Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride
Chapter 1368 - 1362: Induced Labor
In the gynecology consultation room, Sophia Hamilton was pressed into the chair by two men. When the doctor saw her high, swollen belly, she also looked troubled.
"Madam, this..."
"What? You can’t get rid of it?" Violet Zimmerman asked coldly. Right now her eyes were sharp and her face icy, completely different from the gentle woman she usually appeared to be.
"It’s not that we can’t, but if we remove the baby, the mother will suffer quite a bit."
The doctor explained with a strained smile. Judging from that belly, the baby was almost due; at this stage, terminating the pregnancy could only be done with induced labor drugs, painful like giving birth and extremely damaging to the body.
"So what if she suffers? As long as the baby is gone!"
"No, I won’t, please..." Sophia was already crying so hard she barely had any strength left. Violet shifted her gaze over, slicing her with a sharp look that matched her tone.
"Whether you do it or not is not up to you!" she finished, then turned back. "Start!"
The doctor glanced at Sophia and sighed inwardly. At a glance she knew what this was: must be a girl from an ordinary family, thinking she could marry up, and in the end...
Alas, kids these days really don’t know their place.
The doctor stood up from the office chair. "Wait a moment, I’ll go get the medication now."
Doctor Shao was a well-known gynecologist, very famous in T City. Violet had come to her for that reason. Although she didn’t want this grandchild Sophia was carrying, the pregnancy had already reached this stage, and a life was at stake, so she had sought out the best doctor.
Doctor Shao turned and walked to the glass cabinet in front, casually pulling up the mask hanging by her ear, then took a syringe and a vial of medication. Using a professional tool, she scored a circle along the small glass bottle, snapped off the cylindrical top, inserted the needle, and drew all the liquid into the syringe.
Her focused gaze stayed on the liquid being pulled into the syringe. "All right, help the patient take off her pants."
Even though she didn’t know exactly what drug was in that syringe, Sophia knew it definitely wasn’t good for her baby. Shaking her head nonstop, crying "No," she struggled with all her might. The two men were also watching the syringe in Doctor Shao’s hand, and in a moment of carelessness, Sophia broke free.
"Get her back here!" Seeing Sophia bolting for the door, Violet barked the order. The two men snapped back to themselves and strode after her.
Nathan Moore was holding a lab report and a registration slip, reading the scrawled handwriting as he walked. He was just about to step into the gynecology consultation room when he collided head-on with Sophia trying to escape from inside.
Acting on instinct, Nathan tipped his handsome face back. Because they were there to check whether she was pregnant, Titus Zane, who was walking behind him, had his nerves strung tight and was a bit distracted.
When Nathan suddenly stopped, Titus’s forehead slammed straight into his back. One hand clutching his nose where it hurt from the impact, the other thumped Nathan. "Why’d you just stop?"
With the door to survival blocked, Sophia instinctively lifted her head. Meeting Nathan’s handsome face in her panic, she couldn’t care about anything else. She clutched his lapels tightly with both hands and cried, "Please, save my baby..."
"Still not grabbing her back for me?" The two men froze for a second when they saw Nathan appear. In T City, everyone knew those four brothers were the tightest of friends.
To offend one of them was the same as offending all three of the others. And Nathan Moore was known as the "smiling tiger"—gentle and refined on the surface, but vicious in his methods. That’s what all of T City’s upper crust said: he could even send his own childhood sweetheart to her death without a hint of sentiment.
