Miles Sterling returned to the hotel, thoughtfully considering what Quentin Sterling had said.

In other words, if Vanessa wishes for freedom, he should let go rather than entangle her.

Otherwise, to Vanessa, he’d be like Gwen Grant was to him.

All they would bring to each other is endless hurt and suffering.

Choosing to completely let go might be a regret he could not come to terms with for a long time, but at least for Vanessa, it would be a relief and emancipation.

After squinting and sleeping for three or four hours, Miles Sterling immediately went to the hospital.

Once the medical staff started their shifts, Miles finally saw Vanessa Sterling in the intensive care unit.

Aside from looking a bit pale, her demeanor was serene as if she were simply asleep.

The doctor said she woke once last night, but her mental state was average and she quickly lapsed back into unconsciousness.

Her condition was better than expected, and barring any surprises, she’d be moved to a regular room in about three days.

Visiting hours were only a brief half-hour, and Miles Sterling was not fortunate enough to see Vanessa wake.

Wendy Jennings, having heard about the situation from Gwen Grant’s parents, couldn’t reach Miles by phone and anxiously hurried over.

Aware of this from Quentin, Miles was somewhat reluctant to deal with it but feared that Wendy might cause a scene at the hospital if she didn’t see him.

After weighing his options, Miles proactively met Wendy outside the hospital.

"Son, what exactly happened? Is Gwen dead? What went wrong?"

Miles Sterling replied coldly, "If you hadn’t indulged her in doing all those unreasonable things, she might not have ended up like this."

"What kind of talk is that? She accidentally miscarried, how can you blame that on me?"

Miles took a deep breath, not wanting to argue further with Wendy.

Wendy assertively said, "If you’re going to blame anyone, you should blame that jinx!"

Upon saying this, Wendy seemed to suddenly realize something, her expression changed as she interrogated Miles, "Is she here? Otherwise, why are you staying and not going back?"

Miles impatiently said, "Just go back, don’t interfere with my affairs."

Wendy discontentedly said, "Where is she?! She’s the reason you’re not at peace. Take me to her, I have words for her!" 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

Unable to bear it anymore, Miles said, "The one causing me unrest is you!"

Wendy was momentarily taken aback, and Miles continued, "Did you ever consider my feelings before doing anything? Do you know how much I dislike you?"

Wendy showed no remorse, insisted on arguing, "I think you’ve been brainwashed by that jinx! I raised you arduously, and look at what you’re saying!"

Seeing Wendy’s attitude, Miles felt there was no need to continue talking, he merely told the driver who brought Wendy, "Take her back."

The driver hesitated for a moment, and Wendy raised her voice, "If I go back, you have to come with me! I won’t allow you to be with that jinx anymore!"

Miles coldly responded, "How long do you plan to meddle in my life? Go back and find another woman for me? Secretly arrange for IVF again?"

"I see you’re set on annoying me to death! You’re my only son, if I don’t care, should I just watch as you’re ruined by that woman?!"

"If your purpose for having a child was just to continue the family line, then I suggest you hurry up and have another one, don’t pin your hopes on me." After saying that, Miles turned and walked back into the hospital.

Wendy wanted to chase after him, but was so upset that she nearly fainted.

The accompanying driver and housekeeper quickly moved to support her, while Miles walked away without looking back.

Although he hadn’t recovered much of his past memories, observing Wendy’s current personality, he could roughly infer the kind of environment he grew up in.
