morning, Secretary Hamilton."
"Morning," Sophia Hamilton forced a smile, then turned coldly, having overheard her gossip earlier...
The elevator stopped at the PR department floor, and after the female employee exited, she sneered at the closed doors, "Pretentious, pregnant without even a title!"
"Assistant Vice Manager Xavi, has the PR department turned into a gossip column?" Ewan Zimmerman appeared behind the female employee, Madeleine Xavi smiled at him, "Oh, Assistant Zimmerman, morning~"
Ewan Zimmerman kept a stern face, "Focus on work. If the president finds out, prepare to pack your things!"
Watching Ewan Zimmerman leave, Madeleine Xavi pursed her lips in defiance, yet dared not say anything.
Due to Nathan Moore covering for her, no one dared to gossip about Sophia Hamilton’s premarital pregnancy at the company, but Madeleine Xavi seemed out of sorts today for some reason.
Reaching the president’s office floor, Sophia Hamilton placed her crossbody bag and first went to tidy the president’s office. As she organized documents on the desk, she wiped it down with a cloth. Nathan Moore entered just as she had almost finished cleaning.
"President, good morning."
Sophia Hamilton greeted cheerfully, Nathan Moore responded coolly, his onyx eyes instinctively falling on her swollen belly, envious; it’s been over half a year, and still no news from Titus Zane.
After Nathan Moore took off his jacket and hung it on the rack himself, he said, "From now on, let the cleaning lady handle the tidying."
"It’s alright, President, it’s not tiring." Sophia Hamilton replied with the towel in hand, then asked for leave before exiting the office, "President, I want to go out for a bit to handle some things, I’ll be back in about half an hour."
"Go ahead, have the driver take you, no need to rush back." Nathan Moore adjusted his suit pants and sat down at the office desk.
"Thank you, President." Although she knew Nathan Moore was courteous because of Evander Lancaster, she still said pleasantries, as it’s work time after all.
Nathan Moore opened a document, "Among family, no need for formalities."
Ever since living with Titus Zane, he’s become more patient, no longer wearing a stern expression all day like before.
