Chapter 110- Invasion (Part 1)

*Meanwhile, in Fiona’s house*

After leaving school, Elio headed to the supermarket with Fiona to buy groceries. The two decided to take care of that matter rather than letting Alfred do everything. It was a nice way to spend time together and move around rather than get everything handed to them.

Fiona had learned to rely on herself in such things as cooking and cleaning rather than hiring maids to do it for her. She wanted to remain grounded in reality and not become a spoiled brat like most rich kids are. Her mother had taught her how to be humble while still honoring her position as a Vaylor and the heir to the strongest entity in the world.

That was a valuable lesson that she kept with her for the rest of her life, and she doesn’t intend to change that.

"What do you want for dinner tonight, Elio?"

As they walked into the grocery store, Fiona asked.

"Hmm, let me take care of dinner tonight. You’ve been the one cooking for days now. It’s not fair." He said.

"Eh, I don’t mind. It’s not that bad." She replied. "But, if you want to cook, I don’t mind. Your food is good."

"Hmmm, let’s see..."

Thinking for a moment, Elio approached one of the aisles and picked up cheese. "How about lasagna?" He asked with a smile.

"That sounds really good." Fiona smiled as she looked at him. "What kind of lasagna, though?"

"Hmm, yeah maybe sausage meat?" He asked. "That sounds really good and it’s one of my favorites."

"Fine by me. Lead the way." Fiona said.

The two continued walking through the aisles picking all the necessary items for their dinner. On the way, Fiona stopped and picked up one of the boxes of juice. It was tomato juice.

"Hmm? You like tomato juice, Fiona?" Elio asked.

"... A bit, yeah."

"..."

"What? You don’t like it?"

"Uh, no, I’m not a fan of uncooked tomatoes." He said.

"That’s surprising. These taste good."

"I beg to differ. But, I don’t judge you for liking them." Elio laughed. "I believe juices should only be sweet. Vegetables should never be drunk as a juice."

"Tomatoes are fruits, not juice," Fiona replied.

"’Technically’ they are. But, have you ever seen someone say, ’ah I really want a juicy tomato right now to eat’. You would hear that about apples and even oranges and bananas."

"Well, that is just preference, isn’t it? You could say the same for people who hate apples."

"That’s a fair point, but what I want to say is that tomatoes are usually linked with vegetables, so by default they’re viewed more as a vegetable than an actual fruit. You could say it’s a vegetable in spirit."

The two argued back and forth as they walked through the supermarket. This was something common between them, where they would argue about the simplest things. There was no anger or negative feelings, just fun conversations they like to have for no reason other than to talk to each other.

As they were walking and picking things up, Fiona suddenly noticed something odd as her senses went off, alerting her to something.

Immediately, she looked up as she signaled for Elio to stop.

"Hm? What’s up, Fiona?"

"..." The girl didn’t reply as her eyes turned very sharp for a second. "... A vampire is within the supermarket."

"Huh?"

"A vampire has unleashed its energy within the supermarket. Let’s go." She said coldly as she put the bag down and dashed forward.

"Fiona!" Elio yelled for her before he looked over his shoulder. "What’s even going on?" He grumbled before he put everything down and rushed after her. The supermarket seemed quiet with no real problems.

’It’s somewhere around here. That thing is recklessly unleashing its energy when it’s surrounded by humans?! What the hell is going on?’ Fiona clenched her teeth in frustration. This was a first for her.

It was extremely rare for vampires to be reckless and expose themselves when they aren’t secluded. They knew that it was basically a death sentence to do that.

Yet, that was what she felt. Eventually, she reached the aisle where she located the vampire. There, she saw a crowd had formed.

"Out of the way, now." She said as she cut her way through the confused crowd until she finally saw it. bent down on its knees, the creature was fidgeting and shaking violently as it screeched and cried.

His aura had been fully unleashed in a violent, perturbed state. He was dripping with saliva as he winced in clear pain. Fiona didn’t know why, but it looked like it was suffering from something that was assaulting its body.

She then looked around her. ’Too many people. Too many damn people.’

This was far from ideal. She needed to get everyone away from there. So, she had to resort to extreme and quick measures.

"Everyone. Leave the vicinity, now!" She turned around and said as she spread her senses, activating one of her runes.

The moment she did, all the people froze around her as if they were put under some sort of magical spell. Then, with blank faces, they turned around and started walking away. Meanwhile, the monster’s cries loudened as it looked up, its eyes bloodshot red and its mouth dripping with saliva.

’A rabid state? What even triggered that?’ Fiona frowned.

A rabid vampire is usually a vampire that is in a very stimulated state, usually after drinking blood. But that made no sense; there was no victim around it.

"..."

Before she could inspect her surroundings more, the monster stood up and rushed toward her. Fiona immediately took a stance, ready to stop it. Lunging forward, it extended its arms, ready to attack Fiona.

However, the girl was able to dodge it with a skillful move before she slammed it down. Then, she quickly grabbed its neck and twisted it quickly and cleanly, killing the monster on the spot.

There was no mess, no struggle, everything started and ended in a second. Fiona looked down, her face not pleased whatsoever.

’In the middle of a supermarket... Dammit, so many people saw it.’ She cursed as she looked around her. There were far too many people, a situation that was very rare and almost unheard of.

Vampires weren’t social creatures, they would never hunt in broad daylight and in a crowded place like a supermarket for that. It just not only made the situation worse for them, but it also made the situation worse for Vampire Hunters as that threatens exposing the existence of vampires to the world.

So far, they were able to hide that secret for so long because most cases happen in secret so they can contain it easily without any ruckus.

However, before she could even calm down and start thinking rationally, something shocking happened.

Out of nowhere, her senses picked up another Vampire within the vicinity. Then, before she could even react, another one popped up, then another, then another.

In less than a second, several Vampires appeared out of nowhere. Fiona’s eyes widened as she kept looking left and right. More and more kept showing up, some were inside the supermarket, while others were outside.

"..." Her face paled visibly as the reality dawned on her.

Then, cries started echoing around her, ones that belonged to humans. Chaos erupted everywhere as she saw people running left and right.

"WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING?!!"

"GET OFF ME!!! AAAAAGH!!!"

Vampires started attacking people left and right as they ran away for dear life. Everything happened within a few seconds.

"Fiona!"

Then, Elio finally reached her. "What the fuck is going on?!"

"I..." She took a second to gather her thoughts. "I don’t know. There are many Vampires showing up everywhere. This has never happened befo-"

"What should we do?" Elio asked.

"We need... We need to stop them. This is going completely out of control. Elio, can you fight?" She asked. "Are you ready?"

"Yeah, I think I can."

"We will separate. I want you to kill every vampire you come across. If they’re too strong for you, just run. Here, take this."

Putting her hand forward, a sword formed in Fiona’s hand out of nowhere. It was a Jian sword, one that Elio had been training with for a while now.

"Use this to fight just like how I taught you."

Elio grabbed it and nodded, feeling its familiar sense. Gulping, he looked at her. "Please be careful."

"I will be, and so you too."

The two shared a moment of eye contact, conveying their thoughts through that before they turned around and dashed away. There was no time to think, no time to rationalize or even comprehend the kind of catastrophe that just happened.

What was certain for them was one thing and one thing only... They must eliminate these vampires at all costs... Before many innocent lives are taken.

Unbeknownst to them, that day was a day that would be remembered in the history of the world.

Thousands of years ago, the first invasion happened, and the world changed forever. This day was the second invasion... And so with it, the world will change again.
