Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 225: So Cruel to Your Sister-in-law?
"You found nothing?" Chloe Reed was shocked. "How could that be?"
Iris Yates scratched her head. "I’m confused too. She entered the orphanage at ten, and there’s a record of that. Your parents adopted her when she was twelve. But all her information from before she entered the orphanage is gone—it’s a complete blank. It’s like someone deliberately erased it."
Chloe Reed’s heart sank. Sunny Reed’s past had been erased.
’Why erase it?’
’Was there something shameful to hide?’
’Or was it to cover something up?’
Iris said, "My skills are limited. This is all I could find."
"You’ve already done great," Chloe said, smiling to reassure her. "Don’t look into it any further."
She was afraid that if Iris kept digging, she would be in danger.
"Mm-hm." Iris nodded. She was lying on her stomach on the bed, resting her chin on the back of her hand, a puzzled look still on her face. "So what do you think Sunny Reed’s identity really is? Your parents treat her so well, and her past was hidden. It’s so mysterious."
Chloe lowered her gaze slightly. "I don’t know."
’If I knew, I wouldn’t be so lost right now.’
Iris yawned. "Sigh... It feels like we’ve hit a dead end. Don’t be too anxious, though. The truth will come out eventually."
"Yeah, I know. You should get some rest if you’re tired."
"Okay, sweetie. Good night."
"Good night."
After hanging up, Chloe sat on the edge of her bed, her expression dazed.
’Charles Reed and Autumn Linton must know about Sunny Reed’s past.’
’So, were they the ones who erased those traces?’
’Why would they do that?’
She couldn’t figure it out.
But now, she couldn’t be bothered to ask.
She had already done a DNA test with Autumn Linton. The results would be out soon.
A pang of bitterness hit her. She tried her best not to think about it, pulling back the covers and getting into bed.
「The next day.」
She took the morning off to handle the property transfer paperwork.
When she returned to work in the afternoon, she saw Walker Grant again.
He treated the voice acting department like his own personal backyard, showing up whenever he pleased.
His dark eyes were fixed on her. "Chloe, where did you go?"
Chloe replied flatly, "To sell my house."
Walker Grant just stared at her, his gaze intense, as if he could see right through her lie.
Chloe gave a self-deprecating smile. "That house doesn’t give me any sense of security. Anyone can just waltz in. I think it’s better to sell it."
"Where will you live, then?" Walker asked, his voice low.
"How about I move back to Jardinelle?" Chloe raised an eyebrow, looking at him.
Walker’s breath caught in his throat. Then he said, "You should be living in Jardinelle. That’s our home."
"Mm-hm, it is."
Chloe’s attitude was dismissive. "Is there anything else? I need to get back to work."
But Walker pressed, "When are you moving back? Tonight? I can come pick you up."
"The house isn’t sold yet. I’ll move back once it is," Chloe said, tidying the script in her hands.
Walker’s gaze burned into her. "Fine. I’ll wait for you."
Then he added, "My sister-in-law won’t be working here anymore."
Chloe threw up her hands. "Whatever makes you happy."
’He can make people come and go as he pleases. He always has his ways. Who could possibly defy him?’
"Then why aren’t you happy?" Walker stepped forward. "Don’t you hate her? I made sure she can’t show her face in front of you again."
"So heartless toward your own sister-in-law?" Chloe looked at him in astonishment. "You change your tune so fast. I can hardly believe you’re the same wonderful brother-in-law who stayed with her while she was giving birth."
