Chapter 294: Against Alfredo
He was by far the youngest of all Mason’s top men, His brightly coloured hair and flashy clothes made him look more like a pop-star than a gangster.
Still he carried a mysterious air, the kind that said this man was far from ordinary.
"Where did you disappear to?" Alfredo asked, "I was sure you’d come looking for her once you escaped, did Gunjoo hide you or something?"
Yohan clicked his teeth annoyed at this outcome, he was hoping to avoid running into any of Mason’s top men just as Gunjoo had advised.
But now that Alfredo had appeared before him, there was no other choice. In fact the only reasonable option was to bring the whole place down along with Mason.
’if I can’t make it out of here without any trouble, then I can’t leave another set of enemies behind’
This had always been a final option, one that would require him to use extreme force to kill off anyone that might end up being a danger to his family.
But deep down he struggled to accept. To claim the life of even another person was a very big deal for him, because this time wouldn’t be an accident like last time. It would be a choice.
"Why are you staring at me like that?" Alfredo asked with a grin, "Are you planning on killing me?"
"Actually I only plan on getting out of here," Yohan replied with a grin of his own, "but I don’t think you’ll let us go peacefully,"
Alfredo walked across the room and stood a small distance away from him. They were roughly the same height, with a similar frame but Alfredo still looked slightly more mature.
"Maybe if you’re to leave without the girl, it wouldn’t be a problem," he said calmly, glancing at her crouched down behind Yohan.
"Didn’t you say you wanted to take down Hatoru, then why are you trying to protect his granddaughter?" he added with a questioning look.
"I’m not... I just can’t let you people leave her chained up like a dog,"
"Then what are you going to do about it?" Alfredo asked with an unsettling sinister grin.
Yohan tightened his fist and threw a punch. He weighed his choices and decided to attack first, believing he could knock his opponent out with one clean hit and end the fight before it even truly began.
But he never expected Alfredo to dodge with such ease.
"So this was your choice in the end," Alfredo said, leaning back just enough for Yohan’s fist to miss his face by inches.
In the same motion, he countered with a roundhouse kick.
From that angle, it was the last thing Yohan expected, but his body reacted on instinct. He raised his arm just in time to block the strike from smashing into the side of his head.
Even so, the impact was brutal.
Alfredo’s leg slammed into him with enough force to nearly knock him off his feet. Pain shot through his arm as he stumbled backward, struggling to regain his balance.
From that brief exchange alone, Yohan could already tell there was something different about this man.
Even while holding back, Yohan’s punches weren’t easy to avoid, yet Alfredo had slipped past it effortlessly.
And that kick...
It was easily the hardest hit he had taken from anyone.
Worse still, it didn’t even look like Alfredo was fighting seriously yet.
"You’re good," Alfredo said with a faint smile.
"I was just about to say the same thing," Yohan replied, returning it with a smirk.
"What do you say we go all out for a minute?"
Yohan imagined himself actually going all about for a minute and for a moment he actually felt a rush of excitement.
"Okay, why not,"
Alfredo rushed in with a double kick, but Yohan blocked it skillfully, already throwing a series of sharp jabs before Alfredo’s feet had even touched the ground.
Alfredo moved his head with incredible speed, weaving through every single strike by margins so small they looked impossible. Each punch missed by inches—sometimes less.
Yohan was shocked, but he kept his composure.
’This is getting interesting.’
Then Alfredo twisted his body midair, his movement so fluid it was almost unnatural. His entire frame rotated, making it impossible for Yohan to predict where the next kick was coming from.
Left? Right? High? Low?
For a split second, Yohan couldn’t read him at all.
But the moment he focused on Alfredo’s meridian lines, everything became clear. The flow of movement through his body revealed the path before it happened, making the direction of the kick obvious.
Yohan reacted instantly.
He caught Alfredo’s leg mid-strike and, with a sharp twist, hurled him away.
Alfredo, however, was far too skilled to be taken down so easily. Instead of crashing, he planted a hand against the ground, using the momentum to support himself. His body flipped smoothly, and he landed safely several feet away, balanced and steady as if he had planned it all along.
"Now, I’m really impressed."
Alfredo’s grin never faded as he reached behind his back and pulled out a knife from beneath his jacket.
The moment the blade appeared, Yohan could feel the tension in the air shift.
Neither of them had taken any real damage so far, but that was exactly what bothered him. It felt like Alfredo had been matching him the entire time, testing him, without ever truly going all out.
That alone made him more dangerous than Kai Lu and everyone Yohan had fought before.
Even opponents boosted by food enhancement items hadn’t been able to keep up like this.
"Before we continue, can you answer a question for me?" Alfredo asked, holding the knife loosely by his side.
"Would you let us go if I do?" Yohan replied.
"Depends on whether you’re honest."
Alfredo’s eyes narrowed slightly.
"What is the name of your special technique?"
Yohan’s expression didn’t change, but inside, his thoughts paused.
"I... don’t know what you’re talking about," he said.
