Arnulf was feeling anxious. He had been assigned to lead the backup group in case something happened to the main team. The signal would be a flare shot into the sky by Diana.

But it had been nearly two hours, and no signal had appeared. The only thing he had seen was a massive explosion in the sky. At first, he thought it was the signal, but he had never seen Diana use such an ability before.

The other hunters were just as restless. In truth, they hoped they would never be sent to the battlefield. The main group consisted of the top hunters in the town. If even they were defeated, there was no way the backup group could do any better.

Suddenly, Klassen, a hunter with long-vision ability, noticed movement in the distance. He focused for a few seconds before recognizing Nolan and his group returning.

"They are here! The Guildmaster and the others are back!" Klassen shouted. All the hunters’ expressions changed as they immediately rushed toward them.

"Guildmaster... how was the fight?" Arnulf asked anxiously. The others leaned in and silent as they were waiting for the answer.

"The monster... it is gone," Nolan said.

"YEAH!" The hunters erupted in cheers, hugging each other in relief. Some even began to dance.

Arnulf then led Nolan and the group toward Old Man Muden’s place for treatment.

But along the way, he noticed the group atmosphere is not so happy. It is as if they were frustrated in slaining the boss.

But along the way, Arnulf noticed the group’s atmosphere was not as joyful as expected. It was as if they were frustrated, despite defeating the boss.

"Guildmaster, why do you look so gloomy? You already defeated the monster. Isn’t that something to be happy about?" Arnulf asked.

"Yes, of course I am happy. But we don’t deserve the credit or praise. Because... we were not the ones who defeated the monster," Nolan said, leaving Arnulf shocked.

"Then who defeated it?"

"A mysterious boy... wearing a mask. And the monster was not slain, it was tamed by him," Nolan said slowly.

"Tamed?" Arnulf jaw dropped in shock.

Ignoring Arnulf reaction, right now in Nolan’s mind, countless thoughts were racing. It was true that the masked boy had helped the town, but only because he wanted that monster. What if he had ulterior motives? What if he intended to use that power for something dangerous?

Nolan narrowed his eyes. He would investigate this matter as soon as possible. Because someone who could tame a boss monster was holding far too much power in his hands.

For an entire week, the story of the mysterious masked figure spread throughout the town. Children and women saw him as a hero, a savior. But many of the grown men viewed him as something far more dangerous.

Yet despite their differences, they all shared the same question.

"Who is the identity of that mysterious man?"

---

The man they were searching for was bedridden with a high fever for several days. Oliver could not even wake up and remained asleep on his bed the entire time. His parents were worried, fearing he might have caught a serious infection, and were considering bringing him to see Muden if it continued.

Luckily, after three days, the fever subsided and Oliver began to recover.

"Dear, I made you some hot porridge. Do you want me to feed you?" Irmine asked.

"It’s okay, Mom. I already feel better. I can eat it myself. Thank you," Oliver said with a smile.

Irmine leaned in and kissed his forehead before leaving the room and gently closing the door.

Oliver took a spoonful of the porridge and smiled in satisfaction.

"So delicious!"

"Are you alright, kid?" Husk appeared and lay down beside him.

"I think so. You must have been worried about me these past few days, right?" Oliver teased.

"Hmph! If you can be defeated by a mere fever, then you are still far from becoming an Overlord," Husk replied.

Oliver just smiled. He already understood Husk’s personality. Even though he acted indifferent, he actually cared. During his high fever, Oliver could feel Husk watching over him, even changing the wet cloth on his forehead.

"I love you, Husk!" Oliver suddenly hugged him.

"Hey, why are you hugging me all of a sudden? Go away, your illness might spread to me if you get too close."

After that, Oliver finished the porridge. He then lay down, staring at his hands as he opened and clenched them repeatedly.

"System, why did I suffer such a severe side effect when taming Cannonyx, but not when taming Husk? I thought their ranks were similar?" Oliver asked.

[Based on their initial rank, both of them were indeed similar, with Cannonyx only slightly higher. However, when Cannonyx entered Berserk Mode, its rank temporarily rose to Rank S. Rank S is an entirely different tier compared to those below it. Taming a Rank S monster requires an immense amount of mana, and fortunately, your worst side effect was only a fever. If you are not aware, death is the more common outcome.]

"Death... I didn’t realize it was that dangerous," Oliver thought. He had been reckless and not thinking it through at all. The only thing on his mind back then was taming the rogue boss.

"Speaking of that rogue boss, I want to see my new monster’s details," Oliver said with excitement
