Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 204: I’m a Born Rebel
"You scoundrel!"
Listening to her, Madam Grant could almost picture the scene. She grew even more furious, clutching her chest as her face turned ghastly.
Chloe Reed watched the old woman, who looked as if she might keel over at any moment, and her tone grew even more placid. "Walker Grant can’t watch me twenty-four hours a day. As soon as I get a chance, I’m going to cause trouble."
"Chloe!"
A vein throbbed on Walker Grant’s temple. He stared at her with his dark eyes, a chill flashing through their depths.
Chloe Reed looked at him. "You should check on your grandmother. She’s about to pass out. Do you really want to be the one who kills her?"
Walker Grant’s expression darkened. "Don’t say another word."
Chloe Reed raised an eyebrow. ’Still not giving in?’
’He can lock me in here, but can he also gag me and stop me from speaking?’
She turned to Madam Grant. "Isn’t Noah Grant only three years old?"
"Walker Grant!"
Madam Grant couldn’t bear to hear another one of her outrageous statements and shot a furious glare at Walker Grant.
But Walker Grant coldly summoned the bodyguards, who forcibly escorted Madam Grant out of the room!
"Scoundrels! You’re all scoundrels!"
Madam Grant was livid, but she couldn’t struggle free.
The door to the hospital room shut once more.
Walker Grant reached up and tugged at his collar, as if to relieve the suffocating tightness in his chest.
He walked over to Chloe Reed and saw the clear disappointment in her slightly furrowed brow.
He reached out and caressed her face. "Chloe, stop playing these petty games. You’re willing to destroy your own future just to divorce me. You’re smart enough to know which is the better choice."
’Unless she’s gone completely mad and is willing to throw everything away, she won’t choose a path of mutual destruction with me.’
"Besides..." Walker Grant’s tone darkened. "If I wish it, you won’t even have to go to jail."
At his words, Chloe Reed’s eyelashes trembled, and she shoved his hand away.
"This will only make me loathe you more."
Walker Grant’s thin lips pressed into a line as he watched her with his dark, brooding eyes.
’She always knew just what to say to get under his skin.’
’And yet her lips were so soft.’
The chaotic emotions roiling in his chest seemed to find an outlet. He suddenly grabbed the back of her head and crushed his lips to hers.
"Mmph!"
Chloe Reed was stunned. She never imagined that one moment they would be arguing and the next he would be kissing her!
She shoved him with all her might, but the movement pulled at the wound on her back, and she shuddered violently.
Walker Grant released her, his brow furrowed. "Why do you always have to struggle? You’re the only one who ends up suffering."
The corners of Chloe Reed’s eyes were red, her chest heaving with rage.
"You’re a beast."
She cursed through gritted teeth.
Walker Grant wasn’t angry. To him, her curses felt utterly meaningless.
"Get some rest. I’ll be back later."
’Since Charles Reed had paid the Grant family a visit, he had to return the "favor." ’
He turned and left. As his presence faded from the room, Chloe Reed sat on the edge of her bed, her eyes vacant.
Just then, her phone rang. She pulled it out and saw, to her surprise, that it was a call from Miles Hawthorne.
’Didn’t he go abroad?’
’Is he back already?’
"Hello, Miles," she answered, her voice a little hoarse.
Miles Hawthorne said, "Chloe Reed, I’m back. Are you still going through with the divorce?"
Chloe Reed’s grip on the phone tightened, and her breath hitched. "But... if you help me, he’ll target you."
"I’m a contrarian by nature," Miles Hawthorne laughed. "The more someone tells me not to do something, the more I want to do it."
