Chloe Reed covered her mouth in shock and whispered, "Oh my god, you actually stood by the bed and watched?!"

Ivy Vance: "..."

Before she could react, Chloe Reed added, "Or... were you hoping to be the leading lady yourself?"

Ivy Vance gripped her wine glass, her teeth clenched. "Well, since Mrs. Grant is here, I hope you eat, drink, and have a good time. I’ll leave you to it."

She turned and walked away to chat with someone else.

Chloe Reed’s lips curled into a smirk, a flicker of mockery in her eyes.

Iris Yates, who had been holding it in beside her, looked at Chloe Reed with concern. "Chloe, are you okay?"

But Iris Yates’s heart ached for her.

"What the hell is that damned scumbag thinking? Is he trying to announce his relationship with your sister to the whole world by bringing her to a banquet like this? If that’s the case, why hasn’t he filed for divorce from you?"

It just leaves Chloe to be mocked like this, letting anyone think they can walk all over her.

If she thought she could win the fight, Iris Yates really would have stormed over there and torn that damned scumbag’s smug face apart.

Chloe Reed gently patted her arm. "Okay, calm down. Don’t forget why we came here today."

Iris Yates took a deep breath to calm herself. "So, where is the Vance family’s eldest son? Why hasn’t he shown up yet?"

Chloe Reed surveyed the room. "The guests haven’t all arrived. The star of the show always makes a late entrance. Come on, let’s get something to eat first."

There was a buffet area in the banquet hall with an array of exquisite pastries, meant to tide guests over during the long event.

Chloe Reed had just rounded a corner when she saw Walker Grant standing not far away. Beside him was Sunny Reed, and they were chatting with a few other people.

They clinked glasses, looking like they were getting along splendidly.

"What an eyesore."

Iris Yates muttered.

"Chloe, I thought you said you weren’t coming."

Just then, Autumn Linton’s voice came from the side as she approached them.

Chloe Reed glanced at her. "I am a daughter of the Reed family, and I’m also here representing the Reed Group. Of course I had to come."

Autumn Linton’s brow furrowed slightly. "I’ve already finished introducing Sunny to everyone. You can leave now."

Chloe Reed’s grip on her wine glass tightened. She stared at Autumn Linton with crystal-clear eyes. "What? Are you afraid my presence will affect her? Who’s the adopted one here, anyway—her, or me?"

Autumn Linton stepped forward. "Chloe, this is not the time or place to cause a scene. Our family has a potential partnership to discuss with the Vance family. Look how well your sister is getting along with them. What if you go over there now and ruin the deal?"

Seeing how protective she was of Sunny Reed, Chloe Reed smirked. "Afraid I’ll ruin the deal? That’s an easy fix. Go over there right now and introduce me. Otherwise, there’s really no telling what I might do."

Autumn Linton hadn’t expected to be threatened. Seeing the mocking glint in Chloe’s eyes, she gritted her teeth. "You can see for yourself, Walker is over there helping her. If you go over now, do you want to make a public spectacle of us?"
