The doctor left soon after, and silence returned to the hospital room. The old woman sat on the bed without a word, the light illuminating her face and making her look rather pale.

Chloe Reed pushed down her sorrow and went to her grandmother’s side. "Grandma," she said, "you wanted to rest, didn’t you? You should lie down."

The old woman was weak during this detox phase and needed plenty of rest.

The old woman seemed dazed for a few moments before nodding. "Oh, right. I’m tired. I’ll sleep now."

Chloe Reed helped her lie down and tucked her in. As she watched her grandmother close her eyes, the grief and rage swirling in her own became nearly impossible to conceal.

She turned and stepped out of the hospital room. Walker Grant followed her out.

She took a deep breath, then looked at him. "I want to bring down the Reed Group."

Walker Grant wrapped an arm around her shoulders. "Alright."

Chloe’s body stiffened slightly, but she didn’t push him away.

Then, he turned her around and pulled her close, letting her bury her face in his chest. His large hand gently stroked the back of her head as he said, "Go on and cry if you need to."

Chloe Reed’s hands clenched into fists! 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

’I was holding it in just fine!’

But the moment he said that, the composure she had fought so hard to maintain shattered. Tears began to stream down her face. She bit down hard on her lip, and only when the emotions became overwhelming did a few small, broken sobs escape.

The sound was heart-wrenching to hear.

Walker Grant’s Adam’s apple bobbed. "Chloe," he said, "you can let it all out. Don’t hold back."

Chloe, however, paid him no mind. She closed her eyes, allowing herself to be completely enveloped in his presence. After venting some of her emotions, she gave him a light push.

He didn’t really want to let her go.

If he could, he would hold her forever.

He released her. She immediately wiped her face and said, "I’m going to stay here with my grandmother tonight. You should go home."

Her voice was thick from crying, and the corners of her eyes were red. Yet, her eyes, washed clean by tears, looked exceptionally clear.

Walker Grant glanced down at his shirt, then raised a brow. "You got my clothes dirty. Don’t you think you should take responsibility for that?"

Chloe looked at him, astonished. "You..."

"You have to wash them for me."

Walker Grant continued with his shameless request, taking her hand. "Wash it now. I need to wear these clothes again tomorrow."

Chloe’s lovely brows knitted together. "Walker Grant, I have to stay here with my grandmother!"

But Walker insisted, "I need to wear these tomorrow, so you have to wash them for me tonight."

"You!"

’He’s getting more and more shameless!’

’He has so many maids at home. Couldn’t any of them do his laundry?’

’Even without maids, couldn’t he just throw it in the washing machine?’

’He’s just doing this purely to make things difficult for me!’

Chloe was furious, but remembering she still needed his help, she swallowed her anger. With a cold expression, she stalked toward the elevator.

By the time they returned to Jardinelle, it was already nine in the evening.

Chloe held out her hand to him. "Take the clothes off."

Walker, however, studied her for a moment before saying, "Your face is a mess. Why don’t you go upstairs and take a shower first?"

Chloe frowned. "I’ll just wash my face. Why would I take a shower? That’s a waste of time."

’I still have to go back to the hospital.’

Walker said calmly, "You’ve been running around all day. Can you really stand the way you smell?"

Chloe: "..."

She actually sniffed herself and found the smell was, indeed, unpleasant. With a deadpan expression, she turned and headed upstairs.
