Chapter 1028: Chapter 1028: The Argument Outside the Door

Vanessa Sterling returned to the hotel but did not rest. She unhurriedly organized her luggage, afraid that in the rush of leaving tomorrow, something might be forgotten.

She had stayed for a long time this time, and she brought quite a lot with her. The stuff filled up six suitcases, and by the time she finished tidying up, it was already eleven o’clock.

Vanessa noticed that Yvonne hadn’t returned yet, so she called to inquire about Yvonne’s situation.

However, it was Yvonne’s husband who answered the phone: "Teacher Sterling, is there anything you need? Yvonne has had too much to drink, and I’m bringing her back to the hotel."

Vanessa curiously asked, "Why are you here as well?"

"I happened to be on a business trip here and planned to return with Yvonne tomorrow, so I came to find her. Teacher Sterling, don’t worry. We’ll meet up with you in the morning when she sobers up." 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

"Okay, be safe."

After hanging up the phone, Vanessa grabbed her pajamas and went to the bathroom. Coming out after a shower, she heard a commotion outside.

Vanessa stood at the door, her head tilted against it, and faintly made out the argument outside.

It sounded like two hotel guests were having a dispute over a pet issue. The hotel staff were trying to mediate, but the involved parties were getting louder and more heated.

One of the women had a notably loud voice, and her shouting could be heard throughout the corridor.

Vanessa didn’t want to involve herself in these disputes, so she didn’t open the door to join the crowd.

But the racket from the arguing people was indeed annoying.

Vanessa, who usually valued harmony and wasn’t good at speaking with strangers, didn’t have the courage to open the door and express her dissatisfaction.

In her mind, she imagined opening the door and shouting to those arguing, "Stop it! You’re driving me crazy!"

And then slamming the door shut with a bang, projecting an "I’m not to be messed with" aura.

But the imagination was far from reality.

Vanessa placed her hand on the door handle and, mustering her courage, only managed to crack the door open slightly.

Then, sneakily, she peeked through the gap to observe the situation outside. Forget about shouting out, she was too timid to say a word, only daring to watch the drama unfold quietly from behind the door.

The argument involved two couples, one middle-aged man and woman, and a married couple with a significant age difference.

The loud-voiced woman shouted at a young woman holding a small teddy dog in her arms, gesturing vehemently, "If you don’t compensate and apologize today, I won’t let you leave this hotel!"

The young woman, cuddling the teddy, leaned against the paunchy middle-aged man, "Honey, say something! She kicked our son, and she’s acting like she’s in the right!"

"You didn’t keep your dog-son in check, and it tripped my husband, giving him a big bump on his head! And you have the nerve to yell at me here? Do you even know who I am?"

The young woman, not willing to show weakness, pushed the beer-bellied man forward, "Do you know who my husband is? We don’t lack money! But it’s you, you fatty, who should apologize and compensate!"

"Fatty?! How dare you insult me?! I’ll tear that vile mouth of yours apart!"

The two haughty individuals were by no means easy to deal with, and just like Vanessa, many others watched the drama but dared not intervene, fearing trouble.

The hotel manager rushed in to mediate, "Please calm down, both of you. Let’s discuss this downstairs. It’s late already, and we shouldn’t disturb other guests’ rest, okay?"

Clearly, the middle-aged woman had lost all sense of calm and didn’t care if she was disturbing others, continuing to shout, "Move aside! Today I’m going to deal with this shameless woman! How dare she insult me?!"

Vanessa saw the woman lunging forward and quickly ducked behind the door.

Even though she wasn’t involved, listening to this argument made her head buzz.

Just as things were escalating, the elevator doors not far away opened, and Miles Sterling, along with his assistant, stepped out of the elevator...
