Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 196: Stabbing at Sunny Reed
She was silent, her breathing ragged and sharp.
Charles Reed tossed the whip aside and ordered in a low voice, "Take her to the hospital."
A bodyguard stepped forward, yanked Chloe Reed up, and dragged her out.
Chloe Reed didn’t even have the strength to struggle. The slightest movement sent a sharp pain through her back.
By the time she was placed in the car, her head was spinning.
Meanwhile, the bodyguards secretly following Chloe Reed witnessed the scene, their eyes widening in shock. They immediately scrambled to call Walker Grant.
...
At the hospital, the strong smell of disinfectant hung in the air.
Charles Reed pushed open the door to the hospital room and saw Sunny Reed lying on the bed, with Autumn Linton sitting beside her, peeling an apple.
"Dad, what are you doing here so late?"
Sunny Reed was very surprised to see him.
Charles Reed said in a low voice, "I brought Chloe here to apologize to you."
Sunny Reed froze for a moment, then quickly said, "There’s no need. I know my sister didn’t do it on purpose. I’m fine..."
But before she could finish, she saw Chloe Reed being dragged in by the bodyguards.
She gasped and reflexively stood up. "Sister..."
"Oh my god!" Autumn Linton cried out when she saw the scene. The apple in her hand fell to the floor. She rushed forward to support Chloe Reed, anxiously checking on her. "What happened?"
Then, she saw the wounds on Chloe Reed’s back. Her gaze shot up to Charles Reed, her voice trembling. "You... you hit Chloe?"
With a grim expression, Charles Reed sat down in a chair and said, "She was disobedient. She deserved to suffer a little."
Autumn Linton’s face was filled with heartache and worry. "How could you hit a child? Couldn’t you have just talked to her properly?"
She asked, her heart aching for her, "Chloe, does it hurt a lot? Mom will go get a doctor for you."
"Don’t go." Charles Reed’s face was dark. "Make her apologize to Sunny. She can see a doctor after she admits she was wrong."
Autumn Linton wanted to say more.
But Charles Reed cut in, "She pushed Sunny down the stairs, causing her to fracture her lower leg. She’s seriously injured, so what’s wrong with making her apologize?"
Autumn Linton pressed her lips together. She looked at Chloe Reed and said softly, "Chloe, what you did this time was indeed wrong. Hurry and apologize to your sister, and then Mom will get you a doctor for the pain."
The pain had lasted so long that her body had grown somewhat numb. She could stand steadily now.
Chloe Reed pulled her hand away from Autumn Linton’s grasp. Her face was pale and beaded with cold sweat as she looked toward Sunny Reed on the hospital bed.
Then, she walked over, step by step.
Sunny Reed’s eyes flickered. She began, "You really don’t have to apologize. I’m fine. Dad, you shouldn’t have hit my sister. She looks like she’s in so much pain."
"Chloe Reed, listen to that! Your sister is constantly worried about you, and what about you? You’re such an ungrateful wretch!"
Charles Reed looked at them, and the contrast only made his heart ache more for Sunny Reed.
As if she hadn’t heard a thing, Chloe Reed continued toward the bed, step by painful step. The wounds on her back were still too agonizing, forcing her to pause every few steps to endure the pain.
Finally, she reached the side of the bed.
"So you want me to apologize to you?"
She asked, her lips pale, then began to laugh.
She reached for the fruit knife on the nightstand and lunged, aiming directly for Sunny Reed’s chest!
"Oh my god!"
"Ahh!"
Gasps and screams erupted!
Sunny Reed’s eyes widened in disbelief, but a flash of madness quickly crossed them. She barely even tried to dodge.
Just as the fruit knife was about to plunge down, Chloe Reed’s wrist was suddenly grabbed.
A large, warm hand clamped around her own. Her hand trembled a few times, and the fruit knife clattered to the floor.
