Chapter 140: Threat Of Lord

Creating Mysterious Techniques wasn’t an easy task, as it involved many things like proper knowledge and understanding of the related Affinity, what Qi pathways to use, and other factors.

And most of all, a Cultivator’s comprehension needed to be high for that.

Fortunately for Ye Jun, he checked all of those boxes. His comprehension was very high, he had a good understanding of the Dao of Fire because of his adventures in the Fire Hall, and Grand Genesis Foundation Sutra helped him have a good understanding of Qi pathways and the way Qi circulated in them.

All of this led to him creating a Mysterious Technique of his own that could aid him even in higher realms. Naturally, he could also progress faster in it because it was his creation.

Though, he couldn’t use it much in the Qi Condensation Realm because of its demand for Qi. After some testing, he found he could only hold onto the Lotus for thirty seconds maximum. Beyond that, his Qi reserves would dry up and he would be as good as dead.

’Well, not anymore.’ Ye Jun grinned.

Normally, a Cultivator who exhausted his Qi was easy to kill, at least by enemies of similar strength. But Ye Jun was different. Even if he exhausted all of his Qi reserves, he would have his Qi-Tempered Physique to fight with.

He could already imagine his enemy’s reaction.

’It’s like killing a boss after many struggles, only to realise it has a second form. Haha! I really need to invest in Physique more.’

Ye Jun then focused on his other skills. As usual, he didn’t bother with flashy ones since he would discard them later. He only kept the ones useful for the current him.

He rarely used Flickering Reed Steps because Ashen Phantom Steps was better, but it was good to be versatile, especially since he could use it to surprise his enemies.

Rooting Stance was one of his only defense skills, so he kept it. It helped him defend against a sudden attack that he couldn’t avoid even with his terrifying intuition.

Viper’s Bite Strike was broken in the hands of someone who understood the Qi Pathways. So he kept it too.

Dead Man’s Thrust was a sword move, not particularly a Mysterious Technique. An ultimate, as he called it. It was perhaps his strongest move in terms of damage alone, but it was very risky to execute, hence the term ultimate.

It was kill or be killed with this one.

Lastly, Scorching Path was a Fist Combat Mysterious Technique, mainly used for stacking. Ye Jun used gaming terms, as it helped him understand these things better. With this technique, he could stack the Burn effect which was very useful.

There were a few more that he kept in his arsenal, like the Fire Arrow, but he didn’t consider them important enough to put them on his status page.

"Still, if the second stage is Qi-Tempered, what will be the third one?" Ye Jun wondered, clenching his fists. "And how strong will that make me!"

The future was full of excitement. Or at least, it seemed that way.

Ye Jun still remembered very well what happened in the Greywood Village. The memories of that still affected his mind after so long.

It was also a reminder to him of how dangerous this world was. Even Han Yuexin, an Origin Realm Cultivator, found herself losing against some random underling of a creepy, unknown entity.

What if the real entity had descended?

It also reminded him of the dream he saw back in the Martial Exchange. The world was ending and many entities like these would surely come.

So, even though he was progressing rapidly, he was still just a pawn in the grand play of the Heavens. That pushed him to improve as fast as he could.

Every day, he wondered if he would find himself on the weaker end the day the End of the World began.

Shaking off his depressing thoughts, Ye Jun went out of the trunk and looked around at the beautiful greenery. It was so tranquil and peaceful here that he could forget everything.

He raised his head and caught the sunlight being filtered through the canopies, "It doesn’t matter though. The only thing I can do is give my best and I’m already doing that."

Ye Jun wanted to stay in the Wildlands for a few more days to check his new strength and accumulate more Qi. But it was mostly a waste of time.

"It’s time to advance to the Soul Tempering Realm," Ye Jun muttered, looking down at his wrist where a serpent tattoo glared back at him. "Then, I’ll research more about the place this damned thing is pointing at. If it’s not too dangerous, then perhaps even explore it."

That was the plan, at least. He still wasn’t sure if he could advance to the Soul Tempering Realm on the first try. Many didn’t, even after preparations. Not to mention he cultivated rapidly so he wasn’t sure if his foundation was strong enough.

’Maybe I should ask for Meihui’s help.’ Ye Jun thought, rubbing his chin. ’She is very knowledgeable and also has a high Cultivation base.’

Thinking of that, he smiled and stepped forward, letting himself fall down a hundred metres straight. It felt good to have the wind splashing your face like water, only to scatter away.

He felt alive in these moments, especially after remembering his previous life where he would die doing this. But in this world, it only brought him freedom.

Finally, the ground grew close so he did a forward flip and landed easily, dispersing the immense force of the fall around him. He blinked, then his lips turned upwards, "I didn’t even use Qi and survived such a high fall."

That meant he could survive even worse with Qi.

Then, he turned around and used Ashen Phantom Steps, escaping in the direction of the White Gale Pavilion. Fortunately, he had memorized the way, otherwise he would have to find cities and ask for directions.

It took him almost two days to reach the nearest city to White Gale Pavilion, literally named White Gale City as it was directly under the Pavilion.

Knowing how wanted he was, Ye Jun entered the city through discreet means and even used a wooden mask to cover his face. He wasn’t about to give away his whereabouts just so that the senior disciples could set up an ambush on him.

’Aghh! I want rest!’

That was actually his whole reason for coming to this city. His food ration had run out long ago, so while he could hunt and eat in the wilderness, he wanted to reach the sect quickly so he didn’t do it.

Not to mention after weeks of staying in the wilderness and fighting Spiritual Beasts, he wanted to rest on a comfortable bed after having warm delicious food and some wine.

He deserved that.

If he returned to the sect in such a state, it would damage his image. Or at least that’s what he thought. He just wanted to be in his prime when he confronted everyone back in the sect.

Walking amidst the bustling crowd of the city, he inhaled the mixed scent and sighed in relief, "So much better than those Spiritual Beasts."

He searched around the city and found out some information about the White Gale Pavilion. Apparently, the sect had sent out many disciples and even Elders on a secret mission which alerted all forces in the area.

No one knew what exactly happened, but a sect like White Gale Pavilion mobilizing such a force wasn’t a good sign.

’They are taking this more seriously than I thought. Interesting.’

Ye Jun expected such things to be common in this Cultivation world, especially since Demonic Sects existed. But if he had to guess, then it was probably that Lord Entity who unnerved the sect.

Especially since that being could ignore Heavenly Tribulations. From what Ye Jun had studied, even Demonic Cultivators couldn’t escape the Heavenly Tribulations.

In fact, they fared the worst in this case as the Heavens didn’t support their methods so their Tribulations were always worse than that of an orthodox Cultivator.

That was the only thing that kept them in check, actually, otherwise they would go on a killing spree and use forbidden methods to advance rapidly.

The fact that a Demonic Cultivator could ignore a Heavenly Tribulation surely meant a lot of trouble. For now, the Lord was weak. It was clear from how he targeted a small village first, but what if he was allowed to grow stronger?

It wouldn’t take him long to bring pure destruction and a level of genocide unseen in the history of Xuanwu.

The Lord would massacre hundreds of thousands, targeting every remote location to even crowded cities just so he could build an army of Paragons.

Ye Jun grimaced thinking of that, ’This guy will start a war even before the End of the World comes. I really don’t want to face those Paragons again.’

The worst part was they didn’t know anything about the Lord.
