Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 536: Did He Secretly Brush Up on His Acting
She grabbed Chloe Reed’s arm and couldn’t help but complain, "That was terrifying. When I saw the look in his eyes, I really thought he was madly in love with me and desperate to marry me."
Chloe Reed couldn’t help but laugh. "You’re just too nervous. Hasn’t he denied it several times already?"
Iris Yates breathed a sigh of relief, the tension leaving her back. "Yeah, I was definitely overthinking it. His acting is just too good; he completely had me fooled."
Just then, the makeup artist came in, so Iris Yates didn’t say anything more.
Chloe Reed stayed by her side, watching her get a makeup touch-up. The ceremony would start in about ten minutes. Once today was over, this whole affair would be settled.
Even though they still hadn’t found William Quinn, once the wedding was over, everything would be over.
...
Walker Grant stood to the side, watching an anxious Nathaniel Monroe pace back and forth. Nathaniel kept glancing at his watch and said in a low voice, "Walker, it’s been so many days. Why is there still no news about him?"
Walker Grant said, "If he wants to hide and not be found, he has plenty of ways. Otherwise, how could he have survived until now?"
William Quinn had made a lot of enemies abroad. The fact that he’s still alive meant he definitely had his own methods.
Nathaniel Monroe frowned. "But with no news of him, I can’t feel at ease. I’m genuinely afraid he’ll show up any second and take her away. It took me so much to finally marry her—"
"Hm?"
Hearing this, Walker Grant raised an eyebrow slightly. "Planning this wedding... you’re sneaking in your own agenda, aren’t you?"
...
His expression went blank for a second before he said, "I won’t hide it from you anymore. I did it on purpose. I never expected a William Quinn to show up, much less for them to cross paths. I didn’t have any other choice."
He looked at Walker Grant, his expression exceptionally serious and solemn. "Walker, don’t tell the bride. I want to wait a while before I tell Iris my true feelings."
Walker Grant stared at him with his dark, phoenix-like eyes and nodded. "Okay."
’To risk everything for the one he loved, even to the point of offending William Quinn—Nathaniel Monroe has guts.’
He said in a serious tone, "You need to be prepared for the worst. William Quinn is a madman."
Nathaniel Monroe’s lips twisted into a humorless smile. "The moment I proposed this plan, I was already prepared. I won’t give up, no matter what."
Walker Grant reached out and patted his shoulder.
The time for the ceremony arrived quickly. The guests were all seated. Nathaniel Monroe checked the time, took several deep breaths, and then said, "It’s time to start the ceremony. Walker, you should go take your seat."
"Mm."
The lights in the venue dimmed. The wedding officiant began to speak, and the hall fell silent.
As the officiant spoke, the large doors at the far end opened. A beam of light shone out, landing directly on Iris Yates.
Dressed in her wedding gown, she walked step by step toward the center of the stage.
When she was halfway there, Nathaniel Monroe suddenly started walking toward her. The moment stunned everyone.
Even the officiant almost didn’t react in time, hastily changing his script to keep the atmosphere from turning awkward.
Iris Yates looked at him in astonishment, whispering, "What are you doing here?"
Nathaniel Monroe stood before her, gazing at her intently. "From here on," he said, "we’ll walk the rest of the way together."
THUMP, THUMP, THUMP!
Iris Yates’s heart pounded violently, her eyes wide with disbelief.
’I’m done for, I’m done for, I’m done for!’
’His acting is way too good!’
’I missed my cue again!’
’Damn it!’
’Did he secretly take acting classes or something?’
