Chapter 740: Chapter 739: Who Is the Target

Simon hasn’t arrived yet, so everyone is reluctant to start eating.

Mr. Sterling sees Wyatt making another call, but the line is still off. Angrily, he says, "Stop waiting, let’s eat."

This son of his doesn’t even consider what day it is today, and still manages to be late.

Just as he finishes speaking, the doorbell rings. Wyatt immediately puts down his phone and goes to the door.

"Is it Dad back?"

He opens the doors of Deepwood, and sure enough, it’s Simon carrying gifts, arriving.

"Dad, why are you just arriving now!"

Simon changes his shoes and doesn’t respond.

As he is about to hand the gifts to Serena, Wyatt leans towards Simon, quietly reminding, "Aunt Su is here too."

Saying this, Wyatt raises his eyebrows and smiles at Simon.

Simon’s body trembles, he turns his head and sees Serena by the dining table, no, his gaze lands on Claire.

After so many years, Simon never imagined one day he would be dining with his daughter and son, and never thought it would be a scene of a family of four reuniting.

He lifts his foot, slowly walking over, momentarily forgetting the gifts left in the hallway.

It seems no different from usual, only he knows that his footsteps are becoming heavier and slightly faster.

"Dad, sit over here."

Wyatt directs Simon to sit beside Claire.

Wyatt isn’t too aware of what his biological father did twenty years ago, so he ardently hopes to match his biological father with Claire, thinking they could end up together.

That way, he and Serena would be real siblings.

Simon takes a seat beside Claire, and it feels different with her there, his feelings within also different.

Claire glances at him and moves her chair closer to Serena.

Serena observes Claire’s movements and curls her lips into a soft smile.

With the whole family reunited, they officially begin the meal and start eating.

After the meal, the Eldest Master Sterling takes Mr. and Mrs. Sterling away.

Before leaving, Mr. Sterling clasps Serena’s hand, advising, "Take care."

These three words hold dual meanings, and Mr. Sterling’s heavy tone makes Serena’s eyes slightly red.

She also wants to take care and be well, having finally come together with Ethan Grant, finally having the happiness of now, how could she bear to part?

Life is unpredictable; she doesn’t know if she’ll wake up after tomorrow’s surgery.

After Mr. Sterling leaves, Simon can’t bring himself to leave either, staying in the living room chatting with the Eldest Master, his gaze occasionally drifting elsewhere.

Yet Claire can’t sit still and suggests leaving, Wyatt immediately stands up and says to Simon, "Dad, you see Aunt Su off."

"I’ve been drinking."

Simon replies honestly.

Despite what he says, he still stands up, the family driver could be asked to drive them.

Wyatt is speechless; he is trying to create an opportunity for his dad and Aunt Su, why is his dad so quick to sweep it away?

"Wyatt, you send me off."

Claire glances at Simon, completely uninterested in having this man send her off.

Looking at him, her mood becomes irritated.

Simon stays silent, watching Claire leave Deepwood.

After Claire leaves, Simon retrieves the gifts he bought for Serena from the hallway and brings them over to give her.

"What happened just now?"

Serena asks.

With Mr. Sterling around, Simon was cautious not to mention it, fearing they would worry.

He looks up at Serena, feeling uneasy knowing June Kane escaped from the hospital.

All these years, June Kane had portrayed herself as so dignified and composed in public, but once she unraveled, all her inner darkness was exposed.

Now, she has an added crime, a fugitive.

Such people often become more extreme, willing to take down others with them at all costs.

"June Kane escaped." Simon says simply, omitting the encounter with Felicity outside Deepwood.

"Escaped?"

As Ethan Grant, cutting fruit, hears this, he immediately turns to look at Serena.

"I will tighten security around the operating room and surrounding the ward tomorrow."

Simon says.

Serena remains silent, not responding.

June Kane escaped? Was she coming for her?
