Chapter 293: Saving Izumi

Jenna drove a little farther before pulling over at the side of the road. They left the car there and made their way to the warehouse on foot.

Using the shrubs and trees for cover, they crept as close as possible without being spotted.

"We have to be in and out within ten minutes before someone notices the car down the road."

"Ten minutes? I did tell you they have guns, right?" Yohan asked.

"Yeah," she replied calmly, reaching to her side and pulling out a handgun, holding it with the ease of a professional.

"You have a gun?"

The moment the words left his mouth, he realized how stupid the question sounded. Of course she had a gun—she was a trained killer. If anything, the real surprise was that she had never felt the need to mention it until now.

"Only for extreme emergencies," she said, her eyes never leaving the building.

That explained why she hadn’t looked particularly shocked when he mentioned they were armed.

"So... are guns really just that common?" he wondered aloud.

"I can tell you all about how I got this one after we rescue Izumi."

She pulled out her phone and handed it to Yohan. A single red dot blinked on the screen.

"It’s an advanced tracking device. It’ll lead us directly to her. That’s how I found this place."

"I figured that much, but why are you handing it to me?"

"Because I’ll be too busy shooting, so you’ll have to find her."

"You know... I never actually said I wanted to risk my life saving this girl," Yohan said with a small sigh.

"Really? Then why don’t you tell me what you two were doing together before she was captured?" Jenna asked, narrowing her eyes slightly.

Yohan gave an awkward smile, suddenly feeling a strong surge of motivation.

"You know what? Let’s both just do our best. I’m sure Izumi’s terrified and alone right now."

"Yes, we can talk about that later." Jenna got to her feet, dusting off her clothes before calmly walking toward the front entrance.

They found a side door with less men than at the main entrance, two of them were carrying submachine guns, while the others with long blades. He suspected it had something to do with his escape. They were probably on high alert searching everywhere for him.

’Even if that’s the case, is she really just going to walk up there and start shooting?’

"Hey, who’s the chick?" one of the four guards asked, pointing at her.

"I dunno—"

Bang!

A bullet slammed into his chest, she was still a far distance out so the shot and the precision came as a shock.

It was immediately followed by another loud bang, bringing down another

"She’s got a gun!" one of them screamed and tried to run back inside, but he was dropped by a clean shot to the back of his head.

Even with a gun of his own, the last guy wasn’t much different.

The moment panic hit him, whatever training he had, vanished. He stumbled backward, fumbling for the handle of the door, his hands shaking too badly to grip it. He finally turned and raised his gun to fire...

Bang!

The shot tore through his shoulder, spinning him around with a cry of pain. He collapsed hard against the concrete, groaning as blood quickly soaked through his shirt.

Silence followed.

The sharp smell of gunpowder lingered in the air.

Jenna lowered the pistol slowly, her expression unreadable, as if she had merely finished an annoying chore rather than dropped four men in less than ten seconds.

Yohan stared at her.

"...You really weren’t joking about being too busy shooting."

"I told you. You find Izumi, I’ll keep them occupied."

She said with calm confidence.

Yohan looked at the bodies on the ground, then at the front doors now swinging slightly open.

’So much for not killing anybody’ he sighed.

Without waiting, Jenna bent over one of the fallen guards and picked up his gun checking the magazine for ammo before clipping it back in.

"Now that they know we are here they’ll come running this way, so try not to take too long," there was no emotion or fear behind her eyes, only cold calculating efficiency.

After a brief moment of disbelief, Yohan muttered, "I should have just ran away when I had the chance,"

Just as she had said, Mason’s men were already sprinting this way. She sprayed out some bullets and forced them to hide, while Yohan ran in the direction where they had taken Izumi.

His ’Mind Unlock’ effects had since worn off so he had to rely of the tracker Jenna had given him.

Behind him he could hear the heated exchange of bullets.

It was hard to believe Jenna was actually holding her own against all those men, her shooting skills turned out to to be her most impressive so far.

’Still she probably won’t be holding them for long, meaning I can’t waste anytime’

Just at that moment he ran into a small group of men, they charged at him the moment they spotted him.

’No need to hold back now that Jenna had appeared and started slaughtering people’ Yohan dove into the group, driving his knee into the forerunner’s face with a wet crunch.

A knife whipped toward his neck. Superior speed let him duck under it. His fist slammed into the attacker’s torso next, twisting organs with a single, devastating punch.

Another blade sliced downward. Yohan shadowed the motion, seized the wrist, then hammered the elbow joint. It snapped backward with a sickening crack, ripping a guttural scream from the man’s throat.

Yohan snatched one by the hair and smashed his face into the ground, blood spraying across the concrete.

Before long, they all lay broken. He pressed toward Izumi, scattering a few more stragglers with lightning reactions that left him unscathed.

Following the tracker, he descended to the basement.

There she was—chained by the neck like a dog, eyes wide with desperation.

"I figured you’d come this way," a voice drawled from the shadows.

It was Alfredo, one of the four men Yohan had spotted at Mason Blackfire’s table.
