Even though Miles Sterling clearly felt that Vanessa Sterling wasn’t as resistant to him as before, he still didn’t dare to overstep his bounds.

He noticed that Vanessa was struggling with everyone’s teasing, so he took the initiative to steer the conversation pressure away from her: "After dinner, if you all have time, let me treat you to a KTV nearby. We’ve all had a long day, let’s relax."

Yvonne immediately said happily, "Boss Sterling is generous! Teacher Sterling, you never went when we used to invite you. This time, you have to save face for your lifesaver, right?"

Vanessa wished she could disappear on the spot; of course, she didn’t want to go to KTV, so she politely declined: "I have to pack and I’m a bit tired today. You all go ahead if you want to."

"Teacher Sterling, you’re such a buzzkill!"

Miles then said to Yvonne, "If she’s tired, let her go back to rest. Please help organize the outing later."

Yvonne started going from table to table announcing and organizing, busy with booking a KTV room, so she naturally stopped teasing Vanessa.

Miles got up and took a ten-minute phone call outside the restaurant.

After Vanessa paid the bill at the cashier, she told everyone she planned to head back to the hotel.

Yvonne, uncharacteristically, clung tightly to Vanessa’s arm, saying, "I’ll accompany you back, Teacher Sterling."

Vanessa laughed, "It’s just a few steps, why don’t you go and enjoy yourself with them? It’s been hard on you these last days, have fun tonight."

When Miles finished his call and walked back into the restaurant, he saw Vanessa getting ready to leave, so he said to Yvonne, "I’ll walk her back. You take everyone to the KTV."

Yvonne, who had been trying to matchmake them, now refused to let go of Vanessa and rejected Miles’ suggestion, quickly saying, "No, no, the hotel is just next door, we can walk there. I can see Teacher Sterling to the hotel and still make it back in time." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

Having said that, Yvonne quickly pulled Vanessa out of the restaurant.

Miles was slightly puzzled, not understanding what had happened while he was on the phone.

Vanessa also found Yvonne’s unusual attitude strange and asked once they exited the restaurant, "What’s up with you?"

Yvonne glanced back to make sure Miles hadn’t followed, and then said, "Teacher Sterling, you really have a discerning eye! I finally understand why you don’t want to be with that man."

Vanessa hesitated, and Yvonne, holding her arm, continued as they walked towards the hotel, "I just went to Yiyi’s table, and heard them saying that Miles Sterling is just a jerk!"

"At first, I didn’t believe it, but then Yiyi pulled up some old news, and all of it was true! It’s still searchable online! He’s been linked with multiple women and he was even married once! I heard his ex-wife even died! He must be cursed or something!"

Vanessa: "..."

"I was so foolish, always trying to set you up, but thankfully you have a strong will and weren’t tempted! We must stay far away from men like that!"

Vanessa opened her mouth, hesitating to argue, considering Yvonne’s claims exaggerated. But upon reflection, aside from the "cursed" part, it seemed everything else was indeed true.

And she was a witness to all these "jerk" affairs.

But it didn’t matter; there was never a real possibility between her and Miles anyway.

As long as Yvonne didn’t interfere anymore, it would be a good thing for her too.
