He grew vexed again. ’What’s the point of this cold war between us, especially with things so tense right now?’

There was no longer a place for him in her heart.

Whatever he did, she wouldn’t care.

That was why he had come home especially early today.

His dark gaze was locked on her smiling face, his heart trembling softly.

He walked straight over to her. She saw him, and the smile on her face immediately vanished.

’She really hates seeing me that much?’

A surge of frustration rose deep within him, and Walker Grant grabbed her wrist.

Chloe Reed’s elegant brows furrowed. "What are you doing?"

She looked at him with a guarded expression.

As if he were some kind of terrifying beast.

Walker Grant lowered his gaze slightly, his voice flat. "I have a lead on that matter."

Chloe Reed stopped struggling for a second, and he immediately pulled her up and dragged her into the villa.

Annie York stood to the side, her eyes fixed on Walker Grant’s back. She had wanted to greet him, but he hadn’t noticed her at all.

From beginning to end, his gaze never left Chloe Reed.

Annie York lowered her eyes in disappointment and bit her lip.

The old woman watched their retreating figures and asked, "Where are they off to?" 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

Annie York replied, "Mr. Grant and Chloe have something to talk about. Grandma, should we keep looking around?"

After a few seconds, the old woman shook her head. "No, I’m tired. Oh, right. Do you have a phone? Could I borrow it for a moment?"

Annie York nodded. "Of course. Who do you want to call?"

She took out her phone and handed it to the old woman.

The old woman stared blankly at the smartphone for a long moment, then shook her head. "Never mind. I can’t remember the number."

She then rose unsteadily to her feet and headed toward the villa.

Annie York quickly supported her, saying, "Should I go ask Chloe? Maybe she knows the number?"

"Don’t bother." The old woman shook her head. "I won’t make the call. If I’ve forgotten, I’ve forgotten. It wasn’t anyone important."

"Alright then," Annie York said.

...

「Upstairs.」

As soon as they entered the room, Walker Grant pinned Chloe Reed against the door, his hot breath enveloping her.

Before she could even react, a fiery kiss descended upon her lips. He sucked and licked, his tongue plunging deep to entangle with hers, swiftly branding her with his scent.

"Mmph!"

Caught completely off guard by the sudden assault, Chloe Reed let out a muffled grunt and instinctively tried to push him away.

Walker Grant seized both of her wrists with one hand, pinning them behind her back. The position pressed her body even closer to his. His other hand gripped the back of her head while his tall frame pressed down, immobilizing her completely.

The kiss grew more urgent and scorching, as if he intended to devour her whole. The feeling of suffocation quickly mounted, and the lack of air forced tears from Chloe Reed’s eyes.

Walker Grant’s kisses moved on, trailing along her cheek, her neck...

Chloe Reed’s breathing was ragged and uneven, her voice trembling. "Walker Grant, have you gone insane?!"

But the man simply continued kissing her, leaving one intimate mark after another on her fair skin.

His lips moved to the spot over her heart, his breath puffing hotly against her skin, making her body tremble faintly.

"Didn’t you say you had a lead on that matter? What exactly did you find out?" Chloe Reed asked urgently.
