My Supernatural Girlfriends Spoils Me Rotten - Chapter 390: Lies or Truth? 2

(You fool. You're wasting your life and potential. You could become a peak existence—rule over the universe—and you're throwing it away over emotion.)

"I don't care about that. I never wanted something empty. Protecting the people I love is enough."

R gave a slight nod.

"Good. I thought you were all talk. But at least you've got your own resolve—even if it's pointed in the wrong direction."

Asher's power kept rising until his body fully turned draconic. He hadn't reached SSS– yet, but he stood at the peak of SS+.

With Overload, he could even push past that—if only for a short time.

(Senior, forgive my friend. He's not thinking clearly. If we talk, we can find another way.)

R shook his head.

"No, Pantheon. That won't work. I have to kill him—now."

"You think I'll just let you kill me?" Asher raised his hand, and without warning, a beam of light rained down from the sky. He had cast the spell in secret.

The beam struck R directly, and the illusion shattered, revealing the sea of bones once again.

Asher didn't flinch. He kept watching as the light continued to pour down—more focused and powerful than the one he used against the Titan.

CRACK!

Like breaking glass, the space around the beam fractured—then shattered completely.

R stood unharmed, not even a scratch on him.

"You'll have to do better than that if you hope to defeat me," he said calmly. "Come on—attack me with everything you've got. Show me how badly you want to save Index... through action, not words."

"Don't underestimate me!"

Asher clasped his hands. Thousands of small magic circles appeared around him.

ZZZZZZ!

A single white beam shot out, passing through each one—gaining speed and power with every layer.

R watched with interest.

"Impressive. Your magic's high-level, and your control is commendable. Let's see if it's enough. If you can make me bleed, even once—I'll let you go"

Asher sneered "Forget about making you bleed, I'll beat you here and now"

The magic circles moved, forming a tight perimeter around R. The light beam moved too fast to track, bouncing between the circles with increasing speed.

This spell combined multiple elements—momentum, light, reflection, and more.

It wouldn't have worked well against a moving target. But R was just standing, giving Asher the setup he needed.

He would make his opponent regret underestimating him. With enough prep, he was confident he could hurt even the strongest SSS+ Rank.

SWOOOSH!

Finally, the light reached its peak speed and appeared right in front of R's face.

But just before it could land, it froze mid-air. That's right—an attack moving nearly at the speed of light came to a sudden stop.

"How?" Asher was speechless.

"Don't get confused. Your attack was powerful, but the quality of my power is on another level. If you want to hit me, you'll have to use a Transcendental level of power."

"Transcendental level?" Asher repeated, unfamiliar with the term. He glanced at Pantheon, who also look confused.

Noticing their confusion, R tapped the frozen attack and shattered it again.

Asher understood from this show of dominance that he was dealing with someone far beyond his own level.

"Do you know what separates the three of us?" R asked.

Neither of them knew how to answer, but both were curious.

"It's the ability to create your own law. When you reach a certain level, you gain a law that defies the logic of the universe. For example, my absolute law is destruction. That means I can destroy anything. No matter how much you prepare, you won't beat it—because a law can only be defeated by another law."

Pantheon was the first to speak. (Senior, this is the first time I've heard about this.)

"Figures. I was wondering why, despite your strength, you didn't have any law yet. Now my suspicion is confirmed."

(Can you explain more, Senior?)

"If my guess is right, the universe went through a great reset. That's why your power system feels different from what I remember. You don't seem to recognize me either which is weird. I might not remember everything, but I'm sure I was feared by all in my era."

(Great Reset... Are you saying that theory is real?)

Asher frowned. "Pantheon, what exactly is this Great Reset theory?"

The Ancient dragon paused, then spoke slowly. (The theory says the universe has collapsed and rebuilt itself more than once. Each time, the rules of power and reality change—sometimes just a little, sometimes completely. )

R nodded. "You've got the gist of it. Now, what do you think happens to the people the universe can't reset?"

Pantheon's eyes widened as the pieces fell into place.

(So, are you saying Senior is from a universe before the reset?)

"Not just me, but also that Index girl. Along with others trapped in places like this, I'm sure there are more of us," R explained before turning to Asher.

"Now you understand why I'm stopping you from freeing her. If she escapes, the universe could reset again—wiping out all life and forcing everything to begin from scratch. Is your love for her truly worth risking everyone's future?"

Asher gritted his teeth. "How am I supposed to know you're telling the truth?"

R let out a slow sigh, head tilting in disappointment.

"I wasn't the one who caused the Reset, as far as I know. In my time, only that woman was said to be stronger than me..."

"You're lying!" Asher spat out.

R sighed. "No use arguing. You won't change your mind. I'll leave you to it. If the universe purged everything again, the responsibility's on you."

He stepped back, the will to fight fading from his eyes.

"How can we leave this godforsaken place?" Asher demanded.

"If you want to leave, train harder with your dragon friend. Reach a high enough level, and I might teach you both the power of laws." He added before flying away.

His words struck deeper with Pantheon than with Asher.

The idea of mastering the power of law lingered in his mind—if they could reach that stage, the two of them would become unstoppable.

And the ancient dragon could finally confront the past—and settle old scores.

(Brat, you heard him. We both need to reach SSS+ Rank and combine our strength to escape this place. Do you still have the remaining Genesis Crystals?)

Asher nodded and pulled the crystals from his storage bag. The moment they touched the air, they began absorbing the lingering bloodlust around them.

(Put it back—now!) Pantheon snapped.

But it was too late. The storage bag refused to absorb them again. The black marble glowed faintly, then slowly turned dark red.

Desperate, Pantheon quickly cast a spell, forming a protective dome around them.

The barrier shimmered faintly, holding back the spreading energy .

When things calm down, the crystals were slowly retaining it's color.

"Look, I think these crystals can filter energy and convert it to its most basic form," Asher pointed out.

To test his theory, he grabbed a half empty and tossed it outside the barrier.

The crystal turned from dark red to a deep blood red after a few minutes. When he pulled it back in, the color slowly faded, returning to its neutral state.

Both of their eyes widened. This was more than just a useful trait—it was a game-changing discovery.

(Brat, hurry up and absorb it—break through already. I want to see if a lightning strike can reach this place or not,)

Pantheon urged. He also wanted to see if the lightning would cause any space distortion—anything that might give him a clue on how to safely escape this locked space.

Until now, no one had been able to explain where the lightning actually came from.

It simply appeared as a natural phenomenon, earning names like heavenly retribution and other dramatic titles.

Without wasting a moment, Asher grabbed ten crystals and began absorbing their energy.

His body reacted instantly—bones creaked and veins bulged as they struggled to contain the surge.

Pain spread fast, but he clenched his jaw and held on.

If he wanted to break through, there was no other way. His current form had to be pushed past its limits, shattered, and rebuilt from the ground up.

It felt similar to when he built his magic body, but this time he wasn't releasing energy from inside. Instead, he was pulling energy in, forcing it to flow inward.

His skin stretched tight, almost translucent, veins bulging and twisting like dark rivers beneath the surface.

They pulsed violently, throbbing with the overwhelming energy coursing through him.

Soon, Blood seeped from his eyes, streaming down his cheeks in thin, crimson trails.

His gaze burned with determination, even as the pressure threatened to shatter his mind and body.

Pantheon watched him closely.

Suddenly, the dragon looked up at the sky.

A dark cloud was forming. The lightning strike was coming, just like he expected.

This was both good and bad news.

Good because it meant they were still connected to the rest of the universe. Bad because Asher had to survive this test.

Talent was clear, and his potential was almost unmatched, but the speed of his growth was too much.

Unlike others who built strength slowly at SS+ rank before advancing, his body was still fragile.

Pantheon could only hope that his dragon form and powerful bloodline would reduce the damage enough for him to survive.

As time passed, the cloud kept growing, spreading wider until it covered the entire sky

It adapted to the environment, turning a deep red—same as the sparks dancing across its surface.

Pantheon frowned. Something felt off.

This storm looked far more dangerous than the ones he faced in the past—stronger, more deadly.
