Chapter 195: Teaching Chloe Reed a Lesson
Chloe Reed opened the door, her expression impassive as she watched them with guarded eyes.
She had seen everything that happened at the door.
She was furious, but also powerless.
Because this was a Reed family affair, the police were of no use.
The policeman said, "Your father came to see you. There was no need to call us."
Chloe Reed pressed her lips together, then said after a moment of contemplation, "He brought so many people with him. I thought he was going to beat me."
"What are you talking about? I’m just worried about you. I want to protect you. Chloe, stop this nonsense and let your father in. We haven’t spoken in so long. I’ve been worried sick." Charles Reed certainly knew how to put on a show.
Chloe Reed looked at the officers. "I don’t want to let him in."
"Chloe!"
Charles Reed’s expression darkened.
It was a domestic affair, so the police really couldn’t intervene.
They took their leave.
Chloe Reed tried to shut the door again, but a bodyguard’s hand shot out and caught it, stopping her.
The color drained from Chloe Reed’s face, her eyes filled with alarm. "What do you want?!"
Charles Reed glared at her, his eyes dark. "Did you think hurting someone and spending a day at the station would be the end of it? Chloe Reed, you still haven’t apologized to your sister!"
Chloe Reed gritted her teeth. ’I knew it!’
’Whenever my parents looked for me, it was always because of Sunny!’
She felt an overwhelming sense of exhaustion.
She said, "Let’s get a DNA test." 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
"How dare you keep spouting nonsense!" Charles Reed was livid. He held his hand out to a bodyguard. "The whip!"
He had come prepared.
Chloe Reed stumbled back two steps, her face growing even paler. Her voice was strained. "You can’t hit me! I didn’t push Sunny!"
"Still talking back? Your sister is grievously injured, and not only are you unrepentant, you haven’t even gone to the hospital to see her! How could I have raised such a black-hearted daughter!"
Whip in hand, Charles Reed’s voice seethed with fury as he lashed out at her.
Chloe Reed tried to run, but the bodyguards he’d brought pinned her down.
CRACK!
The lash landed viciously across her back.
Pain exploded through her. Chloe Reed let out a wretched scream as tears streamed down her face.
"Will you admit you were wrong!"
Seeing her pained, crying face, Charles Reed demanded harshly.
Chloe Reed trembled with pain, a cold sweat breaking out on her skin. She looked up at him, her clear eyes filled with an unprecedented chill.
"I did nothing wrong!"
Then, she grinned. "You’d better kill me," she said, "because if you don’t, I’ll return this pain to Sunny a thousand times over!"
"You wretch!"
Charles Reed’s face was ashen with rage. He couldn’t let such a stubborn, incorrigible daughter go unpunished.
He raised his arm, and another lash fell across Chloe Reed’s back.
Her white shirt was quickly stained with blood. Her slender body trembled uncontrollably. Even if the bodyguards weren’t holding her, she was past the point of escape.
Pain.
It hurt so much.
Her back was on fire, and a roar filled her ears.
Chloe Reed bit her lip, refusing to let another scream escape.
Because the man before her, her father by blood, would feel no pity for her.
It was just as it had been countless times before. From the day Sunny Reed set foot in the Reed family home, Chloe was no longer the apple of their eye.
After three lashes, Charles Reed’s own hand was trembling. He looked at Chloe Reed’s pale face. "Go to the hospital and apologize to your sister now. Tell her you’ll never go against her again, and we’ll consider this matter finished."
The bodyguards released her. She collapsed limply to the floor, her entire body trembling in agony.
