Pampered Poisonous Royal Wife
Chapter 2328 - 659: Her Prestige (2)
An Yiqing silently nodded, looking at the disaster victims lying by the roadside, her heart growing heavier.
The injured in Qingshui Town had already been initially treated. An Yiqing checked around and found that no one was experiencing persistent high fever, which put her mind at ease. After bidding farewell to the soldiers in charge of the rescue, she rode a motorcycle with her little junior brother to the next location.
Along the way, she had no idea how many people she had saved, or how much blood had stained her. The painful wails weighed down her heart, and An Yiqing suddenly wondered if all these disasters were truly just nature’s punishment? Or was there some kind of fate coldly watching them from the sky?
Slowly lifting her head, An Yiqing looked at the azure sky, her heart oppressed.
At that moment, the corner of her short-sleeve was suddenly tugged. An Yiqing collected her thoughts, glanced down, and was startled to see a little boy tugging at her sleeve.
"Little one, what’s up?" She squatted down, smiling at the little boy whose face was dirty, yet his big eyes were clean and clear.
"Sister, here’s a candy for you." The little boy flashed a big smile and extended his dirty little hand, giving An Yiqing an ordinary lollipop.
An Yiqing was momentarily stunned, accepting the lollipop, "This is..."
"Sister, I know you. You helped heal my mom’s injury a few days ago; you’re a good person." The little boy giggled, innocence in his brows, "Whenever Xiao Bao was unhappy, mom and grandma would buy me lollipops. Eating them made me happy. Sister, if you’re unhappy, you must want a lollipop too!"
An Yiqing’s eyes slightly moved, and she smiled. She touched the boy’s face and said, "Thank you, Xiao Bao."
"No problem, sister. You’re a good person, I like you!" Saying this, the little boy cheerfully bid farewell and ran off. An Yiqing remained squatting, watching him leap into his father’s arms. That was an ordinary, utterly ordinary man. The moment he held up his child, it seemed he possessed the entire world.
An Yiqing unexpectedly laughed; her previously heavy heart gradually became clear. Perhaps she had already found the purpose of the long road of life.
"Sister, I just got some instant noodles and bottled water. You make do for now, once we’re back in Xuandu City, we’ll have something better." The little junior brother, drenched in sweat, ran over carrying several bags of instant noodles, handing the ones in best condition to An Yiqing.
An Yiqing accepted them, "Xiao Ba, we’ll return to Hongci Camp tomorrow. The situation here is nearly resolved, I need to go back and check on that epidemic."
Xiao Ba nodded, "I’ll listen to you, Sister. But aren’t you going to inform the third senior brother and the others when you return?"
An Yiqing pondered a bit, "The third senior brother and the others should have gone to other towns. If they come here, they’ll surely know I’ve been here. I’ll find someone to leave a message, so if they come, they’ll know where to find me immediately."
"Then I’ll start packing now, we’ll set off tomorrow morning!"
That evening, An Yiqing, along with Xiao Ba, once again traversed the entire town, inspecting the severely injured victims. Upon hearing about An Yiqing’s departure, everyone thanked her, and several families specifically saved some fruits to give her for the road.
"Doctor An, thank you so much. Without you, my mom wouldn’t have survived." A middle-aged woman expressed her gratitude over and over to An Yiqing. During the disaster, she and her mother were buried under the rubble. It was An Yiqing who discovered them first and rescued them with her bare hands. Her mother’s head had been smashed open, and if not for An Yiqing’s exceptional medical arts, she likely would’ve perished in the underworld.
The middle-aged woman’s gratitude warmed An Yiqing’s heart. She smilingly returned the two peaches in her hand to the woman, "Sister Yu, I don’t eat much fruit. Keep these two peaches to replenish your aunt’s fluids. Her injury hasn’t healed yet; she shouldn’t miss out on nutrition. Hold on a minute." Saying this, she theatrically rummaged through the medical kit and took out a small box, "I made this healing medicine myself; it’s beneficial for elderly recovery. Your aunt is older and can’t bear the strain, she ought to stabilizingly take some medicine. Sister Yu, please accept it."
"How much does it cost? I can’t let you give it for free." Sister Yu hurriedly fumbled around but realized she was wearing pajamas, "Look at me, I haven’t brought any money. Here’s the deal, Miss An, once we retrieve the bank card from home, we’ll transfer it to you at the bank."
