Chapter 220: Making Progress On All Fronts

The rest of Damian’s stay descended into complete chaos.

While Rin and his wives barked at one another without restraint, Damian simply rested quietly and allowed them continue their endless quarrel.

At some point, he completely tuned them out.

Their voices became nothing more than background noise drifting through the room while he laid there calmly, staring at the ceiling with a dull expression.

By evening, Damian finally returned to Chicago.

The moment he arrived, he barely spent any time at home before heading out again almost immediately.

Driving through the city in his supercar, he first stopped to get himself a new phone before making his way toward Twenty’s place.

By the time he arrived, it was already six in the evening.

Together, the two of them headed out to inspect the church renovations.

Several minutes later, the black supercar rolled to a stop across the street from the abandoned church.

Damian stepped out slowly, his gaze rising toward the massive structure towering ahead of him.

The old church he had seen in the pictures no longer looked dead.

Bright construction lights illuminated the entire compound while workers moved in and out carrying supplies. Trucks were parked around the property while the constant sounds of drilling, hammering, and machinery echoed through the evening air.

The damaged front gate had already been replaced with taller black steel bars tipped with golden spearheads. Fresh concrete paths stretched through the compound while workers installed decorative lanterns along the walkways.

Twenty stepped out of the passenger seat with both hands tucked into the pockets of his jacket. His eyes lingered briefly on Damian’s supercar.

He was honestly considering getting one for himself.

"Your people moved fast."

Twenty chuckled.

"When money flows properly, people suddenly discover they can work miracles."

Damian’s eyes swept across the property again and a faint smile tugged at the corner of his lips. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

The outer walls of the church had already been repainted black and white. Massive cracks that once ruined the building were completely gone. Even the old broken stained glass windows had been removed and replaced with darker, cleaner designs that reflected the construction lights beautifully.

Workers stopped briefly to glance at Damian and Twenty as they walked in.

Some lowered their heads respectfully while others simply stared curiously.

The aura around Damian was hard to ignore.

Twenty naturally took the lead.

"The exterior is almost done," he explained while walking beside Damian. "We reinforced the old structure first before touching aesthetics. The foundation was worse than expected."

They stepped into the main building.

The inside smelled strongly of fresh wood, paint, dust, and cement.

The difference was massive.

The rotten pews were gone entirely. In their place were long polished black benches arranged neatly in rows. The old damaged tiles had been replaced with smooth dark marble flooring that reflected the chandelier lights above.

Several workers stood on scaffolding near the ceiling installing massive hanging chandeliers shaped like inverted silver crosses.

Damian’s gaze narrowed slightly.

"Silver?"

Twenty nodded immediately.

"I know you have your preferences, but come on, this is a church. Black alone would make it feel too demonic, so I mixed both themes together."

Damian stared ahead silently before slowly nodding.

He agreed with that logic.

That was also why he bought the white robes and masks.

At the far front of the church, the old altar had been completely rebuilt into an elevated white platform surrounded by black pillars lined with golden markings.

Behind it stood a massive circular emblem of a fox. Nine tails spread outward behind it like flames.

Damian stopped walking, visibly stunned by the addition he never mentioned.

For several seconds, he simply stared at it.

"That..." his voice trailed slightly. "How did you know what to put here?"

"Your ring. I got inspiration from there." Twenty grinned proudly. "I realized you and your master wore it, so it should mean something."

However, his words inwardly startled Damian.

Even a normal person like Twenty paying enough attention could notice the matching rings.

If it were an enemy already suspicious of him, his cover could have been blown instantly.

’I need to be more careful.’

A slight frown crossed Damian’s face.

"I had five designers work on it. Took almost two days before we settled on that final design," Twenty continued proudly, completely unaware of Damian’s inner thoughts.

Damian slowly nodded and walked toward the altar.

The deeper he moved into the church, the quieter everything felt despite the surrounding construction noise.

He could already imagine it.

Crowds seated before him.

People praying.

People listening to his teachings.

People worshipping him in place of God.

A strange feeling crawled through his chest.

Excitement.

Anticipation.

Something deeper and darker.

"Not bad," Damian finally admitted.

Twenty nearly jumped in excitement hearing that.

Damian stepped onto the altar platform and turned around to face the empty church hall.

From this angle, the entire building looked massive.

The chandeliers above.

The black benches below.

The giant fox emblem behind him.

Everything about it looked like the foundation of something dangerous.

Twenty climbed the altar steps and lowered his voice slightly.

"There’s more."

Damian glanced sideways at him.

Twenty pointed toward a hidden side door near the altar.

"We plan on expanding underground for your private matters until the permanent Ministry headquarters is built."

That got Damian’s attention immediately.

The two descended through the hidden stairway.

The underground section was far larger than Damian expected.

The basement had already been reconstructed and was still expanding into something massive enough to hold multiple sections.

Damian could already see the plans clearly in his mind.

Meeting halls.

Private chambers.

Storage facilities.

Training rooms.

Hidden passageways.

"This wasn’t part of the original plan."

Twenty rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly.

However, Damian silenced him with a simple wave of his hand.

"How much more do we need to develop this section and build something proper?" he asked calmly.

Twenty smiled and waved him off.

"Don’t worry about that, man. You already threw in a few million dollars. Let me handle this one."

Damian did not argue.

He simply nodded silently while continuing to observe the surroundings carefully.

The work had only started recently, yet they had already come this far.

For the first time in a while, Damian genuinely felt positive about this entire plan.

This new religion he intended to establish on this planet was going to shake the entire world to its core.
