Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 460: Left with Nothing
He then looked at Chloe Reed, and his expression visibly softened.
"Chloe..."
Chloe Reed raised a hand, cutting him off. "The show is over. I should be going."
With that, she turned to leave.
"Chloe!"
Charles Reed, however, took two steps forward. "I misunderstood you about so many things in the past," he said. "At the end of the day, we were father and daughter for more than twenty years. I watched you grow up. Even though you’re not my biological daughter, we still have a family bond."
Chloe Reed found his hypocrisy disgusting. The moment his own interests were at stake, he would immediately cut ties and find the path most advantageous to himself.
She gave him a cold look, her eyes clear and detached. "I have nothing to do with any of you."
With that, she quickly left the hospital room.
Charles Reed made to chase after her but was stopped by Walker Grant. The man’s handsome, sharp-featured face was impassive as he said coolly, "Didn’t you hear what she said?"
Charles Reed was still intimidated by Walker Grant, so he didn’t dare go any further.
He was overcome with regret. ’How could I have let my relationship with Chloe sour this badly?’
’If only I hadn’t treated Chloe so differently.’
’It’s all that little bitch Sunny’s fault!’
Charles Reed was furious. He turned and slapped Sunny across the face again.
"You vicious bitch, get the hell out!"
Sunny’s ears were ringing from the blow. She stared at Charles Reed in disbelief. "You... you hit me again?"
"I wish I could beat you to death!" Charles Reed snarled, pointing at her. "If it weren’t for you, how could the Reed family have ended up in this state? You’ve thrown our family into turmoil, leaving us with no peace. Are you satisfied now?"
Sunny Reed bit her lip, slowly rose to her feet, and left the hospital room with Susan Bowman.
Autumn Linton watched them go, her face full of sorrow, but she couldn’t say a single word.
She was still reeling from the shock of Sunny’s revenge.
She couldn’t bring herself to believe that the daughter she had doted on for so many years had been single-mindedly bent on revenge...
Autumn Linton covered her face with her hands and began to sob, her cries suppressed.
Charles Reed helped her sit up on the hospital bed. His face was grim as he said, "What’s the use of crying now? We owe Chloe far too much. The goal now is to get Chloe to forgive us. Walker Grant is utterly devoted to her, she’s holding her grandmother’s assets... she has to be our daughter!"
Autumn Linton looked at him, her face pale. "It’s impossible," she said. "Chloe will never come back."
"We still have to try!" Charles Reed’s face was dark. "We can’t end up with nothing!"
Autumn Linton was at a complete loss. "But what can we do now?"
Charles Reed pressed his temples. "Let me think..."
"..."
Susan Bowman and Sunny Reed left the hospital together.
The old woman’s face was full of resentment and indignation. "That ungrateful wretch! Autumn Linton is nothing but an ungrateful wretch! I was so good to her, and this is how she repays me!"
Sunny stared blankly ahead, not saying a word.
"Sunny?"
Susan Bowman called her name a couple of times. "What are you thinking about?"
Sunny said, "Grandma, it’s all gone. I have nothing left."
’Everything was exposed. Her status as the young mistress of the Grant family was gone. The love of her adoptive parents was gone. She couldn’t even see her own son anymore...’
She couldn’t believe it. In the end, she had absolutely nothing left!
