Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 197: Apologize to Her
"Walker, WAAAH... I don’t know why my sister is doing this. I didn’t do anything."
Sunny Reed immediately burst into tears, stumbling backward, her eyes filled with terror as she looked at Chloe Reed.
"Bastard! That animal actually tried to kill someone. It seems I went too easy on her!" Charles Reed roared in fury.
Autumn Linton covered her mouth, her eyes wide with terror. "Chloe, how could you do something like that?" 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Everyone was blaming Chloe Reed.
But she followed the large hand with her gaze, looking up at the person who had arrived, her eyes fixing on his face.
Walker Grant’s handsome, sharp-featured face was tense, his dark eyes deep and unreadable, betraying no hint of his emotions.
"Chloe, don’t do this,"
he said, his voice somewhat low.
Chloe Reed opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but a wave of dizziness washed over her, and she fainted.
Walker Grant caught her in his arms.
He carefully avoided the wounds on her back, striding out of the hospital room to find a doctor.
"Dad, Mom, it seems I’m not suited to stay in the Reed family anymore. My sister’s misunderstanding of me is just getting worse and worse, and I don’t know what to do. I should probably change my last name back to Su. I... I won’t be able to see you anymore. I want so badly to be a good daughter and repay you for raising me, but I don’t want to die..."
Sunny Reed burst into sobs, her voice full of innocent grief.
Charles Reed’s face was grim. "Nonsense. She’s the one who’s completely out of control. Dad will transfer another ten million to your card. You get some rest. I’ll also arrange for people to protect you; nothing will happen to you."
As if just snapping out of a daze, Autumn Linton stepped forward, took away the fruit knife, and looked at Sunny Reed comfortingly. "Sunny, I am so sorry. I’m apologizing to you on Chloe’s behalf. Please don’t blame her. She... she’s just too impulsive and rash. She won’t be like this in the future."
Sunny Reed said nothing, only continuing to cry.
Autumn Linton looked on, her heart aching, and stepped forward to embrace her.
Charles Reed turned and left the hospital room.
「Inside the examination room.」
Chloe Reed’s shirt was cut open, the fabric stuck to the flesh of her back. As her wounds were being treated, her brows knitted together tightly. She was clearly in immense pain.
Walker Grant held her hand, his entire being exuding a chilling, formidable aura. His dark eyes were locked on the doctor’s hands.
"Be gentler."
"Even gentler."
The doctor started to break out in a cold sweat under that intense gaze.
Just then, Charles Reed walked over. He glanced at the wounds on Chloe Reed’s back: three long lash marks where the blood had congealed. The sight was horrifying.
His expression faltered for a moment, his gaze turning complicated. "Sunny has a broken bone," he said in a low, gravelly voice. "She was only hit a few times. What’s the big deal?"
Walker Grant’s head snapped up, his almond-shaped eyes filled with an icy, condensed fury. His voice was just as frigid. "She’s not just your daughter. She is my wife—the Second Young Madam of the Grant family. How dare you lay a hand on her?"
Charles Reed’s expression stiffened, then his anger flared even hotter. "Walker Grant, I’m your father-in-law! What’s wrong with me disciplining my own daughter?!"
Walker Grant stared at him, his gaze cold. "When she wakes up, apologize to her."
"Are you kidding me?!" Charles Reed let out a laugh of pure anger. "Sunny was hurt that badly, yet Chloe refused to apologize. She even tried to kill her! You saw it all with your own eyes, and you’re still siding with her?!"
"So you won’t be apologizing?" Walker Grant stared at him, his expression grim. "You can’t afford the consequences."
Charles Reed laughed again, this time in disbelief. "Walker Grant, what’s wrong with you? Have you become just like her? Weren’t you the one who cared so much about Sunny?"
