Only I am Venerable
Chapter 113 - 111: Ruthless and Crazy
Even the girls inside the shop couldn’t help but gasp upon hearing the name "Daqing Gang." Most turned pale, their eyes filling with terror.
As it turned out, Qin Li had indeed heard of the Daqing Gang. Because Watermelon also ran with gangs, Qin Li had a thorough understanding of the major gangs in Cyan Dragon City.
The Daqing Gang was rumored to have an incredibly deep background. A few years ago, His Highness the Second Prince and the son of the Daqing Gang’s leader both took a fancy to the same woman, and the situation grew incredibly tense. For men of their status, it was no longer a simple matter of vying for a woman; it was a battle for face and for pride.
One was a Prince of noble status, the other a Crown Prince of the underworld. In the end, the matter was settled with eerie silence, and no one ever spoke of it again.
But according to those truly in the know, the woman ultimately became the private possession of the Daqing Gang’s Crown Prince.
This showed just how immense the Daqing Gang’s power was—even a Prince of the kingdom couldn’t contend with them.
Of course, it was possible the Second Prince had voluntarily backed down, feeling the affair was shameful and beneath him. But the fact that the Daqing Gang remains the Dragon Head of Cyan Dragon City’s underworld to this day said it all.
In his past life, Qin Li had been the spiritual leader of a major gang, so he knew that an organization on the level of the Daqing Gang was no longer a simple gang. It was undoubtedly entangled with countless powers, both large and small.
Anyone who could become the Gang Leader had to be a person of incredible means and influence.
But then again, so what?
Qin Li was especially well-informed about the incident of jealous rivalry between the Second Prince and the Daqing Gang’s Crown Prince. Thinking of this, he slowly walked up to the man who called himself a Master of the Daqing Gang, a simple and humble smile on his face.
All the girls in the shop, except for Bu Yunyan, looked on with pity. After all, who would want to see one of their own bow their head to an outsider?
Many in the crowd outside, who had been waiting to watch the show, couldn’t help but let out a sigh. Losing interest, they started to disperse. Now that the Daqing Gang was involved, this shop... was finished.
The effeminate middle-aged man stared at Qin Li, his eyes cold as he let out a sinister chuckle. "You little brat with the Great Qi accent, you scared now? Hmph, you think I can’t recognize it? Let me tell you, it’s useless even if you are. You... are dead—"
SLAP!
With lightning speed, Qin Li swung his arm. A brilliant cyan light flashed around him as a fast, heavy slap landed squarely on the middle-aged man’s face. The sound was incredibly crisp, echoing through the now pin-drop silent shop.
The force of Qin Li’s slap sent the middle-aged man flying into Du Ziteng’s group of guards, knocking two of them over in the process.
The spacious shop was instantly thrown into chaos!
Outside, the crowd of onlookers erupted!
The simple and humble smile remained on Qin Li’s face, his voice just as gentle as before. "The Daqing Gang? Are they supposed to be impressive?"
Du Ziteng stood frozen, staring at Qin Li in horror. The crisp sound of the slap still echoed in his mind. SLAP... SLAP... SLAP!
He subconsciously reached up to touch his own face, feeling as if it were his own cheek that was burning and tingling.
After a long moment, Little General Du finally noticed that the middle-aged man was still on the ground. He hurried over, only to see the man’s mouth was full of blood. Half his face had collapsed, and his eyes were shut tight. He had been knocked unconscious!
Du Ziteng’s heart plummeted. He knew this was serious. ’This is really serious!’
This middle-aged man was his maternal uncle, Gao Shitong. He was a direct descendant of the Gao Family, a Noble Family in the Cyan Dragon Kingdom. Since he couldn’t inherit the family’s fortune, he had struck out on his own as a young man. Leveraging the status of his brother-in-law—the Imperial Left General—he successfully secured the coveted position of a Master in the Daqing Gang.
The title of Master was reserved for the Daqing Gang’s High Level Tributors. The gang had over a dozen Masters like Gao Shitong, and every single one of them came from an extraordinary and powerful background.
And now, here he was, knocked unconscious by a single slap in a shop run by a foreigner. Du Ziteng could already imagine the reactions of the Daqing Gang, his own mother, and the Gao Family when they found out.
He shot a bone-chilling glare back at Qin Li, as if searing the boy’s face into his memory, and forced a few words through his clenched teeth: "Kid, you’d better pray for a miracle!"
Qin Li smiled and pointed at Du Ziteng. "You want to get hit too?"
"You..." Du Ziteng nearly passed out from rage. He’d seen arrogant men, and he’d seen men with a death wish, but he’d never seen anyone so arrogant *and* with a death wish. He always thought he was ruthless, but the youth before him was infinitely more so.
At this thought, Du Ziteng suddenly smiled, his eyes filled with venom. He nodded. "Fine, kid. You’re ruthless. You’re tough. I won’t fight you. You just wait to die."
With that, he stood up. "Carry my uncle away and get him treated," he ordered. He took another deep look at Qin Li, then at Bu Yunyan, whose expression remained unchanged. "Boss Bu, you’re on your own now. No one can save you. Not even me."
Finished, he turned to leave.
"Wait," Qin Li said flatly. "Did I say you could go?"
Du Ziteng whipped his head around, his eyes narrowed. He had, of course, seen the brilliant cyan light erupt from Qin Li. He sneered, "So what if you’re a Profound Level Martial Artist? Believe it or not, if I wasn’t saving you for my uncle to get his revenge personally, I’d have my men hack you to paste right now!"
"I don’t," Qin Li said simply. He then pointed to the still-unconscious middle-aged man. "Chop off the paw he used to strike, then you can all scram."
"Kill him!" Du Ziteng exploded in fury, roaring the command at his guards.
An incredibly bizarre aura suddenly erupted from Qin Li. The bone-chilling sensation made it hard for Du Ziteng and his guards to breathe. Horror dawned in all their eyes.
’This man is no Profound Level!’
This was the thought in everyone’s mind.
"If you won’t do it, I’ll do it myself." A simple, honest smile graced Qin Li’s handsome face as he started walking toward the man on the floor.
Gao Shitong had actually been awake for some time, but the humiliation was something he’d never experienced in his life. How could he possibly find the face to wake up? He never imagined the youth would be so vicious, that he would actually want to chop off his hand... At that thought, Gao Shitong shot up from the floor, one side of his face swollen to a grotesque size.
This was only because Qin Li had held back. Otherwise, that one slap would have smashed his head like a rotten Watermelon.
"Wh-what are you doing... You dare touch me? You have a death wish! The Daqing Gang will annihilate your entire clan!" Gao Shitong stammered, his speech slurred from the numbness in his cheek.
"Annihilate my clan? Heh," Qin Li gave a bone-chilling smile. "No need. The Great Qi Kingdom already did that for me." He grabbed Gao Shitong’s collar and began dragging him outside. "Chopping off your dog’s paw inside would dirty my shop!"
"Stop..." Fear finally gripped Du Ziteng. ’This kid is clearly a madman! A madman... A madman is capable of anything! Trying to reason with him is pointless!’ Forcing his head to turn, Du Ziteng struggled against the immense pressure emanating from Qin Li.
His gaze fell upon Bu Yunyan, his voice laced with desperation. "Don’t... don’t you care about your shop? Or your woman? What about these... these girls... You don’t care if they live or die?"
Du Ziteng’s desperate threat was met with scorn from the crowd outside. A wave of murmurs went through them. Threatening someone with a group of helpless women—how utterly classless!
Without turning his head, Qin Li said coolly, "Why don’t you try?"
When Qin Li emerged, the crowd surged back with a WHOOSH, clearing an empty space more than twenty meters across. Most stared at the richly-dressed youth with excitement. Some secretly admired him, some cursed him for a fool, and still others looked on with contempt.
Gao Shitong was now truly terrified. ’This kid isn’t just a reckless brat, he’s a goddamn madman! How could he not have heard of the Daqing Gang? Anyone who’s lived in the Imperial Capital for more than six months has heard of the Daqing Gang!’
"Y-you, let me go... and we’ll call it... even!"
Finally unable to withstand the immense pressure, Gao Shitong spoke in a very low voice.
"What was that? I didn’t hear you," Qin Li said, gripping Gao Shitong’s collar. A mocking, half-smile played on his lips.
Gao Shitong’s face flushed crimson, his eyes flashing with deep humiliation and rage. He shouted, "Let me go, and we’ll call it... even!"
"Heh," Qin Li grinned, baring his teeth. "Too late!"
CRACK!
The crisp sound of a bone snapping echoed.
Gao Shitong let out a bloodcurdling scream, a sharp and shrill sound that was utterly terrifying to hear.
A collective gasp rippled through the onlookers. They stood frozen like statues, completely dumbfounded.
’Who could have imagined this richly-dressed youth would be so vicious? He struck without a moment’s hesitation, giving no one a chance to react!’
’Gods, that’s... that’s the Daqing Gang! The same gang even the Second Prince can’t afford to offend!’
’This guy truly has a death wish!’
At the sound of Gao Shitong’s scream, Du Ziteng, who was just outside the door, went deathly pale. He muttered, "It’s over... it’s all over now..."
Qin Li tossed Gao Shitong to the ground and said coolly to Du Ziteng, "Scram. Dare to cause trouble here again, and it won’t be settled this easily."
A subject dies for his humiliated lord. Unable to stomach the insult, one of Du Ziteng’s guards roared in anger, "You reckless fool! Even if you’re a Celestial Level master, don’t even think about leaving the Imperial Capital alive!"
SLAP!
The crowd only saw a blur, and the guard’s cheek was already swelling rapidly.
"Too much talking." Qin Li, already back at the shop’s entrance, said flatly with a curl of his lip.
’He’s a madman!’
At that moment, only a single thought remained in everyone’s mind.
