Oh No, Daddy Sent Me To The Beast World!
Chapter 149: Elder Sister, did the Dream Beast God really show you all that when you hit your head?
Even Lin Weishan, who had tried to stay stern after the river topic, ate more than he probably intended. Bai Ruyue’s males all took turns asking about the herbs, and Xiong Han even admitted with great difficulty that the meat was better this way. Shui Lang clutched his chest as if hearing that confession had nearly killed him. Bao Xun quietly took note of which spice fruit she used. Ying Zhe, with his sharp hawk memory, repeated her steps perfectly after hearing them only once.
By the time everyone finished eating, the fire had burned lower, and the evening around them had deepened into a soft purple night. The tribe sounds became calmer. Males returned from work, females called cubs inside, cooking fires glowed between stone cave houses, and the scent of smoke and warm meat floated through the air.
Lin Huahua’s younger brothers were still not ready to leave her alone.
Lin Xiaojiu had squeezed himself onto the fur at her side, leaning against her arm like a clingy little rat cub. Xiong Baobao sat in front of her with his chin in his hands, his round bear ears twitching every time she spoke. Ying Chengyu sat on a low stone with his wings tucked tightly behind him, pretending he was only listening casually even though his eyes were brighter than anyone else’s.
Lin Huahua, who had eaten enough and felt warm from the fire, suddenly found herself telling them stories.
At first, she had only wanted to distract them from asking more dangerous questions.
Then she got carried away.
She told them about the Dream Beast God, since that ridiculous lie had already been born and could not be killed anymore. But instead of talking about simple dreams, she started describing things from the sci-fi world in a way that sounded like impossible myths.
She told them about giant iron beasts that could run faster than any horse beastman while carrying hundreds of people inside their bellies.
Lin Xiaojiu’s eyes became round. "Inside their bellies? Would they not be eaten?"
Lin Huahua shook her head seriously. "No. The iron beast does not digest people. It opens its side and lets people enter."
Xiong Baobao looked horrified and fascinated. "Why would anyone walk into a beast’s belly willingly?"
"Because it takes them where they want to go."
Ying Chengyu frowned. "Then it is not a beast. It is a moving cave."
Lin Huahua paused.
Actually, that was not bad.
"Yes," she said, pointing at him. "A moving cave beast."
Lin Xiaojiu gasped. "Can it climb trees?"
"No."
"Then hawks are better."
Ying Chengyu nodded as if this was obvious.
Lin Huahua continued anyway, now enjoying herself. She told them about glowing stones that could hold voices, and flat mirror tablets where people could see distant places. She told them about rooms that became cold without winter, lights that appeared without fire, and sky ships that crossed great distances without wings.
The younger brothers listened like she was revealing secrets of heaven.
Even Bai Ruyue’s males had slowly grown quieter to listen.
Shui Lang leaned forward at one point and asked, "This Dream Beast God has a cave that makes winter air?"
Lin Huahua nodded confidently. "Yes."
Xiong Han frowned. "Why would anyone want winter air inside a cave?"
Lin Huahua answered without hesitation. "Because outside can be too hot."
Xiong Han looked like this was the first reasonable thing she had said about the Dream Beast God.
Ying Zhe’s eyes narrowed thoughtfully. "A flying sky ship without wings is impossible."
Lin Huahua waved one hand. "That is why it belongs to the Dream Beast God."
Bao Xun looked at her. "Convenient."
Lin Huahua smiled sweetly. "Very convenient."
Feng Yiren sat across from her, arms crossed, red fox ears tilted forward, watching her tell the most outrageous lies with such a serious face that he almost respected it. Almost. The annoying thing was that she told the stories so well that even he wanted to keep listening. He knew there was something hidden behind her words. He knew these were not simple dreams. But the way her eyes shone while she spoke, the way her ears perked up, the way her hands moved as she described impossible things, made him unable to interrupt.
Mu Qingyi listened with a soft expression, because whether the stories were true or not, he liked hearing her voice. Hu Baiyu sat close enough for his shoulder to almost touch hers, his lion ears forward, his blue eyes fixed on her face with complete devotion. Every time she described something exciting, her tail would swish, and every time her tail brushed his leg, he would go still for one happy second.
Lin Xiaojiu finally leaned closer and whispered, "Elder Sister, did the Dream Beast God really show you all that when you hit your head?"
Lin Huahua’s smile froze.
Feng Yiren’s mouth curved.
Lin Huahua quickly said, "Yes."
Xiong Baobao’s face became serious. "Then should I hit my head too?"
Everyone shouted at once.
"No!"
Xiong Baobao flinched so hard his round bear ears flattened.
Lin Huahua grabbed his shoulders in panic. "Never do that. The Dream Beast God only comes when he wants. If you hit your head on purpose, you will only become stupid."
Lin Xiaojiu nodded wisely. "Then Feng Yiren must have met him many times."
Feng Yiren slowly turned his head toward the rat boy.
Lin Xiaojiu immediately hid behind Lin Huahua.
Lin Huahua laughed so hard she had to cover her mouth, and even Lin Weishan let out a low chuckle this time. Feng Yiren looked offended, but because Lin Xiaojiu was Lin Huahua’s younger brother and also much smaller than him, he could only narrow his eyes and remember the insult for some harmless future revenge.
Time moved faster after that.
The fire became lower.
The night outside became deeper.
Bai Ruyue’s males began cleaning the cooking stones, setting aside bones, and covering leftover meat with leaves and hides.
