Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 423: Are You Going to Give Me Your Wife?
Chloe Reed stood in the kitchen doorway, silent for a moment, before turning to go back to the living room and watch TV.
At ten o’clock that night, steaming hot bowls of vegetable noodles were placed on the dining table.
The two of them ate in silence.
The atmosphere in the spacious dining room was cold and desolate. They sat on opposite sides, as if separated by a distinct, uncrossable line.
Their home had once been lively and warm, full of simmering passion.
But now, not a single trace of that past could be found.
When Chloe Reed finished her noodles, she looked at him. "Does your wound need to be redressed?"
"No need."
Walker Grant put the dishes in the dishwasher and headed straight upstairs.
Chloe Reed was relieved to have the quiet. She returned to her room and called the caretaker, Aunt Woods, to ask how her grandmother was doing that day.
Aunt Woods stepped out of the room into the hallway. Cupping her hand over the phone, she whispered, "The madam’s eating and sleeping habits are normal, but she just keeps holding a photograph and staring into space. I didn’t dare get close enough to see what it is."
Chloe Reed’s expression faltered. ’It must be a photo of her with Autumn Linton,’ she thought.
’These days, the only thing that could affect her grandmother was anything related to Autumn Linton.’
Chloe Reed felt a surge of worry. If this kept up, something was bound to happen to her grandmother.
"Keep a close eye on her. Let me know immediately if anything happens."
"Okay," Aunt Woods replied.
Chloe Reed hung up and sat on her bed, her gaze turning vacant.
She had to go back to Maplewood Gardens tomorrow to spend time with her grandmother. A persistent feeling of unease lingered in her heart.
In the middle of the night, drifting in a sleepy haze, she thought she heard the sound of a car engine.
She got up and pulled open the curtains, just in time to see taillights disappearing into the distance.
’Two in the morning... Where is Walker Grant going?’
"..."
「The Racing Club.」
When Nathaniel Monroe saw Walker Grant arrive, he rushed over. "Walker, this William Quinn is a real handful. He’s insisting on racing in the middle of the night. He even said to remove all the guardrails and that he won’t allow a helicopter escort. Isn’t that just asking for an accident?"
Walker Grant wore a black leather jacket over a black tank top, giving him an untamable air. "Didn’t you arrange any other activities for him?" he asked coolly.
"Of course I did! A whole lineup of beauties, more than twenty of them! But he took one look, shook his head, and said he didn’t like a single one. Then he started clamoring to race. I was at my wit’s end, so I had to call you. Your track is the only one we can use," Nathaniel Monroe said, his face a mask of misery.
Nathaniel Monroe found William Quinn incredibly difficult to handle.
As they spoke, they crossed the main hall and arrived at the entrance to the racetrack out back. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
William Quinn was sitting inside a bright yellow sports car, chatting with the young woman beside him. His blue eyes were exceptionally clear and innocent, easily making people let down their guard.
The young woman was blushing furiously from his flirting.
When William Quinn saw Walker Grant, he immediately got out of the car. A wide grin spread across his face as he asked, "So, have you thought it over? Decided to give me your wife?"
Walker Grant’s eyes narrowed dangerously, and he threw a punch without a word.
William Quinn was ready for it this time and only took the blow to his shoulder. Still, the formidable power behind Walker Grant’s punch sent him stumbling back several steps.
His handsome face contorted for a moment, but he didn’t seem to care. A cheeky grin spread across his lips. "I looked into your relationship. You’re getting a divorce. You’re not in love anymore. Since that’s the case, let me love her. What do you have to be so angry about?"
Walker Grant strode forward and grabbed him by the collar, his eyes radiating a deathly chill. "Get those filthy thoughts out of your head. She is not a substitute for anyone, and she is not here to give you a mother’s love."
