Chapter 422: Chapter 422: You Care About Me?

"Here, hold this. I’m going to make a call."

Walker Grant walked ahead, a Coke in one hand and his phone in the other.

Chloe Reed lowered her gaze slightly, looking at the popcorn in her arms. ’They aren’t kids anymore. What does he think he’s doing? Does he think I can’t see what he’s up to?’

She collected her thoughts and followed him into the movie theater.

She wasn’t in the mood to eat, so naturally, she wasn’t in the mood for popcorn either. She focused all her attention on the movie.

She kept hearing a crunching sound and couldn’t help but look over.

She saw that he was the one eating the popcorn.

’Oh, well.’

’So he was the one who wanted it after all.’

She silently averted her gaze and went back to watching the movie.

The animated movie was heartwarming. The cute protagonist went on an adventure, overcame difficult challenges, and finally reconciled with their partner, leading to a deep, mutual understanding. She was completely engrossed.

By the time the movie was over, she felt a bit more relaxed, both mentally and physically.

Everyone else was leaving one after another, but she remained in her seat, not moving.

Walker Grant didn’t get up either. Half the popcorn in his lap was gone, and so was the Coke.

When almost everyone had left the theater, he looked at her and asked, "What are you thinking about?"

Chloe Reed lowered her gaze slightly and said softly, "What’s your plan now? Can you tell me?"

Hearing this, Walker Grant picked up a piece of popcorn and held it directly to her lips.

He didn’t speak, but his meaning was obvious: he wanted her to eat it.

The sweet scent of popcorn wafted to her nose. Chloe Reed stared at it for a long moment before reaching out and taking it.

Walker Grant said calmly, "As long as you stay by my side, nothing will happen to you."

"Why?"

Clutching the popcorn in her hand, Chloe Reed looked at him in confusion.

Walker Grant chuckled lightly. "Because those people don’t dare to come after me openly."

Chloe Reed grew even more confused. "Why are they wary of you? And what’s your background?"

She suddenly remembered that William Quinn knew Walker Grant. ’Does he have his own power base abroad?’

Walker Grant turned and leaned closer to her, a playful glint in his handsome, narrow eyes. "Curious about me? Worried?"

Chloe Reed was left speechless.

She stood up, tossed the now-crushed piece of popcorn back into the bucket, and walked straight out.

’This man is never serious!’

Walker Grant’s low chuckle came from behind her. "Why don’t you just admit it? It’s not embarrassing to admit you’re worried about me."

Chloe Reed said in a cold tone, "Fine, I’m worried. Don’t go and die on me. If you die, who’s going to complete our deal?"

"Looks like I hold a certain place in your heart after all." Walker Grant closed the distance between them in a few steps, acting as if he hadn’t heard her sarcasm. "You’re very worried about me. That’s good."

Chloe Reed glanced at him, her lips twitching. "You’re really good at deluding yourself."

A handsome smile graced Walker Grant’s thin lips. "It’s the truth. Why would I need to delude myself?"

Chloe Reed fell silent.

’I can’t be bothered to argue with him!’

Back at Jardinelle, her stomach started to rumble as soon as she got out of the car. She went straight to the kitchen, opened the fridge, and seeing some vegetables, decided to make some noodles.

Suddenly, a hand grabbed her arm, pulling her away.

"Don’t blow up my kitchen."

Walker Grant’s calm voice drifted over as he pushed her right out of the kitchen.
