Chapter 421: Chapter 421: Are You a Donkey?

Walker Grant and Chloe Reed left Blue Night and went straight to a restaurant.

Chloe’s mood was heavy. She looked at the man sitting across from her and asked, "This path is a dead end. What do we do now?"

"Don’t worry," Walker said calmly. "I’ll handle it."

Chloe’s lovely brows knitted together. "If you don’t tell me, my mind will just run wild. You should at least let me know what to expect so I can be prepared."

Walker lifted his gaze and stared at her. "You’re safe for the short term."

Chloe didn’t understand. She asked doubtfully, "How can you guarantee that?"

A small smile played on Walker’s lips. "William Quinn is here. His men won’t dare to make a move."

Chloe tightened her grip on her chopsticks. "But that’s just a temporary fix, not a real solution."

"We have to take things one step at a time."

Walker said, "Let’s eat first. Try to forget about what happened tonight. From now on, if you see him, just stay away."

The thought of William Quinn’s unhinged behavior made Chloe’s blood run cold.

She had witnessed the depths of human evil before, but she’d never encountered someone so utterly deranged.

His moods were wildly unpredictable, and his thoughts were scattered. He could be laughing one second and crying the next.

And when she recalled what Walker had said about William Quinn crying as he hacked off his own siblings’ limbs, a wave of nausea washed over her.

"I’m not hungry. You go ahead and eat."

She said, putting down her chopsticks, her face a little pale.

Seeing this, Walker’s sharp brows drew together. "He really got to you." 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

Chloe didn’t say anything.

Walker put down his chopsticks as well, glanced at his watch, and then said, "Alright, let’s do something else to take your mind off it."

Chloe was puzzled. "Like what?"

Walker said, "There’s a movie theater nearby. Want to go see a movie?"

Chloe refused. "No, I want to go see my grandmother."

But Walker said, "You’re not in the right state of mind. Your grandmother would see it in an instant. Do you want to make her worry?"

Chloe fell silent.

"Come on. It’s just a movie. It doesn’t mean anything," Walker said, standing up. He walked over to her and reached for her hand.

Chloe pulled her hand away. "I can walk on my own."

Walker glanced at his empty palm and chuckled. "Chloe Reed, are you just going to cast me aside now that you don’t need me?"

"Are you a donkey?"

Chloe shot him a look. "If that’s what you want to think, there’s nothing I can do."

Walker: "..."

’There was really no winning with her.’

There was a mall nearby. Walker bought movie tickets on his phone, and as soon as they stepped into the theater, the rich aroma of popcorn filled the air.

After picking up the tickets, Chloe took them and started walking toward the ticket counter.

"Wait a second."

Walker, however, called out to her, then promptly turned and walked off.

Chloe asked, puzzled, "Where are you going?"

"Be right back."

But Walker paid her no mind. The crowd swallowed him from view, and Chloe looked away.

About five minutes later, someone appeared in front of her. She looked up and saw Walker holding a tub of popcorn in one hand and a soda in the other, a faint smile on his sharp, handsome face.

"I saw all the other girls had some, and we can’t be left out, right?"

Chloe blinked, turned away, and said, "I can’t eat any."

"I’ll eat it."

Walker followed behind her, a hint of laughter in his voice. "But you might have to hold this for me. I don’t have a free hand for the ticket."

Chloe took the tub of popcorn. After he had his ticket scanned, she tried to hand the popcorn back to him.

But to her surprise, he just pulled out his phone, made a call, and ignored her.
