Chapter 199: Chapter 199: Grant Corporation and Reed Group Terminate Cooperation

"Chloe, are you awake?"

Autumn Linton’s cautious voice drifted in.

Walker Grant’s expression darkened. He got up, walked over, and opened the door to find Autumn Linton standing there.

She instinctively took two steps back. "Walker, is Chloe awake?"

Walker Grant said coolly, "What are you doing here?"

Autumn Linton said, "I came to see her. I want to know how she’s doing."

"She’s fine, but she doesn’t want to see you. Don’t come here again," Walker Grant said, his voice grave.

"How could I not?" Autumn Linton’s eyes reddened. "Chloe is so badly injured. I had to come and see her."

Walker Grant closed the door to the hospital room, his handsome face showing a trace of impatience. "When is Chairman Reed coming to apologize to her?"

At his words, Autumn Linton was taken aback. "What apology?"

"Hah!"

Walker Grant scoffed. "So you’re just letting my words go in one ear and out the other, are you?"

Autumn Linton grew flustered. She quickly recovered and said hurriedly, "Walker, her father was just blinded by anger. He didn’t really mean to hit Chloe. He’s her father! What parent apologizes to their child? Besides, this time, Chloe was clearly the one in the wrong."

Walker Grant demanded coldly, "You say she was in the wrong. Did you see her push Sunny Reed with your own eyes?"

Autumn Linton was stunned for a moment before replying, "But Sunny would never hurt herself just to frame Chloe."

"Maybe she slipped, but it couldn’t have been Chloe." Walker Grant had unconditional faith in Chloe Reed.

Autumn Linton tried to say something else.

Walker Grant raised a hand, cutting her off. "Have him come and apologize to Chloe. Otherwise, I won’t show any of you mercy."

With that, he turned and went back into the room.

Autumn Linton stood in the hallway, panicked, then returned with a pale face.

"Charles, what should we do? Walker is furious. You hit Chloe too hard," she said anxiously.

Charles Reed, however, was unconcerned. "He’s just bluffing. I’m his father-in-law. If he actually moved against me, wouldn’t he become a laughingstock? He’s the CEO of the Grant Group; he wouldn’t do something like that."

Despite his words, Autumn Linton felt a deep sense of unease.

Sunny Reed, lying in her hospital bed, struggled to sit up. "I’ll go apologize. It’s all my fault. If it weren’t for me, Dad and Chloe wouldn’t be at such odds. I’ll go apologize to her. I’ll do whatever she asks of me..."

Autumn Linton quickly stopped her. "Sunny, don’t move. Your injuries haven’t healed yet. Besides, this has nothing to do with you. You’re the victim here."

With her eyes red, Sunny Reed said, "But I don’t want you all to get dragged into this because of me. After all, Walker and Chloe have such a long history together."

"He won’t," Autumn Linton quickly reassured her. "Walker won’t do anything." 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

They were clinging to a sliver of wishful thinking.

But by the next day, they weren’t so confident anymore.

When Charles Reed got to his company, he was hit with a series of calls from his subordinates. Numerous partnerships between the Reed Group and Grant Corporation had been terminated. The Reed Group’s own suppliers were also pulling out, some even paying breach-of-contract fees to do so.

The Reed Group’s stock price was instantly thrown into chaos, and the company found itself facing a major crisis.

A board meeting was convened, and the shareholders were utterly baffled.

"The partnership between Grant Corporation and the Reed Group has always been amicable. Why would they suddenly terminate the contracts?"

"Exactly, what in the world happened? Does anyone know?"

"Reed, have you asked your son-in-law? What exactly went wrong? Tell us so we can fix it. Having them pull out like this with no explanation... the losses are going to be huge."
