Chapter 114- Invasion (Part 5)

Immediately, all the blood splashed around him started crawling toward him from every direction rapidly, as it started building up on the palm of his hand. This was not the first time Elio saw his ability in action, but it was still as fascinating as ever. Just watching how an inanimate object move as if it was alive because he was controlling it felt so magical.

However, as the blood was building up, the monster attacked Elio. The boy quickly sliced with his sword, pushing it back as he stood up. The blood built up on his hand as he glared at the monster.

"Die." He muttered as he aimed his hand at it and blasted the blood at it. The blood bullet flew extremely fasting reaching the monster in a split second.

*BOOOOOOM*

The condensed blood exploded everywhere in a violent explosion that blasted the windows and doors open. The shockwave pushed Elio back several steps. He covered his face from the blood droplets flying toward him. Eventually, the blood finally fell to the ground in a small rain, covering the entire floor.

Looking up, all Elio saw were body parts that remained intact from the dead vampire. He exhaled a long, relieved breath as he put his hand down.

"That was close," Elio muttered as he looked down. ’Where did that thing even come from. I only noticed its presence when it attacked.’ He cursed. That was just not ideal whatsoever. Fiona had stressed so many times that his senses were his strongest weapon.

Without them, he was completely vulnerable and weak. So, he had to always stay alert and sharp, sensing everything happening around him to make sure he knows what to expect and what to do at every given second.

It was clear Elio needed to work on that more.

"Elio!"

At that moment, his grandmother rushed to him. "Are you good, son?"

"Yeah, I’m fine... Just had a knock, that’s all." He replied. "What about you?"

"I’m fine... But, wow, what was that?"

"Hm? That was one of my runes. It’s called Blood Momentum."

"Blood Momentum?" Emilia raised an eyebrow. "Hm, interesting..."

"Have you heard of it before, Grandma?"

"No... I don’t think I did. But, I don’t know why it sounds rather familiar."

Emilia tried to remember where she heard something similar, but she couldn’t. However, she was certain that it was something Elio’s father told her years ago.

"Oh well," Elio replied as he walked to the windows and peeked outside. Chaos was still the same as ever. He could see all the corpses, the humans, the vampires, and the hunters that reached the area and tried to contain the mess.

Then, he stared into the distance, and all he saw was rising pillars of smoke and destruction. The city looked completely unrecognizable.

Elio pursed his lips, his face dark and grim. That was just horrid to watch. In a matter of minutes, the city looked like it had gone through an apocalypse.

’This is going to change the world completely... We won’t be able to contain the secret of vampires from the masses anymore. Unless the big clans have a way to do that.’ Elio muttered.

The Hunter Society and the rest of the clans will have to do what they can to somehow contain this disaster. No matter the outcome, the public will take this extremely negatively, and a massive, worldwide panic would erupt.

People would start doubting other people around them. They would think everyone could be a vampire, and some would even start doubting themselves.

"This has never happened in all the years I have been alive... An attack on this scale. What a mess..." Emilia said as she approached her grandson. She knew far better than he how bad this truly is.

It was a tragedy of incomprehensible scale.

"What should we do, Grandma?" He asked. "So many people died... So many innocent lives were taken."

"You can only do one thing, son. Just let those who are in power do their job. As much as I loathe them, they’re still in that position for a reason, and this directly threatens their influence, they will definitely do everything within their power to contain this situa-"

As she was about to finish that sentence, suddenly they heard the glass break behind them. Elio turned around, ready with his sword. However, he was shocked to see not one, but several vampires rushing toward him from every direction.

There were at least 7 of them.

"WHAT?!!" Elio blurted out as he channeled his energy. "We need to run, Grandma!"

Then, he grabbed her hand and started running. The vampires lunged at him, but Elio kicked them with his leg, giving them a few precious seconds to try and escape.

However, that was it... A few seconds. As they recovered, the vampires attacked again, and since Elio was running with his grandmother, their speed was considerably slower.

’Dammit. We won’t make it.’ Shifting his plan rapidly, Elio moved in front of his grandmother.

"Continue running! I will take care of this!" He said.

"Don’t be ridiculous, Elio! You will die! You should run!"

"Absolutely not!"

"RAAAA!"

The monsters lunged at Elio at the same time. The boy was completely lost; he was getting attacked from every direction. However, he still brandished his sword as he slashed with all his power. The sword cut through two vampires, but it didn’t kill them.

"Agh!"

The rest took that opportunity as they attacked him, pushing him down with ease. If Elio struggled with one vampire, then 5 were going to be impossible. The boy didn’t even get a second to breathe before fangs were already on their way to bite him.

He quickly pushed his arm forward, trying to stop them from biting his neck. His arm was at least not as crucial and vital as his neck, and it was also going to make it harder for them to suck him.

The fangs sank into his skin with ease as blood gushed out. Then, more and more fangs sank into his body as he tried to protect his neck. Elio knew exactly what was going to happen next.

Upon getting a taste of his blood, all the vampires shuddered and froze as if they were struck by lightning.

’Now!’ Elio quickly grabbed his sword and slashed. The sword severed several necks at the same time, alleviating some pressure off Elio’s body. Using that, he kicked the last two vampires off him enough to try to stand up.

As he was about to try and finish them off, he suddenly saw something that made his heart stop for a second. A good distance away from him, his grandmother stood, watching the scene with a horrified look on her face.

While he was busy, another vampire had reached their area and snuck behind his grandmother.

As Elio stared up, he saw the vampire rushing toward his grandmother, ready to attack.

"Grandma!!!" He yelled. "Behind you!!"

His scream made the woman stare over her shoulder at the vampire as it slammed into her. The woman fell to the ground roughly. At the same time, Elio rushed toward her, ignoring everything else happening around him. He used all the speed he could muster at that moment.

Sadly, he was far too late. The monster’s mouth opened as it was about to sink its teeth into his grandmother’s neck.

Everything around Elio seemingly froze as he watched that happen. His heart sank, his mind went completely white as everything flashed before his eyes. He felt as if he was watching the end of the world before his eyes.

Fear, desperation, hopelessness, and brutal reality all sank in on him at the same time. He felt that he was going to lose his very last family member in this world, his last family.

He wanted to run faster, to reach her faster, but this was his limit; he could not run any faster. That was when he realized how truly powerless he is... How truly weak and pathetic he was. How many things are completely out of his control, and that he is merely reacting and never the one to be proactive.

’Fuck... Fuck!!!!!’ He cursed in his head as he saw the teeth reach his grandmother. At that moment, in a seemingly completely unexpected manner... The monster suddenly vanished.

It happened in a split second, faster than Elio’s eyes could see. The monster was there and then the next second, it wasn’t.

"Huh?"

Turning to look over his shoulder, the other vampires have vanished too as if they were never there in the first place.

"..."

Elio didn’t understand what happened at all. However, he didn’t stop running as he quickly approached his grandmother.

"Grandma! Grandma!! Are you ok? Did you get hurt?" 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

"Cough, cough..." The woman coughed a few times. "I’m fine... Ugh, my back..."

"Here, let me help you stand up." He said as he grabbed her hand.

"Where did that thing go? What happened?"

"... I... I don’t know..." Elio said as he looked around him. The vampires were nowhere to be seen.

"Where... did they go?" Emilia asked.
