My Atypical Wolf (BL) - Chapter 155
Chapter 155: Looking for him
âLike whatâ? Asked Caleb in a confused manner. đrđâŻđđđđđđeđč.cđ°đŠ
âI dunno...â Karlyn breathed, âsomething doesnât just... feel rightâ.
â....â Caleb remained quiet as he looked back at Ashton looking for some answers. Alas, even Ashton himself was clueless about whatever was happening.
âI donât like this ominous feelingâ After a moment Karolyn replied.
âYou should go back, take some restâ, Caleb suggested. He wasnât sure what was happening, but thatâs the best advice that he could think of at this moment.
âNo, itâs not something from the inside. I...â She struggled with her words. âI am.... well... itâs like a premonition that something bad is going to happen. Like I am catching some sort of vibe or somethingâ.
âWhy donât you go back. We will look around to see if we can find something.â Caleb suggested.
.....
âYou donât get it!â Her voice raised by several decibels. Both Caleb and Ashton were taken aback by her sudden change in attitude and backed off. Ashton instinctively covered Caleb a little bit from the side in such a way that if she goes rampage he will cover Caleb entirely in a second.
âWhat do you need us to doâ? Caleb asked. He knew his friend was not someone who easily loses control over her emotions. At this moment that was all he could think of asking.
âI...â Karolyn struggled to answer that once more âI need to figure it out. What is this, what should I do. I am... confusedâ She mumbled.
All of them remained silent for a long time, Karolyn clutched her vest trying to figure out her own surge of emotions while Caleb simply gazed at her attentively. Despite grilling his head for any possible illness he failed to come up with a valid reason for her behavior.
âWarrenâ. Ashon mumbled in his own daze. Both Karolyn and Caleb looked at him in confusion, until they realised what he was hinting at.
âNooo! It canât be him rightâ? Karolyn deadpanned. âThis isnât about him. This shouldnât be about himâ! She insisted harder.
âHe is your mate...so...â Ashton tried to explain why he came up with that logic. Something about Karolynâs behaviour reminded him of himself back when Caleb was almost attacked by that rogue Alpha. The intense feeling associated with your mate, especially if you are an Alpha, is something Ashton was weirdly familiar to.
âI will go back to my room right nowâ Caleb suggested.
âFirst call himâ! Karolyn screamed
âRightâ! Caleb mumbled as he dialed his roommate. From the very first ring he hoped his call would be answered and with each passing ring his hope faded away further. When the call was finally directed to voicecall, he mumbled. âCall me ASAPâ! He tried once more but when the rings stopped Caleb turned to Karolyn and mumbled. âNo response.â
âI will keep trying, you go Backâ Ashton instructed. As Calebâs mate he ensured he had Warrenâs contact info way before he was enrolled in here. Whenever he needed something and somehow Caleb wasnât available despite their ever strong link, he called Warren, who was more than happy to help. More often than not such situations arose when Caleb was in heat.
âOkayâ. Caleb nodded at him and disappeared. Ashton kept dialing Warren while Karolynâs entire gaze focused on the phone in Ashtonâs hand.
âThis is uselessâ Karolyn mumbled as soon as his call was rejected once more. âI gotta goâ She declared and was about to leave when Ashton stopped her by getting in her way. âLook, I donât care if you are the mate of one of my closest friends. Step asideâ!
âI will, but you need to calm down. You are not gonna find him just like thatâ Ashton tried to get through her. Unlike with him and Caleb, she never marked or got through the entire mating process, which means she had no connections to him apart from being his fated mate.
Karolynâs gaze intensified, âWatch me tryâ She spat and tried to use her Alpha strength into moving Ashton. As a pureblood, it was no surprise that he could easily resist her. Even if he was skeptical about this woman, deep down he could relate to her, and somehow it made him feel bad for her.
âHow about thisâ? Ashton spoke, gaining her momentarily attention. âI go with you. I will look along with you. We can cover a wider range. I know him... somewhat. I may have some ideas on where he could be.â He suggested.
âFine, letâs go. I do not want something to happen to him.â She growled. She was grateful, for sure, but it was just too hard to express her gratitude right now when everything in her just drove her over the edge. Ashton nodded as they both exited the room.
He headed off to the department of science, a place he had seldom been to. Nevertheless the symmetry of the building made it easier for it to navigate. On his way to the library, as Warren was known for being the studious guy, he knocked into someone.
While the girl who was hit by him seemed bothered and murmured a quick apology, the scent coming off of her triggered Ashton. âWas she the one who attacked Karolynâ he wondered. Turns out, his lack of scent was definitely helpful, even after a skin to skin contact.
His search on the library was a failure, so he searched the entire building looking for Warren and even paid special attention to the places designated for stud groups or self study. When everything failed, after almost an hour he arrived at the main door where he found Karolyn waiting with tears in her eyes. âI am sorryâ Ashton mumbled. He was sorry that he failed to find her mate, and sorry that she had to feel all this.
Karolyn shook his head, âItâs not your fault. I just...â She fumbled. âI canât feel... anything anymoreâ.
âIsnât that great news? Maybe that simply means he is out of dangerâ! Ashton suggested.
âOr deadâ. Karolyn mumbled. Ashton wished he could say she was wrong. But he actually had no idea how it felt. He knew it was supposed to be devastating, but in what way.
Before he could think of anything to say to her that would be comforting he heard his mateâs voice in his head. [Come to my room. You gotta see this]
