Chapter 482: Chapter 482: Isn’t This Our Deal?

"Isn’t this our deal?"

Walker Grant’s voice was a low, hoarse whisper. As he spoke, his thin lips grazed the soft skin over her heart, sending a shiver through her.

His eyes darkened as he stared at her for a long moment before suddenly biting down.

Chloe Reed: "!!!"

His breathing grew ragged. Chloe Reed’s vision blurred, her legs grew weak, and her body, pressed against the door, began to slide down.

He caught her by the waist, then lifted one of her legs and wrapped it around his own lean waist.

His force was overwhelming, his presence domineering as it invaded and merged with hers.

Chloe Reed stopped struggling, simply closing her eyes and forcing her mind to go blank.

But the man was cruel.

He deliberately toyed with her, watching the reactions his actions wrung from her body.

Reactions she couldn’t control.

Chloe Reed bit her lip, but he was on her in an instant, his kiss parting her teeth and forcing soft moans from her throat that mingled with the sounds of their embrace.

Chloe Reed’s scalp prickled. Her instincts screamed at her to escape, but the moment she tried, he dragged her back.

"Why run? Your body is enjoying this."

Twilight descended, plunging the room into shadows.

Chloe Reed lay limp on the sofa, utterly drained. His breath was hot against the hollow of her neck. After a long moment, he picked her up and carried her to the bathroom.

The brightly lit mirror reflected their two figures.

Her pale skin was littered with love bites, while his back was covered in angry scratches. Neither had escaped unscathed.

Warm water cascaded over their bodies, washing away the sweat and their mingled scents.

Leaning limply against his chest, Chloe Reed asked, "I’ve paid in full. Can you tell me now?"

Walker Grant chuckled. "The company Miles Hawthorne works for has been in turmoil lately," he said. "The entire senior leadership team was replaced. Just now, someone from the old leadership contacted Miles. I intercepted the message. They want to meet at the Blue Night Club."

Chloe Reed was suddenly energized. She propped herself up on his chest and looked up at him. "I want to go."

Walker Grant noted the gleam in her eyes and said in a measured tone, "We can’t be certain that the person meeting Miles is the mastermind who’s trying to kill you."

But Chloe Reed retorted, "Still, it’s a possibility, isn’t it?"

Walker Grant raised an eyebrow. "I can take you, but you have to behave."

Chloe Reed frowned. "Walker Grant, I don’t like it when you talk to me like that. What do you mean, ’behave’? My life is on the line. You think I won’t be careful?"

Walker Grant sighed. "I’m just afraid you’ll get emotional when you see them, and all this will be for nothing."

"I won’t," Chloe Reed answered, her voice firm.

Walker Grant’s dark eyes bore into hers. "Fine. You’ll go in disguise as my date."

Chloe Reed lowered her gaze. Having regained some of her strength, she pushed him away, slipped on a bathrobe, and left the bathroom.

Once the passion faded, the woman became unnervingly calm.

Walker Grant’s eyes darkened. Watching her retreating back, he had the strange feeling that no matter what he did, he would never be able to truly hold on to her.
