Ash blinked, disoriented.

'Where am I?' he muttered.

Towering trees surrounded him, their trunks stretching high into a dim canopy that blocked most of the light.

He took a step and staggered. The gravity pressed down on him—at least fifty times heavier than what he used to. Even drawing in air was hard.

Closing his eyes, he steadied his breathing and drew on his energy. It wrapped around him, pushing back against the crushing weight and boosting his strength.

After a few seconds, he found his balance and managed to move with some effort.

He remembered sitting in his library, reading quietly—then nothing. Darkness, and now this place.

'Is this part of Father's training? '

It was the only explanation that made sense. Only Asher had the power to throw him into a situation like this.

'I need to get a better view of this place first,'

He raised his hand, muttering a short chant. Wind gathered at his feet and pushed upward, lifting him from the ground.

His body rose slowly at first, then steadier as he forced more energy into the spell.

The branches broke away until he was above the canopy.

That's when it hit him.

A beam of burning light shot across the air.

'Shit!' He twisted, and the beam missed by inches, tearing through the sky.

Ash's eyes narrowed. 'So it's like that…'

Blue flames streaked down and struck the forest floor. The blast bloomed outward like a napalm bomb, spreading fire in all directions.

Trees broke and started burning. The fire stuck to the wood and climbed up the trunks.

Something moved inside the flames.

Thud!

A giant stepped out. It towered twenty feet high, its skin pale blue, its body built like stone.

Two heads sat on its shoulders, each with only one eye that glowed faintly. Both mouths curved into grins.

Ash's gut tightened. This was the first time he had seen a monster like this, and its aura was so heavy it felt as strong as a Demon King's. The only thing in his favor was that the creature couldn't fly.

With that in mind, he pushed more wind beneath him and rose higher into the sky. From above, he would have more time to react and could watch for the monster's next move.

The giant's eye lit, and another beam fired. He willed the wind beneath him to shove him sideways, just avoiding the strike. Another beam followed, then a third.

Ash sent a stream of energy back, but the blasts fizzled against its pale blue skin. The monster didn't even flinch.

'It's resistance to magic is too high.'

The giant roared. The sound rolled like thunder and rattled his bones. It swung an arm through the trees, and the shockwave alone extinguished the flames.

Ash had no time to trade attacks head-on. He whispered an incantation, and black fog burst from his fingertips, spreading fast.

The mist wrapped around him like a cloak, thick , cutting visibility.

From within the fog, he began weaving his next spell. A wide circle of purple light bloomed in the air above, runes spinning as sparks of electricity traced the formation. The circle grew until it swallowed the sky.

"Let's see you handle this," Ash growled.

A massive bolt of lightning ripped down from the sky. The forest lit up as if day had returned for an instant.

Trees burst apart. The ground cracked. The shockwave knocked birds from the air.

The giant staggered, howling in pain. Ash's chest lifted in relief.

'Got him—'

Then everything turned against him.

The lightning bent. It curved midair, as though the forest itself refused his attack. In a flash, the energy snapped back like a whip.

'What—no!'

The spell slammed into him before he could shield himself.

Pain exploded through every nerve in his body. His vision went white before he crashed through branches, smashing against trucks until he hit the ground.

If not for his dragon bloodline activating, he would have been roasted on the spot.

Slowly, he pushed himself up, his body now in his dragon form. Black and red scales spread across his skin, glowing faintly under the fire's light.

In this form, his resistance to energy skyrocketed. But he knew his limit—he was still young, and as a half-breed, he could only hold this form for a short time, unlike Ashley.

Still, it was enough to raise his strength to the level of a Demon King, even if only for a short time. It was proof of how powerful his bloodline was.

SWOOOOSH!

Ash shot into the air. Wind magic roared at his back, driving him forward like a storm.

His fists blazed as he stacked layer after layer of strengthening spells onto them, each one adding weight and force until his arm felt like a weapon of pure destruction.

At the same time, he casted another spell. The ground beneath the giant shimmered and turned slick, its footing breaking apart as if the earth itself betrayed it.

The monster staggered, both heads twisting in surprise as it struggled to keep balance.

Ash tightened his scaled fist. Every muscle in his body locked, every ounce of momentum focused into the strike.

"Take this!"

His punch connected with the giant's chest.

BOOOOOM!

The sound cracked like thunder, shaking the forest to its roots. The impact was so fierce that the monster's colossal body lifted off the ground, helpless against the blow.

It spun through the air, crashing through trees and boulders before slamming into the earth far away.

But even after sending the giant flying, Ash refused to grow careless.

He pressed his hand to the ground and cast another spell. The earth rumbled beneath them.

CRACK!

Jagged spikes of metal burst upward, shooting toward the monster's back. They scraped its blue skin and pierced shallow wounds, but the damage was minor. That didn't matter—this wasn't meant to finish the fight. It was a just preparation.

Ash launched himself high into the air.

"Now!"

He shot downward like a missile, his fist glowing with layered spells.
