Picking Up Attributes In Martial World - Chapter 139: Changes In Status

Chapter 139: Changes In Status

Ye Jun found a tall tree. It was thick and big enough to house entire settlements, so naturally he made his temporary shelter there. He needed to inspect his changes, after all.

Sitting in a dark, caved-in trunk of the tree, he looked down at his body and thought, ’It is significantly different than before.’

He knew he had broken through the Physique Rank, something he had been unable to do for a long time. It only changed once he started cultivating the Grand Genesis Foundation Sutra, which pushed his body to the limit of the first rank, also known as the Tempered Rank.

’What’s the new one called?’ Ye Jun thought, before ordering. ’I can check the changes in the status first. It’s been months since I did that. Show me my status, system.’

It really had been a long time as he was focusing on improving, so he didn’t even bother checking the status.

On his command, a big status screen opened up before him.

....

"Goddamn, it’s big!" Ye Jun cursed, as he was flashbanged by it. "I already removed so many things, yet it is so big."

He wondered how big it would be if he hadn’t removed anything. Just the things he had gotten from the duels would fill this twice or maybe thrice.

Unfortunately, most of those things were useless to him so he threw them in the trash. If he wanted, he could access them, but for now, he wanted the status clean.

"I’ll have to clean this up again," he muttered before shaking his head. "Whatever, the changes are more important."

The first section showed his biggest improvements. He was so close to reaching the Peak Stage of Qi Condensation Realm, then he could try to advance to the Soul Tempering Realm.

Then came the Physique Rank.

"Qi-Tempered, huh," Ye Jun mumbled to himself. "It’s understandable. I used Grand Genesis Foundation Sutra which basically uses the Qi to temper every part of the physique. Interesting!"

There were significant changes to his physique which he had already experienced during his escape just now. Even without using Qi, he could perform things that would require him to use Qi.

Like climbing this high quickly. Normally, he would have used Ashen Phantom Steps but this time, he simply jumped a high distance without any trouble.

He was sure of other changes too, but that was for later.

Comprehension also changed, but it was understandable. He fought so much, learning with every battle, not to mention using the training rooms. The improvement was lower than he expected, but it was understandable.

’Cultivation manual side is the same as before. Nothing much.’

His Yang Physique had also progressed, mostly thanks to the Fire Hall, but after a while, the progress had slowed down considerably. He would need to find other methods.

In his Dao Affinities, there were no new additions, only improvements in his prior ones. The biggest progress was definitely in Fire because of the Fire Hall.

Others had also improved enough to put a big smile on his face.

’Passive Skills. Bitchass, I have to remove so many of you and you still keep piling up.’

He was quite happy with their addition, of course, but he hated sorting out his status page. It was pain in the ass.

Shaking those thoughts off, he ignored the progress of the other passive skills and simply focused on the newer ones. He was curious what the system would say about them.

....

[Iron Skin Conditioning Lv. 01]

Skin and muscle density passively hardens after repeated physical trauma. Reduces surface damage from blunt and slashing strikes.

[Combat Breathing Lv. 01]

Regulates breath rhythm during sustained fights. Slows Qi exhaustion and delays stamina collapse in prolonged exchanges.

[Predator’s Stillness Lv. 01]

Suppresses involuntary movement and presence when stationary. Useful for ambushes and reading opponents before engaging.

[Wound Suppression Lv. 01]

Passively numbs acute injury responses mid-combat. Not healing, just stops a bad cut from breaking his focus.

....

"Interesting. I didn’t have Iron Skin Conditioning, so maybe it came along with ranking up Physique," Ye Jun said, talking to the air. "Same with the others."

They seemed simple at a glance, but so were most of his passive skills. However, they weren’t weak at all. They played a big role in battles.

Just like these four could help him so much in a battle. Wound Suppression and Combat Breathing would allow him to fight for long. Iron Skin Conditioning was the best one considering its effects.

Ye Jun grinned, "Hehe, this is just cherry on the top. I like you guys, so you can stay... for now."

He focused on the active skills, which should have the biggest changes, but he threw aside the majority of the Mysterious Techniques he gained.

Still, the new additions were looking great. He ignored the improvements in his previous skills and only asked the system to give descriptions for the new ones.

....

[Flickering Reed Steps Lv. 01]

Short-burst lateral evasion. Designed to break an opponent’s attack rhythm by moving unpredictably within close range rather than retreating.

[Rooting Stance Lv. 01]

Lowers center of gravity and channels Qi into the legs. Makes him nearly impossible to throw or knock back while active. Sacrifices mobility.

[Viper’s Bite Strike Lv. 01]

A short, extremely fast fingertip strike targeting pressure points and joint gaps. Less power, high precision, good for disrupting an opponent’s Qi flow mid-exchange.

[Dead Man’s Thrust Lv. 01]

A single forward thrust that commits full body weight. High damage, high risk. Named because the practitioner is fully extended and vulnerable after executing it.

[Scorching Path Lv. 01]

Channels fire Qi into the knuckles. Each hit leaves residual heat in the wound.

[Crimson Lotus Flames Art.]

User can create a flaming lotus that would envelop him. It is a defensive technique but it can be offensive too when the petals of the lotus separate from it and start attacking enemies from long distance.

....

The last description was a bit weird in wording, but that was because it was him who gave it. After all, it was him who created the Crimson Flame Lotus Art.

One thing Ye Jun knew well was that the Qi Condensation Realm wasn’t much different than the Body Strengthening Realm because both focused more on direct combat.

Using Qi outside of their body properly wasn’t something that a Qi Condensation Realm Cultivator could do. At most, they could use a few Mysterious Techniques before running out.

In the end, the Qi Condensation Realm was more about direct combat that included usage of Qi. It changed from the Soul Tempering Realm where one got enough Qi Control and reserves to use Qi-based Mysterious Techniques a lot.

This was why he only chose the Mysterious Techniques that helped him in direct combat. He had decided to focus on other ones when he got to the Soul Tempering Realm.

Still, he didn’t want to have nothing, so he used his higher comprehension and high mastery of Dao Affinity of Fire to create a Mysterious Technique of his own.

He wondered how others would react once they learned of this. He grinned just thinking about it.
