Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 1001: Afraid You Don’t Want to See Him
Vanessa Sterling stayed in the intensive care unit until the second day when her head began to clear a little.
In the quiet and spacious hospital room, only the sound of the medical instruments beeped.
Her eyes were hollow as she stared at the snow-white ceiling, slowly recalling the events as they happened.
Thinking back on it, she still felt a lingering fear.
There was a sound at the door of the hospital room, and Vanessa immediately gathered her thoughts, looking cautiously towards the door.
Medical staff came in and stood by the bed to ask, "Awake? Feeling better?"
Vanessa nodded. Seeing it was the doctor, her tense nerves finally relaxed.
After the doctor performed a series of checks, he smiled with satisfaction and said, "Tomorrow you should be able to move to a standard room. Get some good rest; there’s no longer any big problem." 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Miles Sterling only felt relieved when he got this news.
But upon hearing Vanessa had woken up and being asked if he wanted to visit, Miles hesitated and instead let Quentin Sterling have the opportunity to visit.
He thought Vanessa probably wouldn’t want to see him.
Quentin knew Miles actually wanted to see Vanessa, so before entering the room, he took a video from outside the glass of Vanessa lying in the hospital bed to send to Miles.
Miles watched that video over and over again several times.
Although the doctors said there was no longer any danger to life and that she would gradually recover with care.
But looking at Vanessa weakly lying on the hospital bed, Miles still felt some guilt inside.
With such severe injuries, even if treatable, the treatment process would still be quite grueling.
After Vanessa regained consciousness, she lay motionless on the hospital bed, only feeling that time dragged on.
She couldn’t count how many times she had drifted in and out of sleep, until finally making it to the second day.
After the attending doctor completed the checks, Vanessa was finally moved to a standard room.
Though she was alone in the room as well, at least there were no longer those cumbersome machines attached to her.
Quentin pushed the door open and walked into the room, placing the fruit basket he carried on the bedside table, asking softly, "The doctor said you can eat now. What would you like, I’ll buy it for you."
Vanessa shook her head, her voice hoarse as she said, "Thank you, uncle, I’m not hungry right now."
Quentin sat beside the hospital bed, "I’ll peel an apple for you."
"Thank you, uncle, sorry for troubling you these few days."
Quentin glanced towards the door of the room and smiled lightly, "It’s not me you should thank, it’s Miles who’s been running back and forth to the hospital these days."
At the mention of Miles Sterling, Vanessa paused, asking, "...Is he at the hospital?"
"He’s just outside the room, saying he’s afraid you don’t want to see him."
Upon hearing this, Vanessa could hardly believe it was something Miles would say.
After all, he used to do whatever he wanted without considering others at all.
"Vanessa, actually you don’t need to resist him so much anymore. He’s really changed a lot now."
Vanessa lowered her eyes and remained silent.
Quentin said in a consultative tone, "Shall I have him come in so you two can talk?"
After a moment of silence, Vanessa shook her head in refusal, slightly turning to one side.
Quentin sighed gently, saying warmly, "Alright, if you don’t want to see him, you won’t. Don’t worry too much, just rest well."
After a pause, Vanessa said, "Uncle, please tell him to leave. You should go about your business as well, just find me a nurse, no need to stay at the hospital; it’s too much trouble for you."
Quentin merely responded with an "okay," but he knew that until Vanessa was discharged, it was impossible for Miles to leave.
