Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 244: What if I’m Not Willing?
Chloe Reed yanked her hand away from his. Her crystal-clear eyes, tinged with a cold light, stared at him as she demanded in a low voice, "How did you know my grandma was here?"
’Did he have my grandma followed?’
Walker Grant’s palm was empty. He didn’t like the feeling, but seeing her cold expression, he said, "My assistant was on a business trip and saw your grandma leaving the airport."
He offered this explanation, then looked at her. "What? You suspect I deliberately brought your grandma here?"
Chloe Reed sneered. "Is that something you’re incapable of doing?"
Walker Grant actually gave it some serious thought before nodding. "You’re right, I would."
Chloe Reed: "..."
She couldn’t be bothered to deal with him.
But she was currently wrestling with whether or not to tell her grandma she had already filed for divorce.
It was a truth that couldn’t be hidden forever.
So Chloe Reed looked at him and said, "I’ll tell Grandma about the divorce. But I want you to keep your mouth shut about everything that happened before."
’If she finds out we’re divorcing, Grandma will probably just think we didn’t get along. But if she knew everything I’ve been through... it would break the poor woman’s heart. What if she gets sick from the stress?’
But Walker Grant’s eyes darkened. "If Grandma finds out we’re getting a divorce, do you think she can handle it?"
"Hah!" Chloe Reed sneered. "Plenty of young people get divorced these days. My grandma is an open-minded person; she can accept it."
After speaking, she didn’t spare him another glance and headed upstairs.
"But what if I’m not willing to?"
But the man’s unhurried voice followed her from behind.
Chloe Reed whipped her head around. "What do you mean by that?"
"Drop the lawsuit. After Grandma gets the sapphire earrings, I’ll send her home. She won’t know about anything that’s happened here." Walker Grant walked up to her and spoke slowly. "But if you don’t drop the suit, then your grandma will find out about everything."
Furious, Chloe Reed raised her hand to strike him!
But Walker Grant caught her wrist. "Chloe, don’t gamble with your grandma’s health, hm?"
"I should be the one saying that to you!" Chloe Reed’s face was livid with anger.
But Walker Grant chuckled softly before saying, "I respect her because she’s your grandmother. But if we’re divorced and have no ties, then what is she to me?"
A sense of helplessness washed over Chloe Reed again. Her gaze was frigid as she stared at him, a simmering hatred beginning to flow through her.
Walker Grant’s sharp brows furrowed.
This time, he wasn’t mistaken.
She hated him.
A suffocating feeling swelled in his chest, and his breathing grew taut.
Chloe Reed said coolly, "Resorting to all these tricks only makes me loathe you more, Walker Grant. Is there any point in going on like this?"
Walker Grant’s expression darkened even further.
Chloe Reed turned and went back upstairs. She first went into the restroom, practiced her expression in the mirror several times, and only then returned.
"Grandma, I ordered your favorite juice. It’ll be up in a minute." Chloe Reed sat down next to her grandmother, affectionately linking her arm through the elderly woman’s.
Her grandmother stroked her cheek and said, "Chloe, how have you gotten so thin? Is work that tiring?"
Chloe Reed’s eyelashes fluttered. "Mm, a little. I haven’t worked in a long time, so it’s taking some getting used to." 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
Her grandmother said, "Then you must eat properly. Don’t neglect your health for the sake of work."
"Mm, I will," Chloe Reed nodded.
Walker Grant returned just then, his expression as mild and placid as ever, showing no trace of his earlier foul mood.
But Chloe Reed’s heart leaped into her throat, terrified he might say something he shouldn’t.
